Show and Tell- Fierce Friday!

Hola chicas!

It’s that time again! The images below are of CN readers at their flyyest…at work, on the town, and with the fam. Showing us all that natural hair is not a fad, it’s a way of life…an extension of our beauty! Click on the images to enlarge them:

Syl and Baby G
Taken right before Christmas. Syl’s hair was freshly pressed and Gia’s… let’s just say I let it do what it do.

Sarita aka M3chCurlz
I’m an Aircraft Mechanic working in Japan. This is a picture of me letting my hair down for a night on the town with some co-workers. I’m rockin’ one of my favorite styles… the braid-out! It’s great for my busy lifestyle. So when I’m pressed for time, I let my cornrows out, and I’m out the door!
BTW love your Blog ๐Ÿ™‚Show and Tell- Fierce Friday!

I was visiting my parents in Brockton, Mass, about to head to my cousin’s 5th birthday party, when I snapped this photo. I was sporting my favorite go-to style – a twist-out with flat twists in the front. Since I have a short-medium ‘fro (I big chopped June ’10), this is a ‘do that most complements me. And you know I had to garnish my tresses with this funky, silver ball headband. ๐Ÿ™‚Show and Tell- Fierce Friday!

Latasha
This is me with a chunky bantu knot-out and some make up to make myself look fresh. I live in Brelin, Germany.Show and Tell- Fierce Friday!

Hey yall! In this pic I was in my dorm room. I just got back from my school’s homecoming step show at Claflin University. My hair is in a fro-hawk, I just used a little gel and water to slick my hair back and I put in an accessory I got from Target on the side of my hair.Show and Tell- Fierce Friday!

Vonnie
I finally tried pineappleing to stretch my hair and it was AWESOME! I had the prettiest, biggest, curliest ‘fro that I received so many compliments on. I washed with pure aloe shampoo and olive oil, conditioned with Curls coconut sublime conditioner, slathered with kinky curly curling custard and then pulled it into scrunchies with a wrap on the front (to lay down the edges because I thought that I was going to leave it in a puff). Didn’t like how the puff turned out the next morning, but when I pulled off the scrunchie, it was soooo bouncy and curly! the front was still smooth and slicked back perfectly, so I pushed a headband back on my hair (headband is from Forever 21 since everyone has been asking) and rocked out.

Hey there! This braid-out is the work of a miracle – seriously. I got home at 6, braided my hair into 5 big braids, sprayed it with my water+aussiemoist+aloe+olive oil concoction, prayed that it would get at least get a little dry – and was out the door by 9! My hair is extremely thick so I wasn’t expecting it to dry but it turned out pretty good! We were at a lounge over the holidays meeting up with old friends (let me add that I was the only natural). First off I LOVE your site. It’s given me so much inspiration and encouragement (especially when I was transitioning). This is me out celebrating my birthday. I’m sporting a 2-day old twist- out.Show and Tell- Fierce Friday!

Tara
I was trying out a braid-out with side cornrows since I religiously do twist-outs. New pattern, new look! Hope you like! Love the forum, its changed my life!!! Show and Tell- Fierce Friday!
Sheri
This is my best braid-out, yet. I hope I can repeat! I did about 12 braids and I rolled the ends with red flexi-rods.

KQSmith
Here’s a pic from my 1st fitness competition where I rocked a braidout and my ends rolled with perm rods. Sorry Iโ€™m so orange, LOL, I unfortunately had to wear tanner on stage. Regardless, this was one of the BEST days of my life and in turn, one of the BEST braidouts Iโ€™ve done. This is my signature style and itโ€™s gotten me to where I am now which is 18months into my transition, which is further than Iโ€™ve ever been in my 5 or 5 failed transition attempts LOL! Iโ€™m awaiting a VERY important phone call in the next few days and IF I donโ€™t get it, Iโ€™ll be doing the big chop for the New Year (I think). Show and Tell- Fierce Friday!

**If you don’t see yourself today, rest assured that you’ll be up in the coming weeks! I post in the order I receive them!**

**To submit**:
Send in your favorite picture with a caption detailing where you were (or where you were headed to), along with a brief description of your hairstyle, to nikki@curlynikki.com. I’ll post several each Friday. Be sure to use ‘Fierce Friday’ as the subject line!
We need more for next week!

    Everyone's hair is absolutely fierce!!!!!
Also, I would like to know what Syl uses to protect her hair when she straightens it. I haven't straighten for almost a year but I have seriously been thinking about it due to the cold weather.

What a great group of ladies to start of 2011! Love the looks ladies (especially baby Gia feeling for some teeth!)

I must add that Sarita and KQSmith you're both inspirational (conquering male dominated fields). And Vonnie my Bantu / braid out looked like your pic (lol), really nice.

Nikki, tell Baby Gia that's the way we do it. We let our hair fly free and do what it do cuz we are Free to be Fly!! (LOL) Syl's hair is very pretty and shiny, hats off to her pressed out look. As for the rest of our FIERCE friday women, they look great!! I agree with Hair2ToeBeauty, there are quite a few ladies with hair styles that I would love to stalk and find out info. on their haircare regimens.(LOL.)

Nikki – could you tell us the technique your sister uses to press her hair? Inquiring minds want to know. And tell baby G her hair is fierce!

  • Breanna says:

Wow all of these hairstyles look so good, and I had to add a couple to my favorite lis. Especially Kqsmith now thats a great diet motivation for me to keep in shape. I did a style similiar to Tara except I only had 3 flat twists on the left side of my face, but it still came out really pretty. Also ladies check out this gorgeous Puff that I just came across, it left me drooling also love the outfit http://blkgirlsrock.tumblr.com/post/2636872237

Nikki!! Would it be possible to include fotki links or whatnot to the ladies who choose to share! I see so many that need stalking! ๐Ÿ™‚

Beautiful! I am drawn to Syl's hair. Is it possible to pursue the proper technique for straightening hair (eg. pressing) for the curlies who occasionally like to rock the straight look. May be a good topic of interest. Thanks!

The theme of the day appears to be braid outs… Looking good ladies, I can't wait for mine to grow out some more, so I can try that style.
