My hair is my friend right now in a wash n go state because I just started back jogging this weekend and don't feel like twisting. I have 4abcdefg hair….yeah depends on what product is in it. I'm in florida so right now its adjusting to the change in season

  • cutencurlie says:

my curls and I are playing very nicely today. I had the most boss second day hair I have ever had on my journey!!!! πŸ™‚

  • Stella says:

My hair and I are great at the moment. This morning I got kinky twists braided in. My hair is 4b with a 3b toward the name of my neck.

  • miznissi says:

My hair is doing it's own thing right now, but we're still on good terms, lol. I can't be mad at it. As of late, it's been frizzy and I haven't been moisturizing as much as I need to. Shame on me. I've been really busy, but that busy schedule is letting up as of tomorrow. I can't tell you a thing about a hair type, but my hair texture is similar to yours, Nikki. Maybe a tad thicker.

  • Day says:

My hair and I are getting along today (I used Kinky Curling Custard for the first time)! Unlike the weeks prior, my hair, me, and the humidity were having an interesting relationship.

  • Tyler says:

Me and my hair are getting along quite well today! I have 3b/c hair and it feels soft, smooth and shiny today πŸ™‚

  • Ebony says:

My hair and I are doing quite well. I am currently wearing two strand twists. I washed and conditioned with Lavendar shampoo and conditioner. I then detangled with my Tangle
Teaser. I then sectioned and applied Jojoba oil, Kinky Curly's Knot Today and Ecostyle gel. I then two strand twisted. This has been my best two strand twist ever. It is shiny and and most of all the shrinkage was minimal. I spritzed with water and a mixture of coconut, jojoba, sweet almond and possibly olive oil (not sure about the olive oil). I then put my satin bonnet on with a stcking cap over it to prevent sliding and friction and so far so good. This is day 3 and they still look good. I love my hair and it loves me back. We are having a good day.

  • yayamama03 says:

I want to try the curls line without breaking my back 2 school budget so … let me win!!!

  • Kristen K. says:

This messy frizzy bun that I call my hair is full on at war with me today! It was extremely hot and humid last night and me being the ridiculously smart person I am forgot to twist up and sleep with a scarf last night πŸ™

  • Daphnee Renae says:

Hey nikki! I big chopped on saturday and miserably failed a wash n go yesterday πŸ™ so today i'm up early experimenting again with a roller set. My hair is about mid neck length and it's a little shocking because i was 3 inches from waist length before chopping! Sigh. I'm a little discouraged but i'll get the hang of it! (hopefully..)

  • Anonymous says:

My hair and I are getting along pretty well today! I have a mix of 3c texture all around the perimeter of my hair and 4a hair in the center of my head. Now that I've figured out that my hair keeps screaming for moisture and is most happy when she gets it we are getting along alot better and she's soft, healthy, and able to be maintained. Now what I struggle with is styling options…awww…work in progress πŸ™‚

  • Anonymous says:

Well today my hair is very dry(esp.on the ends) I washed my hair last night and used a different shampoo than I usually use, and it stripped my hair horribly! I will be washing my hair tomorrow and doing my usual twist out! My hair texture is a little bit of 4a/4b πŸ™‚

  • jhilene says:

My hair is a 4b/c hair texture and i feel very pleased about my hair style today. Natural hair Rocks!

  • Chantel says:

Me and curls are getting along. I just purchased some avocado oil this past weekend. Anxious I hurried home and gave my fro a much needed wash and condition. This heat wave has had me sweating! I had some VO5 conditioner in my natural hair cabinet so i decided to mix honey, olive oil, and avocado oil in there. It left my hair very soft I didn't want to do my roller set. It was so soft. I did the set anyways but next time I'm gonna just rock the fro πŸ˜‰

  • LolasCurls says:

My hair feels a bit dry this evening but it is cute!In medium-sized twists in a bun at the back and a hump in front!

