CN: How long have you been natural?
D: I have been natural for 1 year 4 months and growing.
CN: Were you a long-term or short-term transitioner, and why?
D: I was a long-termer. I transitioned for 10 months. I’ve never had short hair. So, I was scared of the “BC.”
CN: What is your current regimen?
D: I wash with shampoo every Saturday. I detangle in the shower. I co-wash every Wednesday or more depending on the style I want for the week.
CN: How do you maintain Length? Moisture?
D: I use castor oil. I alternate using tea tree and jojoba oils. I also use shea butter on my ends. I try not to touch and play with my hair too much. I’ve found this helps a lot because then I don’t have as much breakage.
CN: Night time routine?
D: If I Bantu, I sleep with a satin cap. If I wash-and-go, I sleep on just my satin pillow. If I want a twist-out, I sleep with a bonnet.
CN: What’s the best thing about being natural?
D: The best thing is the attention I receive. I’m so serious. People stop me, and ask me about my hair. Who doesn’t like compliments?! I like the freedom because if I mess up a twist-out or braid-out, I can always do my wash-and-go.
CN: Anything else you want to add?
D: I love your website and wish you the best. I have a twin, and we are both natural. We both frequent your site.
