I’m 3 years into my natural hair journey and I’m loving it. My hair is flourishing and I get compliments and questions quite often. Many of the questions come from new naturals, and I find myself racking my brain to quickly offer the best advice on tools, products, and styling. The world of natural hair is so vast, and can be quite overwhelming. Wouldn’t it be cool if we could make natural hair care packages to send out to the newbies??!! I wish someone would’ve made me one.
What tools and products would you include in a Natural Hair Starter Kit?
Ambitious_Tiff over in the forums have started making these and selling them! You all should check her out!
A wide tooth comb, heating cap, Shea Butter, Olive Oil, apple cider vinegar, aloe vera juice, and one styling product for those bad hair days when I need to put my hair up.
I mirror anon 10:21 and include bobby pins, a good deep conditioner, and some cute earrings.
MelMelBee I dont see what she's selling ??
a wide tooth comb, a nice shampoo, great detangler conditioner, a deep treatment, and a styler
I had to buy Liquid Plumber during my transition… I always wash my hair in the shower and the breakage eventually clogged my drain! buster.

I made starter kits 2 yrs ago and gave them to friends for Xmas gifts. I included a detangling comb, some product samples, and a sample of the shea butter mix I like to use on my hair and skin. I actually got requests for more of the shea butter mix.
hair catcher, sulfate free shampoo, detangling/deep conditioner, leave-in moisturizer, oil (preferably jojoba or olive oil), wide tooth comb, plastic cap, spray bottle, clips, satin bonnet, and a scarf for when your hair just doesn't turn out right (trust me this happens a lot in the beginning but you'll get the hang of it eventually)
Wow, I was just thinking that same thought not to long ago.
MY gift kit would include:
Glossary our natural hair terms/jargon & harmful chemical in HBA
Kitchen Staple Ingredients for mixing your own hair recipes
How to wash & detangle your hair
How to understand what hair type you have
Links to all the great blogs, vloggers, and Youtube pgs
A Link to the Shea Butter Institute as all butter ain't shea
Sample starter pack of chemical free conditioner, shampoo, oil mix, and a DIY Youtube video that matches their hair length
what everybody said and words of encouragement. YOU CAN DO IT!:D
The only thing I would add to what has been already said is a quality pair of hair scissors.
Jilbere shower comb, 1 D3 Denman brush, a pack of hair clips, shampoo, co wash, heavy condition, DT conditioner, Vatika Coconut Oil
That's the starter kit. They can buy more as the néed/discover products.