  • Kalia R. says:

As of today (and many days) my hair is feuding with me. I am currently transitioning and a few of my strands at the top will not lay down for anything!! GRRRRR!! My hair also tangles easily so I have given up combing and just pulled it back in a ponytail and put on 1 of my grandma's scarves. I tell ya sometimes I wanna go bald, but I've had long hair all my life and wouldn't know what to do without it.

My hair is my bff today. I have found IT. My personal hair holy grail. The perfect moisiturizing combination for my mostly unruly mass of hair. My hair is a mixture of 4a, 4b, and 4c curls. Because of this mix, old girl is difficult to deal with. And after almost 5 years and just past shoulder length hair, I had gotten frustrated with the whole thing. But a quick jaunt into "Whole Check" (as you put it) introduced me to some new oils and a new product routine has ensured that me and my hair have reconciled and will remain bff! πŸ˜€

  • TTsGurlBB says:

Me and my hair are on really good terms today. Since I am currently rocking the best 4 day old twistout I've achieved ever, she has been really feeling herself…and I'm feeling her too!!

  • Shaunette Stokes says:

Me and my hair are at odds!! I am currently wearing a sew in and the natural part is trying to curl up while this silky weave is just sitting there…they are battling it out…Frustration is not even a word for how i feel about my hair right now!

  • Natasha says:

Nike and I have been enjoying each other's company today; she's twisted up with a pompadour in the front while the rest of them hang. We're looking forward to our weekly date, aka wash/deep condition/styling session. <3

  • ohsoadarable says:

I was at the beach today in Montpellier, an incredible city in the south of France. I felt great while I was there, my hair was up in a puff and I think it lightened up a bit in the sun. But it did feel VERY dry afterwards. Not to mention that its no fun to have sand in your fro!

  • Toy says:

Ever since I found about natural aloe and shea butter, my hair is loving me. Even though I am in CT and we are experiencing 110+ weather my hair and I are in sync and in love with one another.

  • Chan says:

Right now we are playing nice. I have just enough hair to twist now. Not so sure about my texture.

  • Kaffren says:

I'm definitely a thick 4a. The shrinkage is out of this world.

  • Anonymous says:

My hair and I are the best of friends right now! I did my third big chop last week and we couldn't be happier. This heat wave ain't got nothing on us, and the pool can't kill our shine. My 4c coils can't get enough of water and this humidity.

  • Hali S says:

Today, my hair and I are not getting along. I've been staying at a friends apartment and I believe the HARD water has taken a toll of my precious hair. I have change products, changed what I did, but my hair always ends up dry and frizzy. So, she's currently in time out, in a bun and will remain this way until I leave here. No point in making her suffer anymore

  • Mz. Coffee says:

Prior to perfecting the dry twist out, my 4A tresses were super coily and unruly; however, as of late, she ( my hair) has been bouncin' and behavin'!

  • momoftwinzz09 says:

My hair and I are definitely feuding today. The humidity in the Ohio Valley is Ridonkulous! Anywho…I did a half-arsed co-wash soI could try out these Bee Mine products I bought for my daughter. Used the Milk and cream moisturizer, sealed with EVCO, fluffed and threw on a headband. My hair felt nice and soft. I was heading out to see a client but my tank was near E, so I rode with the windows down, sweating like a sheep in heat. I ignored the sweat dripping down my back and forehead and blasted my Beyonce "4." By the time I got home (less than an hour later) the heat and humidity had sucked the life out of my hair like Eric from True Blood sucked the life out of that fairy (lets hear it for the True Blood fans, woot woot!). With all this being said I now have a reason to test out the Bee Mine Juicy spray πŸ™‚
Oh yeah my hair is fine and thin, and more kinky-coily than kinky-curly.

