Hello, My name is Anaïse (it sounds like “Anna-is”) and my pseudo is Ananas which means pineapple! I’m from French Guyana in South America, between Brazil and Surinam- I’m a french native so I don’t speak english fluently. Bare with me!
CN: How long have you been natural?
I Big Chopped in October of ’04 for the 2nd and last time! So it’s been 6 years!
CN: Were you a long term or short term transitioner, and why?
I was a short term transitioner because of the difficulty to manage my hair! About 2-3 months…I thought I would avoid the breakage.
CN: What is your current regimen?
I’ve got none! I just listen to my hair and try to take care of it everyday:
- Favorite shampoos, conditioners, and deep conditioners– Nunaat Brazil Nut, Garnier Avocado & Shea butter, Corine de Farme’s Mango line (France), Bioshine Aloe Vera Intense (Brazil), Organic Root Stimulator
- Hair cream, hair milks- Vioplantes, Curl Junkie, Organic Root Stimulator, Bioshine Aloe, Croissance Plus. Since I’m trying not to use chemical laden products, I’ve ordered a lot of products from Oyin, Curls, Beemine, Mixed Chicks and Darcy’s…I’m waiting!
- Oils- Cupuacu, Brazil nut, Jojoba, Avocado, Argan…
CN: How do you maintain Length? Moisture?
I try to wear protective hairstyles such as twists, as often as possible. I make sure to use moisturizing creams or milks to maintain my hair’s health and thickness.
CN: Night time routine?
I prefer to braid my hair with a moisturizing cream/milk or I just fasten it with an elastic band.
CN: What would you tell a new natural, or transitioning diva?
Go on! You will hear unkind remarks, but pay them no mind! Care not. Do you, feel good, and enjoy your natural hair journey!
CN: What’s the best thing about being naturally glamorous?
I just feel prettier and now know that I was wrong to think it would be too hard to manage my natural hair…accepting my hair has helped me accept my self.
CN: Anything else you want to add?
I love your hair Nikki! You do a good job and it’s so cool to find more and more information and also reliable product reviews for natural hair care! Ladies, don’t be afraid to experiment with your kinky hair!
Her picture (first one) is in Google Images and I put in my Grow Your Natural and Forward Africa blog! I plan on using her pic as one of the signatures for Grow Your Natural.
Absolutely Gorgeous! GrowYourNatural.blogspot.com
Love you all so much!
Beautiful! So inspiring!
What happened to listing hair type? I loved seeing the success of type 4 ladies. The general consensus is that type 4 will at best grow to brastrap length (when straigth), and that people like sera2425 are flukes. Seeing those wonderful ladies gave me hope.
Your hair is stunning, love your hair.
I've been to Guyana, South America. Not the French part though. ^-^ I saw no naturals rocking hair that gorgeous. I should have gone your way Ananas! I absolutely adore your hair. Keep up the good work. I think the best advice you mentioned is to listen to your hair. It does speak to us just as our body does. Great JOB in maintaining such delicious length! (lol! Obviously I am hungry)…
