What's Your Passion?

The one thing you’d do for free… that puts a smile on your face…
that makes you unafraid of failure.

Better late than never…..dancing and beautiful music!

My true passion is actually animals. I work at a zoo, and I didn't realize how much my love of animals played a role in my life. After I started to work at a zoo, I realized that my dream is to be out in the rainforest, tundra, or savannah doing research on animals and ways to help them in the wild. I think there would be nothing better than waking up on the African savannah with elephants as the first thing I lay eyes on!

I am a nurturer by nature. I have the best feeling in the world when I help correct posture alignment in a victim of a car accident or a person who suffers from muscular-dystrophy and the happiness they exude in my presence (most adults do not smile and I have seen so many genuine smiles in my new career more than I ever have). The list goes on and on. I am delighted and proud to say that next month I will be graduating with my certification in Neuromuscular therapy, Clinical Sports Massage, and knowledgable advistment for Nutritional consultations. I can work with a chiropractor, dentist (for TMJ clients), wellness center, or what in the long run I plan on having my own practice. I discovered my dream about five years ago right before I left professional dance(ballet, pointe, etc.). I work full time currently and went to school full time as well. During the program I pretty much walked out on faith that I could do both and keep my health intact. Not having to study as much and still get A's on my exams and quizzes I realized I am doing exactly what comes naturally to me and I felt more alive. I would also say yes make a living off of a career that you would do if you did not get paid but also one that makes you feel more alive, it makes you feel your in control more of your life, you feel empowered, you get inspired, and you talk about it often.

It's funny that this topic came up because I have been fasting and meditating for the month of January asking for clarity regarding finding my true calling. I have always LOVED cosmetics but I never wanted to be a makeup artist. For years (I’m now 37) have toyed with the idea of going back to school for cosmetics marketing & management. Yesterday I have decided to take the first steps towards my lifelong dream.

My passion is working with children as a speech therapist. I have fun singing, dancing, and targeting goals through play. One of my biggest passions is anything "hair". Since my permie days I loved styling my hair. Now I enjoy creating styles on my natural textured hair which has so many style options. It's a true joy blogging, making video tutorials, writing, taking pictures, and also reading great blogs like this one to learn new style ideas. My other passion is dance, and learning and practicing my "Spanish". I also enjoy giving an uplifting word of encouragement to anyone in need.

My passsion is supporting empowering children, teens, women and families of color. I'm a Social worker, and love helping all of my clients but working with clients whose skin or cultural experience mirror my own, really warms my heart and inspires me.

My passion is writing Inspirational Christian poetry. I've been writing since the age of 12, now going on 22 years old it was when I got saved in 2008 I discovered it was my calling in life. The closer I became to God the more profound my poetry would be. I would write and God would minister. I'm looking to publish soon. I just thank God I was able to live for Him at a yound age and for Him to reveal my calling to me.

My passion is baking sweets. From cakes, cookies, candies and pies. I quit my job in April to persue it full time and I am in love with the God given talent I have been allowed to have more and more every day. I am amazed at what I have been able to do, and pray that 2011 is the year I get to open my store front. After that is traveling. I always said if baking didn't work then I want a gig that will have me travel to distant places.

Running and reading with children. While neither is my actual career, those are the things I love most. I actually loathe my career these days and wish there were a way to make my passions a bigger part of my life.

Buying home decor and even clothes on sale/clearance or at a thrift store and then transforming it into something fabulous with a bottle of spray paint, needle & thread, and the use of my computer. (Soon, I'll add a sewing machine to this list.) I also love shopping for low priced home decor in Ross, Marshalls, and TJMaxx.

Also, making logos, designing layouts, writing articles, and taking pictures to photoshop.

Food and cooking. I love to eat and I love to cook. I learned to cook when I was 12yrs old and continue to cook every day until I left for college. Then I went through a rebellious-I'm an independent woman-I don't need to cook for anyone-stage until my mid-tweties.

But alas, I couldn't stay away from it forever. I started hosting get-togethers at my place for my friends and my family and cooking up a storm. I just love it, it's one of the ways I learned to show how much I care. It fills me with infinite joy.

Definitely ministry. Whether bible study, praise and worship, raising money and donating items and services for people in need, prayer or just a hug…You can't put a price on serving God with your entire life.

So many things, but at the top of the list is makeup. I could do that all day and talk about it all darn day. Lol

My passion is reading and writing along with music/ entertaining. I actually started my own entertainment company where I do offer my multimedia skills for free. I give a voice to people who want to be heard and who don't really know how to go about been seen or heard. My ultimate goal is to be able to provide an outlet for children to be able to express their selves through the arts with the help of my personal passions (writing and entertaining).

This topic makes me smile. I am passionate about politics. FoxNews, CNN,MSNBC, and everything in between and to the extreme. Im a Political Science and English major studying for law school, but I see myself running for senator one day. Politics affects our lives whether we care about it or not, from the TV we watch, to a child's schooling ;its everywhere. My point of interest is mainly capitalism and the pros and cons of being in a capitalist society. 🙂

Music, researching, and listening to people's problems. I love discovering a new artist who's music isn't the cookie cutter stuff we hear on the radio. People including strangers like telling me their problems so much so that I used to want to be a psychologist. I love researching different topics and can usually find anything I'm looking for online. ~KF519

Is it sad to say I don't really know what my passion is? I have been sruggling with this a lot more lately because I dont feel that I have something I can truely say I love doing. I'm trying to find what my God given talent is and work on it. Any suggestions on how to go about finding that talent?

Singing…I've been doing for as long as I can remember and am quite good at it. I sing solos at church, on campus, and am asked quite often to do community events as well. It's the one place I feel total peace and completeness with myself. When I close my eyes and let my soul carry the sound out, there is no where else in the world I'd rather be.

Helping people. I love talking with people and making them happy. I love saying or doing something that will put a smile on a person's face. I'm 45 and I knew when I was in high school I wanted to help people in whatever way possible. To make someone happy makes me happy. I feel that's my passion.

I learned to cook at the hip of my mother and grandmother. I've done alot of things trying to please every one else. But for years, something was missing. I was unhappy and not living up to my full potential. My passion for food led me to become a chef. The best decision I've ever made!

Working in some type of home (the word shelter makes me sad) for animals. My last job depressed me so much; sometimes I would go to the doggy day care up the street and watch them play. Nothing makes me smile more than seeing puppies throwing squeeze toys around, just being happy and adorable. I have met so many animal lovers just from walking my own dogs, they have helped me get out of my shell.

  • Neesh says:

Working with children. I knew it was my passion because about 8 years ago, I didn't even want any. Now, I don't know what to do without them. I think I realized working with children (preferably troubled girls 7-12) was my passion when I used to see these troubled females in schools or on the bus and wanted to know who was in their lives teaching them how to be better. I figured I would be that person if I ever had the opportunity and now I am in school to do just that.
