I’m in twists much of the time to protect my curls from myself and from Baby G. We all know that protective styles can actually impede progress if you’re not careful. Yesterday, I shared how I keep my chunky twists moisturized, shiny, and neat. Now it’s your turn!
When you’re rocking a protective style, how do you keep your tresses healthy and happy?
Daily nightly oyin hair dew then tie down with scarf. Fluff in a.m. And go.
I find that when I wear single twist styles I need to moisturize my hair. However when I wear flat twist or cornroll styles I don't need to moisturize(as long as I moisturize before) because the ends of my hair are not exposed. When I wear twists this is what I do:
1. Lock in moisturize before I start twisting
2. spirts my hair every morning with a mostly water mix and wake my twists up by moving them.
2. moisturize again in the morning (so hair is dry at night) every four days.
i make my own spritz with water, glycerine, oils and spritz that on morning and night for my twist. i don't rub my hair with moisturizer because i don't want frizz. i want my twist to remain neat for as long as possible, so for my 4b hair i opt for spritz only…
At minimum, I moisturize twist ends daily with a homemade spritz (aloe, water and small amount of favorite oil). Then a apply a small amount of butter or oil to ends and massage in.
This is right on time. Just did my mini twists last night. Hopefully they last at least a month. I bought nexxus moiturizing spritz seems to work ok but I notice as soon as I start to use it, I start using at about week 3, my hair starts looking too frizzy. I may do my own spritz maybe some shea and coconut oil.
I like to spritz my hair with a little water and coconut oil. I used to use daily conditioners, but I had too much of a problem with build up.
i've been in yarn braids for the past month and a few nights a week i'll spray the length down with my water/rosemary oil mixture and treat myself to a scalp massage with vatika oil.
I've been keeping my hair in flat twist. I usually alternate. I do one week with it in, in which I spritz Shea moisture's hold and shine mist in the morning and at night. after a week i take them down, wash deep condition and leave my hair out for a week, in which i do co washes and moisturize, then flat twist it again another week.
I wear 2 strand twists a lot…I moisturize and seal with initial twisting…at night I cornrow the twists and tie down with a doo-rag. This helps retain moisture and keep the twists fresh.
Every few days I spritz with water and natural oils. This regimen allows me to keep the twists for 10-14 days.
I normally spritz with a mixture of water, jojoba oil, and rosemary essential oil. I tie them down at night.
