Uuughk i envy her thickness and density!! So beautiful im also a 4b and wouldnt wanna be anythng else!!! N85 u go girl!!!!

  • SweetThang says:

SMH @ how this post is more of an argument over hair texture rather than disscussing her detangling technique.

  • Carla says:

Thank you for the video! I feel like I'm constantly losing hair. I don't think I'm using enough conditioner while detangling.

    @ Cher Niki
It's not a matter of hate, but definitely based on observations and comments. I realised that it is a tough exterior that she is projecting, and perhaps underneath she is just guarded. And why you wonder? Because I was the same way, until someone pointed out to me that I was cynical, among other things. I did some soul searching and have learned to tone it down some. My hope is that she too will, she seems to be allowing "dislikes" on her videos.

Thanks to all the YouTubers that take the time and share the knowledge regarding hair techniques…..I'm sure we all agree that we've learned something from them regardless of their attitudes and energy they exude. If not, just keep clickin.

Love Naptural and that detangling technique. Thanks!

@Anon 11:43. "the other youtuber" compared to Naptural85 doesn't seem that condescending to me. She provides a lot of great information regarding hair care. Why the hate towards her? She just has a different style from Naptural85. "The Other Youtuber" also owns a business for natural haircare so she is pretty serious about her brand and product while Napturual85 does not own a business outside of being a partner on youtube. I don't think you need to put one down so that you can build the other up.

I'm okay with typing. Everything that works on a 3c does not work on my 4a hair or come out the same and I live to see how a certain style or product worked on someone with my same texture before trying it.

  • Toybox Playground says:

Her hair is fantastic no matter what type she is. I don't know what my hairtype is and I've been researching since I BC'd. My big problem is I CANNOT for the life of me get my hair to shine. It always looks dull or dry although it doesn't feel that way. So I'm super jealous (in a good way) of her hair, need to change my routine I guess and spend more time with my curls. I have two little girls as well and their hair is very different from mine and each others, so I'm always a bit confused trying to find things since one thing may not work for all 🙁

    @Anon 11:43…perfectly said!

It would be nice to do away with the typing system altogether but let's get real, the only naturals who are not complicit in, supportive of or buying into the typing system are the fortunate ones IRL who don't know it exists. All over the internet, lines are clearly drawn between blogs and hair boards. There are the sites for kinky, tightly coiled 4as and bs, the ones for or run by people with curly hair, 3cs. Whole product lines use this system, Naturally Curly is categorised using the typing system keeping everyone in neat little lanes that shall never cross paths and many people have been members/are members of that site. Truth is many people do cling to that heirarchical nature of the typing system and the idea that they are somehow better as a 4a or 3c than someone who is 4b. In a short space of time, typing has been ingrained and embraced by naturals. The funny thing is, I cannot find one article or piece of info from the creator himself on what it's actual purpose and meaning is, just a whole lot of interpretation from people who are hellbent on using it to make themselves feel that little bit more special than someone else.

Yeah love Naptural 85 (aka DearNaptural). She presents a variety of information and her methods are easy to follow.

BTW She has a humble spirit. So while Anonymous 6:02 wrote that her videos are on par with another You Tuber, her attitude is more mature and certainly not condescending.

Thanks CurlyNikki for featuring Naptural85's video! I love her YouTube videos & am a subbie! Ladies, if you haven't checked her out, do so, you won't regret it. Not only does she have wonderful hair videos but she has 1 or 2 cooking videos too (I love her turkey burger recipe 8-D).

    P.S.
I don't subscribe to the curl classification system either, too confusing if you ask me & not accurate enough since a lot of naturals have more than 1 texture mixed in with their strands!

i love her hair! very pretty, and always looks so shiny, moist, and dark! her hair must be super healthy. i hope mine can be on that level someday.

btw, my two strand twistouts never turn out like hers! i'm so green lol.

  • Unknown says:

Why does it even matter "hair texture typing"? It's so rediclous…because it seems to get out of hand with some naturals. It's almost like ppl have just found another way to claim 'better hair' from others. Why not just enjoy one anothers vids and their journey and K.I.M.?! SMH…disappointed. 🙁

BTW~ I just adore N85 as well as all of you, Curlfriends! 🙂

  • Lakshmi's Cupboard says:

She moves thru her detangling process FAST!! Clearly she's doing something right if she shed so little hair.

Yes the tangle teezer is awesome on my 4a/4b hair. Way better than the denman.

Love Naptural85. Her hair is so fabulous. Also try that hair wash, it is really the next best thing.

  • Breanna says:

Yeah Naptural85 is so good I really love her videos, I have her saved as one of my favorites on my computer. Thanks CN for asking to get it embedded, and we can enjoy this and more in the future. But ladies definitely check out her youtube page, she's really good also she has an alternate channel called Dearnaptural85 as well.

    ————————————————-

I was just curious has anyone tried the product called "Tangle Tweezer" thats used to detangle hair? I just brought it this evening after hearing good things on BGLH and just wondered if you ladies have used this to detangle your hair with as well?

  • Tonya says:

Great video! I actually follow a similar regime.

  • Anonymous says:

I agree with Nikki. I don't subscribe to the whole curl classification system. I don't see anything wrong with the disclaimer since she wasn't the one calling her a 4. People tell me I'm a 4a, but according to the system, I'm pretty sure I'm 4b. Whatever.

  • CURLYNIKKI says:

and yes, her vids rock! I hope to feature more in the near future, hint hint 😉 Thanks Naptural85!

  • CURLYNIKKI says:

    Hola Chicas,

I didn't mean any harm! I wrote 'self described' because I don't like to put folks in categories. I'm only so-so on hair typing. I wanted to be clear that she calls herself 4a, not I… she's just a gorgeous natural to me 🙂

  • Anonymous says:

Why self described? To me N85 is one of the truest 4a heads on the internet/youtube. A lot of people are told they are 3C or 4a when you can see that their hair has some all over coiling but is not uniform coils from root to tip. N85 has loads of tiny coils that look like the description of 4a. Remember typing is just about CURL DIAMETER not about who has silky hair, cottony, shiny, spongy or coarse hair. So many people fail to realise this hence we get people with acres of frizz mixed with 4a coffee stirrer coils being labelled 4a only by others on hair forums who don't understand typing and are often thrown by a persons texture. 3C seems to be the only hair type people agree on even though it's made up and causes many people who are 4a to claim 3C and people who are 3C to claim 4a mistakenly. Even 4b is subject to mass debate. People think 4b has zero coils so is like a straight kinky texture which would look like blown out hair and others say 4b is zig zag or that it does have coils. Zig zag hair sounds like a fallacy that AW just made up or it could be tiny springs when stretched. Hair typing was just a guide for him to do some hair and make it easier to remember his clients and their hair needs but has turned into something completely different in the hands of the natural community.

N85 has good videos on a par with Ktube.

Everyone self-describes attributes about themselves lol. I don't get the disclaimer that was written.

  • Anonymous says:

Why you wrote "her self-described 4a hair" as if she is lying or something…

  • luvmylocs says:

informative video. did you use a dryer or just go to sleep on it? all the product you used melted in nicely. sometimes i still have white stuff in my hair. very nice skin too!

  • Anonymous says:

    Great looking head of hair!

  • lovnit85 says:

That was really helpful. I've been losing so much hair detangling!

  • TiAnna Mae says:

Her hair is gorgeous!!!! Is she really a 4A? I still have trouble with the whole classification of curls. Informative video too!