My hair right now has a mind of her own..I'm currently transitioning my hair and learning how to deal with two textures. So we are currently in a love/hate relationship soon to be divorced when I finally cut off all of my relaxed ends

I love my hair! I reccently cut off all the heat damage after a 16 month transition and I'm really enjoying seeing my curls. I've been rocking a twist out for the 3 days and today it's in afro puffs.

I would say we have called a truce for now. I'm newly natural (BC'd 4/2/11)and haven't had a relaxer since 12/24/10. I'm currently rocking a curly 'fro. My hair is very thick with multiple textures–4a/4b and some straight strands thrown in there too. This morning I spritzed it with water & ran some olive oil through it and called it a day…

  • Chen says:

I feel like I'm constantly at war with my hair. I've been transitioning since March and it's like the further along I get the more frustrating it becomes. I have set a date to BC (dec 31) right in time for the new year. I'm using olive oil,eco stypler, and cantu leave in conditioner. In the beginning my hair loved them, now I think its rejecting them. It's gonna be another long 5 months of transitioning.

  • Rachel Anne says:

I have yet to take out my hair today so I'm not sure.
It is currently flat twisted and secured with bobby pins so I can rock a twist out when I go out today. but this weather is so humid I'm not even sure if I want to take it out.

  • Annierocket says:

Finally loving my hair today…I hennaed recently and my hair has been quite dry but some TLC did the trick and its back to it's old self!

  • Zipporah says:

My 3c hair and I are re-building our relationship today. We had a falling out yesterday as some unsightly flakes ruined a perfectly purdy braid out, so today I decided to cut my losses and just go with a co-wash n' go and it is fierce. My coils are soft, bouncing, and behaving! My hair knows me well enough to know when I am not happy with her, so she does whatever she can to fix it and the sentiment is mutual. True love… πŸ™‚

  • mangomadness says:

I'm loving my hair right now. It's wasn't too hard to detangle yeterday despite washing my collarbone length tigthly coiled hair loose (lon, but fun, story). I didn't lose much hair thanks to patence and a super detangling mix(lots of conditioner, oil and honey).

My hair is currently in braids for a braidout. I'll be rocking a bun for a week or two to give my hair a post-"shrunken hair detangling session" break (and to keep cool in this heat).

  • Anonymous says:

I'm loving my hair today! She's a coily, kinky, soft, fine hot mess at times and yes we do go to battle sometimes, but I wouldn't trade her in for the world. I'm wearing a new style today, flat twists in the front and loose in the back. I styled iwth kinky Kurly.

  • Shawnda says:

My hair and I actually are getting on quite well. I had been exercising pretty hard for the past week and hadn't really sat down to condition it properly until yesterday with shea moisture product sample(it was the first time I'd used them all together) and oh boy let me tell you I haven't had my fro be so soft and moisturized before with spend about an hour in conditioner and a shower cap. This truly was my first wash n go with healthy feeling hair. I had a resurgence of HIH.

  • ladySmith says:

I have 4a hair and today I'm in luv ….but who knows what tomorrow holds lol

  • Crystal73 says:

I have a VERY tight coil, I'd say its a 4b most definitely. I like to say its straight from Africa. Anywho, because its so difficult to manage I'm all about long term hairstyles. At the moment I'm rockin 2 strand twists that last about a month, and they're a little dry at the moment but easy to manage. wake up, shake 'em out of my bonnet, put some oil on those suckers and good to go πŸ™‚

    Hey Nikki
my hair is feuding. my hair loves rainy muggy weather. not the intense dry heat the we've been having on the east coast. my hair just isn't adapting. i need something to soften. help! lol i love the curls conditioner it smells yummy ^_^ would love to try the rest of the line. my hair is medium/thick

  • NaturalSinceBirth says:

I wish I could whoop my hair to get it to act right…

Is there any way you could put it in time out? πŸ™‚

  • Gabby says:

me and my hair were feuding last week so I put it in kinky twists but now I miss my hair and I want to them down already..btw I don't like the hair coding system and I considered my hair to be coily but if you go by that, its around 4a

  • BrePat says:

I recently big chopped for the second time…and i would have to say that I love my natural hair now more than ever. This is the shortest my hair has EVER been. Its crazy because my entire family thinks im crazy for doing so, but i don't care…their just some HATERS!!

  • Carla says:

I've been doing a lot of protective styles lately so its in a bun right now. I guess my hair has been so/so lately due to dryness but protecting it has helped.

  • CurlyQLiciousC says:

My hair and I are good today!! I"m 3c/4a – and I washed and deep conditioned my hair – which I kept under wrap all day!! Tomorrow I will rinse and style!!

  • Malisia says:

It's been four months since my BC and my hair and I are best friends. :o) I am enjoying my journey immensely.

  • MixedCurly says:

To say that my hair and I are feuding right now, would be an understatement. To be more accurate, I would say that we are currently engaged in WWIII. My hair refuses to cooperate with anything that use to work when it was shorter and before I had a sew-in. I have informed my hair that it can be properly named when it learns how to properly behave during the co-wash/prep routine!

  • Solape says:

Me and my hair are not friends today, its not holding moisture that well and looking extra dry and brittle πŸ™

    I have 4a/4b/4c hair

  • Ktartt20 says:

We are definitely playing nice today. My curls withstood the humidity and even got some compliments at the mall today! Very good hair day!

  • srednov says:

My hair has decided to play nice today. After several attempts at doing a braid out that I enjoyed, today was a success even with all the humidity! The kicker is I wasn't even going to wear the braid out, my hair was simply braided to stretch my hair for mini twist.

  • Nique says:

I have very dense, coarse hair that's about a 3c/4a texture, bra strap length. I had been feuding with my hair but recently It's been behaving. Hopefully that continues πŸ™‚

  • Janel says:

We are definitely feuding at the moment. I have almost BSL 4a hair and I live in NYC. Today was a ridiculously hot/humid day and I really need to wash my hair. yuck

  • Anonymous says:

Well i am a young transitioner with 4a-4b hair texture. My hair right now is ok, it will be better with the relaxed ends cut off for the new year. At this point in my journey i have been doing bantu knot outs with s-curl and whipped shea butter which really leaves my hair heavy and greasy. I would like to try some thing that will keep my hair moist without the greasy feeling. πŸ™‚

  • B.Baul says:

I love learning more about my hair each and every day. I've been natural for three weeks and three days so today I am feeling the love from my hair.

  • Anonymous says:

Deanna H. I'm loving my hair today. I have been working on keeping my hair stretched to reduce fairy knots and tangles. So far so good. I'm a kinky, 7 month post-BC natural. my hair soaks up moisture so I condition, deep condition, oil massage, and moisturize my hair. I also have been using protective styling as a means to hold in moisture. I'm trying to achieve cotton soft hair and as of two weeks of this collective process it's working. πŸ™‚

  • Anonymous says:

Miss Thangs(my hair) and I are soooo feuding today! I would describe Miss Thang as a mixture of type 4 a, b and even c textured hair. The middle being the kinkiest-and driest-while the back has looser curls. However, my entire head of Miss Thangs seem to be going through a dry, brittle stage and my ends are breaking off at an alarming rate. Earlier this week, I braided the back into a french roll and I did the front in a way that I would have some fall around my face. Today I decided to unravel the ends to do a twist and curl while leaving the actual braids in, but Miss Thangs was being overly difficult. My hair became so frizzy, shrunken and dry that I decided to wear a beanie hat and do some baggying underneath. I am going to retwist the ends with some moisturizer and seal with shea butter before I go to sleep.

  • Unknown says:

My hair is feuding because i want to keep dyeing some what of a red. It not working and so im on the work to found a different way to color.plus it hate grapeseed oil as sealing in the moisture. Its like almond oil better and i order some. It the middle of next week before i need get some.

