By January 27th, 202162 Comments

Shea Moisture Coming to a Walgreens Near You!Shea Moisture announced that their hair collection will be at Walgreens on April 1, 2011! I had the pleasure of meeting Richelieu Dennis and Nyema Tubman, founders of the line, and they confirmed it. They’ll be starting off with a few regions and expanding over time. Exciting times!

Janelle says:

Nikki,
Love the blog it’s taken me through many a hairum scarum event. At the hair show that you just recently went to, it was announced that Shea Moisture products will be hitting the shelves at everyone’s local Walgreens! I can hardly contain my excitement…now I dont have to stalk Amazon since it’s usually sold out at my Target. A great affordable product within arms reach.
Are you a Shea Moisture fan? What’s your favorite Shea Moisture product?

I'm happy that there really is a Repair and Transition Kit for someone like me who wants to go back to natural hair. I was introduced to the Shea Moisture line from my "Moms", who purchased it from Walgreens. I like that the ingredients for this kit have good stuff to help our hair. No petroleum, mineral oil, or beeswax, and is able to keep your hair soft and manageable? That's a winner in my book!

Thank you for posting this! None of the Targets in my area sell the Curl Enhancing Smoothie, but my Walgreens do for the same price! YAY!!! Thank you Curly Nikki!

  • Anonymous says:

LOVE THIS STUFF!! I use the Coconut & Hibiscus Styling Milk under the Curl Enhancing Smoothie which adds extreme moisture and softness all day long to my new TWA.

  • Anonymous says:

Just saw shea moisture in my local walgreens…you all are already on it! I didn't buy it because there was no price but I am sure it will probably be $9.99.

  • Nichole says:

i just tried the shea moisture restorative shampoo and conditioner, deep cleansing shampoo. The deep cleansing shampoo works great on randruff. i cant wait to try the rest of the line!

  • Anonymous says:

i am so in love with shea moisture deep treatment masque!! i use it everyday to moisturize my hair.

  • Anonymous says:

@ anon Feb 22, 2011 8:29pm I saw it at the Duane Reade in Forest Hills and in Kew Gardens at Union Turnpike & Queens Blvd.

  • Anonymous says:

Yep glad that it's coming to Walgreens so excited, saves a little bit of gas money lol…. OH Curlynikki, how about Vanessa A. Williams "Melrose Place and Soul Food Shows"? for a curly interview :).

  • NaturalNique says:

@ Anonymous February 21, 2011 9:42 PM this link tells you how to use the products but doesn't give info on what works best together. Hope it helps. http://www.sheamoisture.com/files/SheaMoisture_Organic_Hair_Products_Info%208.18.10.pdf

This news is so exciting, since Target is a good distance from where I live. I hope that my local Walgreens will sell SheaMoisture products. My favorite is the Hold, Moisture, & Shine Mist. It gives my hair some serious sheen and it smells good! I haven't tried anymore of their products, yet! Eventually, I will!

  • iri9109 says:

3 walgreens are basically right around the corner from me! and on 1 on my way to school…i hope one of those 4 get it…i want to try the whole line

  • Anonymous says:

…@ anon 8:03 p.m. do tell which DR in Queens sells this line. Thanks.

  • Anonymous says:

Alter Ego commented on this and I can confirm. For you New York naturals, Sheamoisture is now at Duane Reade. I thought it was a fluke, but I saw it in 2 different locations in Queens, NY today. And not in the neighborhoods you would expect either (if you know what I mean). $2 more than at Target though 🙁

  • Luscious Mahogany says:

I am like many of you with Shea Moisture products. I love the Curl Enhancing Smoothie use it every day to redefine my curls on my TWA in the mornings. I also have the masque which I need to start using at night as a leave in. But yes those products smell really good which is important. Bravo Walgreens!!

  • Anonymous says:

Love SM products! I use the Restorative Conditioner as a leave in, Curl Enhancing Smoothie, and Hold and Shine spray. I'm glad they're coming to Walgreens though, because Target is a little far from my house, and Walgreens is down the street.

  • Blknwhtbeauty says:

Love Shea Moisture! The smells are amazing, I love the Curl and Shine shampoo and Curl Enhancing Smoothie.

  • aggieche says:

I am all about Shea Moisture. I use the black soap for shampoo, the masque for a leave in conditioner, and the curl enhancing smoothie for my twist outs.

  • sandra says:

once I get over product junkey habit like anonymous above I will buy it. It seems every month new products are coming out not including the ones by our you tubers. With all these products out maybe natural hair is here to stay or a whole lot of corporations will loose revenues.

  • JW says:

Shea moisture hair products are already being sold at a Duane Reade (soon to be Walgreens) on 14th street Union square in Manhattan, NYC. I was amazed when I saw them cuz now I can just go to the walgreens up the block instead begging my mom to drive me to target lol. I live by the curl enhancin smoothie and the moisture mask. I use the smoothie every day. Surprisingly I don't finish mine in a month or less. I love this product and how my hair feels when I do a twist or braid out. Only issue is that when I am doin my hair my hands are sticky after. But I LOVE LOVE this product.

