Best Leave-in/Moisturizer – Kimmaytube Leave-in! I like her recipe with mix of Knot Today and It's a 10 Leave-in. Knot Today alone doesn't have enough slip for me.
2. Favorite Hair Butter – Don't really use butters, but I do love JBCO pomade! I guess Anita Grant's Creamy Latte, if that counts.
3. Favorite Curl Cream – Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie / KomazaCare Coconut Curl
4. Best in Hair Gels – I use KCCC as my "gel" – the greatest as smoothing edges.

KeraCare Natural Textures Leave-in – Overall, I think this is quality stuff. Great (natural) ingredients, great description on the packaging and awesome results. it does not weigh my hair down (which was exactly what I was hoping for!), makes my hair feel soft and look healthier. I honestly can’t find anything wrong with these products. Well, maybe one thing: why is the cleansing cream (shampoo) in a jar and not in a bottle? A jar isn’t very practical in the shower…

@ Doc, your question is not stupid. I've asked myself the same thing many times in my 5 mos. of being natural and experimenting with several products. I'm still doing wash n go's and I'm trying to narrow my products down as much as possible. So far, I'm liking for
1. Leave In/Moisturizer: Qhemet Biologics Alma & Olive Hydrating Cream (it does double duty as a leave-in and moisturizer)
2. Hair Butter: None yet, I realize I don't like Shea, may try others
3. Curl Cream: None yet, but would like to have one to alternate with my gel
4. Gel: Flax seed gel
5. Curl Refresher: Water
6. Best Styler: so far flax seed gel

@ Doc I know others have answered but i wanted to put my 2cents in as well
1. Moisturizes adds water to the hair[if u purchase a water base]
2.Hair Butter= hold/sealant
3. Curl Cream= Defines
4. Hair Gels= holds/slicks down
5. Refresher= next day hair… ahhh lol
6. Your best bet when u need to style any/ most styles

@ Doc, I find that a leave in is much better than pure water to refresh a wash in go, braid out or styling. Also, a leave in will protect your hair from damage from tugging, pulling, and braiding and/or twisting. A butter is heaven to the hair and I find that the more natural the butter (raw shea) the more shine.

2. Mango & Shea Butter (don't know the brand but I buy it from whole foods small jar but last long)

4. Eco Styler & Fantasia (love them both and they are running head to head)
5. Curl Refresher (umm if its a rod set I don't use any spray the curls will flop. wash n go I use Jane Carter leave in and maybe a little water.

perhaps a stupid question coming:
what is the purpose of each of these products and how do these purposes differ from each other?
i have been so overwhelmed by products in 2010 that i'm on my way to resolving to give them up all together for 2011. not to mention how much money i've spent trying to find the "right one" for my hair (i'm starting to believe such product doesn't exist). i'm curious about how you all use these different products.
What is the difference between a leave-in/moisturizer, a hair butter, curl cream and a styler.
How do you all know you hair requires such diversity in products (i.e. when do i know when to use what)?

I've tried buying products such as Miss Jessie's and even Qhemet biologics and they work great but are too heavy for my hair and then my scalp gets itchy. I probley need to go with lighter products but using shea butter, gel and my water mix works well for me so why fix something that isn't broke. Also I just discovered macadamian oil and love, love how soft and shiny it makes my hair feel. It also smells heavenly. Love your website Nikki.