  • Anonymous says:

  • Rahma says:

I had a graduate school fair to go to today at the National Institutes of Health so I wasn't taking any chances with my hair in this hellish maryland heat so I wore it up and away from my face and it seemed to work. However, when I came back home washed and conditioned (I'm currently rocking a wash n go) it's kind of poofy but I like it!

  • Keshia says:

My hair is cooperating even with the crazy heat and the humidity. I know I need a trim but I am afraid to go considering the last time I went the lady took too much off.

My hair and I are neither best of friends nor enemies today, we're just kinda of ok. I have 4b plus some a and cs all over, decided to do a twist out last night and I liked it, but didn't love it. I am still in love with my hair though, when I went natural I decided I would stick with it through the good and the bad and through thick and thin.

    Peace and Curls,

ME AND THIS HAIR HAVE BEEN FIGHTING FOR AWHILE NOW BUT I THINK I FINALLY WON THE WAR, BECAUSE NOW THAT I HAVE STARTED DOING BRAID OUT MORE THEN I DO TWIST OUT I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS OUT OF HER LOL, TODAY I HAVE TWO HUMPS IN THE FRONT WITH FOUR TWIST ON EACH SIDE AND ROCKING A BRAID OUT IN THE BACK, WE ARE IN SYNC TODAY. TOMORROW IS A NEW DAY AND A NEW WAR πŸ™‚

My 3c/4ab hair is so feuding right now and have been for some time now. I just don't know what to do with it. Do I cut it short, get a weave, braids, or a relaxes? :(. I'm gonna hang in there. I've come so far haven't reach for a relaxed in almost 2 years. So I CAN and WILL do this.

Right now we're not speaking. I recently BC'd and I haven't fully learned that a little product goes a long way. So now MissThang is acting all hard and stuff, like she can't forgive a sista. That's okay though a good, co-wash and a DC, we'll be fast friends again.

    I have 4a/b hair.

  • baladi0822 says:

Today I'm liking how soft my hair is. I washed and deep conditioned last night and use giovanni direct as well as qhemet as my leave ins and flat twisted with tajid (?) stuff I got from walgreens!
The twists were throughly dry by the morning so I had to put it in a low bun! (I worked at a food bank today so I wanted hair out my face!)
All in all a good feeling hair day:)))

    Hi Curly Nikki!
I have highly porous, fine hair, some curls, some waves, many kinks πŸ™‚
Today I'm not feeling too hot. Had three wisdom teeth and a cyst removed yesterday. Normally Sundays are my wash/style days but I called myself "doing" my hair on Wednesday (so I wouldn't have to mess with it on Sunday)…this pretty much included me doing a full session henna and sleeping in my deep conditioner. Can you say bit off WAY more than I could chew. Long story short, I STILL have conditioner in my head as we speak lol and I don't plan on washing it out until Sunday :-/ So we're not feuding but I don't think she's too happy with me right now.

My 3c/4a type hair is behaving just fine for me today. I have a head full of 6 day old two strand twists put into an updo style, since, where I live it's been raining for days and I don't want my hair to poof or get matted. Although… my edges are looking kinda frizzy. So, I'll most likely be co-washing soon and retwisting again.. πŸ™‚

Me and my hair were in agreeance today, had mini twists this morning and a twistout this afternoon!!!

We are good for right now. Got a full 6 days out of a twist out (in high heat and humidity I must add) and today she is in a nice puff. However, tonight I plan on cowashing and using a new product. We might not be friends anymore come morning…..

  • Aitza Briauna says:

Bree. and I are gettting along at the moment. We were having a few tiffs but a blow out solved all that. Today was wash day and everything went smoothly. Shampoo, DT, detangle, condition, blowout all went wonderfully! Let's keep our fingers crossed that Bree. will continue to play nice.