Wait a minute did someone write that they own the Nubian Heritage Line? They closed the Jamaica Ave. store (Queens NY) and I have not been a happy camper. The NH body scrubs are awesome. Okay off to check out this line.

    Greetings from NY.

  • LaWanda S says:

Yucca & Baobab Thickening Moisture Mist, and Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque work great in my hair.

  • Anonymous says:

Do you know if they are getting rid of the nubian heritage line?

  • Anonymous says:

I use the restorative conditioner as a leave in and daily moisturizer, it works really well. The moisture retention shampoo is also great!

  • Anonymous says:

shea moisture is ehh for me. the coconut and hibiscus styling hair milk is ok, probably won't repurchase it. the curl enhancing smoothie was a no go for me…I used it on wet hair, dry hair, damp hair, as a deep condition, every way I could think of lol…my hair just doesn't like it

  • Anonymous says:

Yay! I love SheaMoisture! I use the Shea Butter Restorative line, and my hair loves it! I use the shampoo and the conditioner as a leave-in. I think I'll try the spray mist next. Has anyone tried the Coconut & Hibicus shampoo? If so, what was your experience?

  • Anonymous says:

im a total shea moisture fan. i love the cocnut & hibiscus styling hair milk. its my fav. target was sold out so when i finally found it i had to stock up. im glad to know that i have more options now 😉

  • Anonymous says:

always wanted to try this line, my local targets don't carry shea moisture. I am wondering is this going to be at every walgreens or at certain ones only?

  • SoulfulSista says:

My favorite is the Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo, but I also love the Curl Enhancing Smoothie.

  • The Terrarium says:

I love their curl and shine shampoo and I tried out their Frankincence and Myrrh shea butter (1st time I've ever used shea butter!) with much, much success. The shampoo never left my hair stripped and made detangling easier. The shea butter smells wonderfully earthy. A lot of my friends love the way I (err..my hair) smells when I use this product. Like some of the previous commentators, I am also a big fan of the fact that the company is black owned.

  • Anonymous says:

I do like the curl smoothie, but I just wish they included information on the best way to use certain products…like what can be used together and if it works best on wet hair or dry hair.

  • texture me natural says:

I am so excited to hear that SheaMoisture will now be in Walgreens. There is a Walgreens a little bit closer to me than Target. I love the coconut and hibiscus line. I can't wait to try some of their other items.

  • Anonymous says:

I am in love with ALL the shampoos and my fav is the coconut and hibiscus one

  • Anonymous says:

EVERYTHING in the organic shea but line and everything in the hibiscus & Coconut line from the hair to the face to the body products! I LOVE THEM ALL!

  • Anonymous says:

I love Shea Moisture! Sometimes I feel like I should use several products, like everyone else or because I havent used alot of other products, that cost an arm, leg and a thigh. But these are really good on my hair. But I will keep with a couple of their items as a staple but Im still curious with Miss Jessie even though her ingredients are not natural. And Im trying to stay as natural as possible. Keep it simple!

  • Unknown says:

My fav is the Deep Treatment Masque. I use it as a pre-poo/dc treatment. Softens my hair up nicely!

I love, love, love this line. I currently use the Curl Enhancing Smoothie, Conditioning Curl & Style Milk, and the Moisture Retention Shampoo. I love, love, love it!!!!

  • Anonymous says:

I love Shea Moisturizer so this is good news! I use the African Black Soap Conditioner and the Curl Enhancing Shampoo.

  • Sharmer says:

You ladies that live in area with high African Americsn populated areas are sooo lucky. I live in Oklahoma, and you are just not going to find products by Shea Moisture, Miss Jesse 's, and CURLS at the Targets that we have here because 1. They are built close to areas mainly populated with white people, and 2. The natural hair boom is still not that popular here, meaning ladies are still breaking their necks to get relaxers and weaves as soon as the first sign of a "kink-a-bug" pops up. It's sooo irritating!! I guess I should be happy that I can still get things like pure shea butter at my local BSS store, but still! Lol, it would be nice to not HAVE to order certain products online and pay for s/h.

  • Anonymous says:

Yes, mine too is the Curl Enhancing Smoothie and also the Hold & Shine Moisture Mist Spray. I've tried too, the Moisture shampoo, if you let it stand on your hair, it's really thick and moisturizing! I hope Walgreens keep it at the lovely price of $9.99 (like Target), now come on Walmart!

  • LB says:

I've been using Curl Enhancing Smoothie, Hold and Shine Moisture Mist spray and the Restorative Conditioner, and the results are incredible for either a wash n go OR a twist out. I love it. I just got Kinky Twists with extensions for the first time and I'm using the Moisture Mist Spray to keep my scalp and hair (twisted up in the added hair) moisturized. I'm also using some of the Restorative Conditioner (just a few thick drops) in a water bottle to spray on my hair to keep it conditioned/moisturized. Shea Moisture is my staple product. Just wish I found them sooner. Been natural for 11 years. 🙂

  • Anonymous says:

I would love to try this product, but I am a recovering product junky! I haven't even been to Ulta in about 2 weeks. This is a milestone for me. I am sure once I finish whats in my cabinet I will probably try something by SheaMoisture. -Recovering Product Junky-

  • AuNaturelDivaApparelOnlineStore says:

Hands down, the CURL SMOOTHIE!!!! Happy for their success!!! 🙂

  • Anonymous says:

Love Shea Moisture!!!! My mom just called to ask for one of her co-workers that is transitioning what product to use and I said – Shea Moisture! I love the deep conditioning treatment and shampoo!

  • Enjoying Joy says:

I love the elixir and I love the Curl Enhancing Smoothie. I Hope Walgreens does better than Target keeping the product in stock. Target in Richmond VA is AWFUL with keeping these items ready for purchase. I have to go to one target for something, another target for something else. WALGREENS, I HOPE YOU'RE READING THIS! I will buy from you since Walgreens is a reg. staple store me.

  • Miss Cyndi says:

This is amazing! *wipes away tear* I was just talking about Shea Moisture, my favorite is the Curl Enhancing Smoothie! That cream keeps my hair so moisturized throughout the day,I can't believe it sometimes. Great line of products overall!

  • NaturalNique says:

I LUV the Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibscus Conditioning Curl & Style Milk. It is my all time favorite for twist outs(staple), Curl Enhancing Smoothie – for a little added hold. I just bought the Curl Enhancer and restorative masque I can't wait till wash day

  • Natural Sunshine says:

I love everything that I have tried by Shea Moisture. Shea Butter, Curl Enhancer on wash & go and dry twist. I recently purchased the Curl Milk and the deep conditioner. I never tried their skin care line. I will have to try it since my acne has been bad lately.

I didn't like the SM Coconut Hibiscus Smoothie on my dry satin scarf braid out. My hair was kind of tacky to touch and dull, with little to no hold. When I used it on damp hair for a TnC, it was very fluffy and soft, but my hair fell very quickly and didn't really last beyond day one. However, when I used it on 80-90% dry hair mixed with some Eco Styler Olive Oil gel for a TnC, it worked very well. My hair was defined, shiny, soft and had nice hold. I received a lot of compliments when I styled with that combo (the pic is on CurlyNikki's FB page in the photo uploads from fans if you're interested in seeing my results). That's the only SM product I've tried thus far. There are many Targets in NJ, but this product seems to only be kept in stock in a couple stores and those are not close to home. So, I ordered the smoothie from Amazon after seeing Mop Top Maven's results with it. She didn't like the shrinkage, but I'm always trying to encourage mine! I didn't really notice any increased curliness or shrinkage, but my hair was very soft and held well with the SM/Eco combo. Now that it's going to be carried in Walgreens, I'm hoping to be able to more readily obtain some of the other products for which I've read rave reviews!

I love the deep treatment masque finally I dont have to drive 20 -30 mintues to my local target

  • Anonymous says:

SheaMoisture Coconut&Hibscus Conditioning Curl & Style Milk has been great since I finally learned how to use it on my hair. I've managed to stretch my twist-out to a week using it. I use the style milk on freshly washed or co-washed hair. I put a little jojoba (or olive oil) and curl/style milk on a small section, then twist.
I re-twist every night with a little water from a spray bottle (just to slightly dampen) and just a dab of the style milk and oil. This routine yields a pretty fresh looking 7-day old twistout style with no build-up or tacky feeling. I know it's the style milk that made the difference because I experimented using the style milk on one side of my head first to compare the results. The side without the style milk was frizzier, duller and not quite as soft after a couple of days. I'm glad they will be carrying it in Walgreens, which is closer than that the Target where I shop now.

Oh GoD YES!! I love Shea Moisture Shea Butter Moisturing Shampoo and the Deep Treatment Masque!!!!

  • Crystal says:

I Use the curl enhancing smoothie on my twists and the African black soap bar on my face. I love them both!!!

  • LaMaraVilla says:

Nice! Now maybe I can try the line. It's not in my local target since I don't live in an "urban" area.

  • Anonymous says:

Me too Anon 2:55…i love that it's black owned. I'm still shock that it is two men tho. Not that men cannot make hair products for women. But from the "Our Story" on their products, I guess I just assumed otherwise..

  • Anonymous says:

maybe I should've used the Deep Treatment Masque as a leave-in and not as a deep conditioner because I did not get great results. I just purchased the Curl Enhancing Smoothie but tried it on wet hair…guess I will be trying it on dry hair lol.

thanks for the suggestions ladies 🙂

I <3 Shea Moisture products! I use the African Black Soap Shampoo and the Deep Treament Masque (as a leave-in conditioner).

The shampoo keeps my scalp healthy and my hair clean without loss of moisture. The Deep Treatment Masque is the best leave in conditioner ever–it leave my hair soft, fluffy (yet defined) and fragrant after using it.

    I'm so glad Shea Moisture is expanding. It's a a wonderful brand and I'm glad it's Clack-owned. 🙂

I use the curl enhancing smoothie for my dry twist outs. For some reason the product doesn't really work well when my hair is wet but on my dry stretched hair it is awesome!

Since Shea Moisture are not at any of the Targets in my area, I sure hope they come to MY Walgreens. I haven't had the pleasure of using it yet because its not in my metro area (Portland, OR)
