Funky Side Fro a la Jamila

Hey y’all!

Here’s a style that is really quick and easy to do. If I want to rock a fun and funky style (or if my twist out doesn’t turn out the way I want it to), this is my go-to style!

Products Needed:

• Conditioner of choice [to co-wash and detangle]
• Leave in Conditioner [to moisturize and style]
• Oil Mix (Jojoba, Coconut, EVOO) [to seal]
• Bobby Pins
• Small Comb

On wet hair, I did medium sized twists all over my head, twisting from back to front.

I removed my twists after wearing them for two days. I untwisted after coating my hands with my oil mix, and then separated each untwisted strand into two sections. I fluffed my hair (a la Curly Nikki) and then, using a small comb, I parted my hair on one side and flat-twisted my hair towards the crown of my head. I secured the twists with bobby pins and pined my bangs to the side (opposite of the twists) to create a ‘swept’ look. [This style doesn’t fare well if the bangs dangle in the middle of my forehead.]

The bobby pins started to hurt my scalp after a while, so I took twists out, spritzed that side of my hair with water, and pulled it back with pins:
