Water and Olive Oil…that's it! I use this combo as a combout detangler as well as a styling product. I used it to create my two-strand twists – not a lot, but just enough to mist it well – and let it air dry. Voila! In the morning, curls so soft and shiny! Simple and low cost!
I use Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose Conditioner, and that stuff is the BEST for deep conditioning! I swear, weekly DTs with that stuff, makes my hair better! Baggying helps it, but I think what softens it up the most is daily or frequent cowashing and using all natural and organic products! And not alot of it either
How do you combat dryness? My hair is fine when I use grease and deep condition. However when I have slept in a satin scarf the next day my sides are dry even when I plait, cornrow or twist it at night. How do you combat dryness? Please note I have been transitioning for 12 months. I want to do the big chop, but I am worried that when I twist it the style will not last long due to dryness. I need some advice. Will silk scarf make any difference?
Kimmaytube leave in, shea moisure conitioning milk, and a few drops of jojoba oil covered with a silk scarf leaves me with a soft moisturized twist out for about a week. My hair drinks this stuff up.
My hair is at its softest when I do a two strand twist. I shampoo with Mix chicks. Then I may do a deep conditioner with Shea Moisture Shea Butter, apply Mixed Chicks leave in. After I apply the leave in I put in a little Miss Jessie Curly Pudding. I apply a loc butter to every two strand twist. My hair is shiny and well moisturized.
my hair is definitely at its softest after a henna treatment 🙂
after my henna, I deep condition with miss jessie's sweetback treatment and a bit of jojoba oil. I let it sit in my hair for about an hour while I clean, and then rinse it out. it leaves my hair incredibly soft and shiny 🙂
Soft hair…I co-wash with something cheap, then again with Herbal Essence Hello Hydration and two teaspoons of honey. Teeshirt dry. Rub some coconut oil through my hair and apply a mix of castor oil and rosemary to my scalp. Massage everything in. Pow, pow, pow; soft hair 🙂
i am so proud of my soft hair! it may not be long or super thick, but it soft and i got them baby hairs on deck! lol to do it, i deep condition my hair 1-2x a week. And although for some people that may sound like a lot, I listen to my hair and if it needs a pick me up, i am happy to oblige!
Three products and boxbraids: fermodyl 619 for coarse/curly hair, curl junkie honey butta leave in, and sunflower oil on top. I can never stop touching my hair!
Just yesterday, I used a product called Hair Rules Kinky Curling Cream. I used in the shower like the instructions said. Didn't get the superb curl definition like the product promised but my hair was super soft and it's still soft this morning and I had to do very little fluffing. No other product has EVER made my hair this soft!
I'm with Anon 3:35…Coconut oil. I have 4a/b hair like yours and have found no substitute for coconut oil.My hair is sooo soft and not greasy. I make mine so its raw. I apply on wet, damp or dry hair and get the same results. The weird thing about Coconut oil is that when styling, my hair dries faster, feels softer and stays moisturized till my next wash.
Q's curls are the softest after we pre-poo, wash, condition, and leave a tad in (I like Original Sprout's leave in condish right now) – then let air dry <3 soooo soft!
Right now we're getting much softer results with leave in condish rather than sealing with an oil. I do like out aloe vera gel/juice stuff with a shea butter mix seal afterwards – but it's not quite the same as a leave in condish.

Every time I wash I deep condition or pre-poo with extra virgin olive oil. As far as shampoo and condish, I just joico (silk), bed head brunette goddess, matrix hydratherapy or paul mitchell tea tree shampoo with the Matrix conditioning balm.
I agree with a lot of the other girls – Vatika oil is wonderful! I notice when I do my co-wash with aussie moist at night, then massage vatika oil on my scalp and length (over any creamy leave in), cover with a satin scarf, my hair in the morning is smooth as silk.
conditioner!!!
after washing or on old hair…
old hair,i let the steam from the shower work it's magic, then i apply my fav conditioner n any natural oil to it n am done,my hair feels soooo soft i dnt apply anything if i dnt want to for a week.
I do a chunky twist and curl on an old twist out with a mixture of Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition conditioner water and oil. I use a dab of Uncle Funky's Daughter Extra Butter on each strand as I re-twist. I get fat soft bouncy hair when I take the twists down
3rd @Bitty Boss and Wendy w/tea rinses. I use Organic Blue Malva Herb (which is IMPOSSIBLE to find outside of Anita Grant *sigh*) and avocado oil. Also water/glycerin and avocado oil and I'm just stunned at how SOFT and lush and perfect my hair looks and feels afterwards. I'll generally lightly pre-oil before moisture but get the same results by doing it only after as well. I dislike heavy butters but can't deny that unrefined shea and twisting/coiling afterwards gives me unreal cloudy softness as well.
Hi there Bitty Boss! I read that you do tea rinses. I do them as well and found that they have helped tremendously with alopecia and hair fall. I use Rooibos and Earl Grey tea. Sometimes ginger tea as well. Anywho, I've never heard of those teas before and looked them up. Amla and Brahmi. I was just wondering where do you buy your teas? I would love to try those out. Thanks! 🙂
Co-Wash with HEHH and detangle with Tresemme Naturals conditioner. I leave the Tresemme conditioner in and I add extra virgin olive oil and honey. I deep treat overnight and my hair feels soooo good 🙂
Then, I spray my hair with my water and aloe vera juice mix, then I seal with my whipped shea butter mix. Soft and supple hair 🙂
I use a moderated version of kimmaytubes leave in co using sheas moisture enhancing […], acv, and evoo and it leaves of my softer than ever before..I loves it! Eventually I'm going to try to use the exact mixture of leave in co kimmaytube uses.
I wear my natural hair straight and my hair is usually at its most soft after I deep condition(a mix of Tigi MM, olive oil, ORS hair mayo) for 2 hours, wash it out apply a heat protectant, then braid it up over night. After I remove the braids the next morning my hair is always super soft. It makes straightening my hair very soft and I avoid using a blow dryer.
Easy peasy for my 4a,b, and c hair types. All I do when my hair is dry, is use my WATER spray bottle to mist my hair and right after I use my coconut oil and shea butter mixture and rub it all over. Prepare for soft hair all day, Voila! Good Luck;)
Well, I achieved my softest styled hair today… Here's how:
First, I cowashed with Kiss My Face "Whenever" Conditioner (first ingredient: Aloe Juice… SCORE), then I followed that by conditioning with Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Conditioning Creme (This condish is AMAZING) for about 15 minutes. After rinsing, I used some of the Garnier as a leave in, sprayed the dryest parts of my hair with a little Scurl moisturizer mixed with olive oil.
I styled w/ a little ecostyler olive oil gel to define and after that sets, I always smooth and pull at my curls to get rid of any the firm hold, but the Garnier really protected my hair from getting any of the dreaded crunchies. Now I have a very soft yet still defined and curly twa 🙂
My hair is always soft because the only product I use is conditioner. Everyday I wet my hair a little and apply conditioner. My friends are shocked with how soft my hair is.
I recently started using Kinky Curly products and that keeps my hair soft also. It makes my curls pop even more and I love it!
After co-washing with Suave Humectant, conditioning with Aussie Moist & a little coconut oil; I just added Oyin's Hair Dew and a bit of coconut oil & my hair was super soft for DAYS!!
Deep conditioning always leaves my hair soft. I OVER conditioned with Afroveda Sitrinillah the other week & although I looked like a frenchified poodle (tight tight tight curls) my hair was soft for several days. Curls Ecstasy tea DC is great for soft hair too.
Coconut oil seems to be the key for me! So I'm sticking to that. Whether EVCO or the Dabur Vatika (I use to pree-poo or to treat my hair overnight. I need to find the right amount to use for daytime so that it's not greasy). Nutiva coconut oil is the BOMB! It has completely transformed my skin & is helping my dry hair immensely
After using Terressentials hair wash I apply my homemade cocoa butter creme and use the hair steamer, rinse, then style with flax seed gel; it creates a soft wash-n-go every time.
To get soft hair between washes, I use a little Qhemet Biologics Amla & Olive Heavy Cream and let the shower steam hit my hair. My hair comes out feeling like a cloud!
After washing and deep conditioning, I moisturize with Oyin Hair Dew and let my hair air dry. Then I add castor oil to my scalp & roots only and twist with Oyin Whipped Pudding. My hair remains soft until I wash it again! Hope this helps.
I've been pre-pooing with Amla lately and my hair has been immensely soft. I then put HH LTR over it, shampoo my scalp with Organix Shea mixed with Hempseed and Jojoba oils, rinse, spritz with AVJ, apply kimmaytube leave in, then my shea blend and seal with jojoba. Okay, that sounded like a lot but it's really not. I just did it last night and let it air dry in two braids and my puff is looking fab today!
Every time I wash my hair I put, olive oil creme, 100% pressed coconut oil, and avacado oil in my hair. My hair is so healthy, and shiny because of these things. My hair has never been as shiny with anything else. The other thing is my twists are not getting all tangled up and I attribute it to what I'm using now.
I spritz my hair at night with my mixture of aloe vera juice, tea tree oil, glycerin and water. i twist my hair then seal the ends with either coconut oil, almond oil, or evoo. S-O-F-T!!!!
Every night before bed I spritz my hair with water, just until slightly damp. Then I massage a small amount of avocado oil throughout my hair, and cover with a satin bonnet. My hair loves it, and it's soft and moisturized in the morning.
Wash and go, wash and go, wash and go. I have 4b hair and suprisingly daily washes have done wonders for my hair. I add HydroVeil leave in shea treatment which I swear by and add whatever oil I have on hand to seal and it works everytime.
I agree with everyone else….right after a good deep conditioning treatment. On a daily basis, I use a mixture of water, glycerin, and infusium 23 leave-in to make it soft and moisturized. It does the job!
On an old (even just a day) hairstyle (usually twists or twist-out with Kimmaytube leave in) — oil my scalp lightly with EVCO and run Vatika Oil (or EVCO) on the length of my hair overnight, cover with satin bonnet or scarf.
In the morning I have THE SOFTEST hair ever!
My hair was its softest when I tea rinsed with a mix of amla and brahmi. After the rinse, I co-washed with Organix acai berry avocado conditioner. This is a moisturizing combo I use once a week for soft and fragrant hair.

EVOO!
I leave it in for about 15-45 minutes, depending on how bored i am, then I rinse it out, maybe with some SUPER diluted AVC