Hola Ladies! Today my hair and I just kissed and made up this morning… Last nights mini-twist out failure turned out to be a super FLY updo today…My hair is 3c med thickness and frizzy =/. My hair is really funny when it comes down to twist the back and side can get with the program… But the top LADIES… looks limp and lazy.lol So I put the top in a flexi rod set. Pin the sides and back and VOILA! a Fly updo!

Today, we are beefing! Because it's over 100 degrees in the DMV and there is no a/c in my car, my so-so twist out turned into a lopsided mess on my ride TO work from my head sweating so bad. Eeek!

I have a head full of 6 day old two strand twists put into a nice updo style, since, where I live it's been raining for days and I prefer it to not get poofy, matted and frizzy because of the moisture in the hair. But it's getting kinda frizzy around the edges and I know that I will soon be co-washing and retwisting again. But until I do, I'll take the twists aloose (probably on Sunday), and wear a textured faux hawk for about two more days after that…

  • WendyE79 says:

My hair did right by me today! I had mini twists in this morning at work, then I took them down this afternoon for a twistout, so I had two hairstyles today!

  • karla4805 says:

Actually my hair and I are getting along well because I managed a successful twist out finally!! I have tried and tried but my fine, frizzy, dense 3c/4a hair does not like to hold a twist out without a lot of coercing. I revisited a product I use to use and forgot about and finally got good results, unfortunately the ingredients are not desireable. So the search will continue until I find the ultimate twist product with good ingredients.

Thats what I get for trying to look cute on a 100+ degree day. Consider me schooled.(sits down in corner and pouts…my hair wins again!)

Last week I threatened to end the relationship under the assumption that she hated me..
That's the reason for the amazing change.

  • Zipporah says:

My hair and I are re-building our relationship. We had a pretty bad falling out yesterday after some flakes appeared and ruined a perfectly wonderful braid out, so I decided to start over with a co-wash n' go and my curls are beautiful and bouncing and soft today. I'm pretty sure that my hair understands when I'm upset with her and makes sure she makes up for it pretty quickly and I do the same, true love πŸ™‚

Hi Nikki…My hair is 4a/4b mixed and I love my hair but it's not loving my back. Due to the 103 degree weather my twist out has the least amount of definition. Since my hair isn't agreeing with the heat I decided to make a low side puff accessorized with a beautiful peachy colored flower headband. My entire office was in love with my look even though I thought I was looking a HOT mess..literally..lol

Today I'm struggling with my 4a. I recently had my ends clipped and feel as though I lost half of my length due to what was described to me as "badly damaged hair lacking moisture." I've been using the shea moisture brand lately and I thought my tight coils were enjoying it, but we seem to remain in a constant battle. I just want to be in the I LOVE MY HAIR BECAUSE IT'S HEALTHY club. Especially so I can rock my style proudly as I start my new job next month;) *strikes a 1st generation college grad pose* lol!

I woke up quite anxious to take my twists down and wear my newly henna-ed hair out today. My tresses were still wet but also had a strange scent to them. I think it's due to not washing all the henna out mixed with the leave-in I used. The twist out looks great! I just can't handle this smell and will soon be experimenting with a wash n go on my 4a/b hair this evening. I normally rock twist outs 24/7 but since I have a few days off and a couple of weeks before college starts again, I'll keep experimenting with wash n gos πŸ™‚ My curls are happy, but smelly!

Today my hair and I started off cool but now we're a bit snippy with each other (you know, not full out fueding, but still not exactly chummy chummy, lol).

As hard as it is to believe, I am still in an experimental phase, after a whole 2 years natural (I transitioned for a year). So, this week, I experimented with Murray's Beeswax on my twist out. My hair was already moisturized, so I used it as a sealer/styler. It worked for a few days, but I tend to be heavy handed with my products, so I ended up using too much!! And too much product, coupled with sweating from this Virgin Islands summer heat is making my scalp itchy!! Today's lesson: Less is more!! πŸ™‚

Well this morning after I washed and DC'd it my hair and I were doing good. My coils and curls were pretty defined and moisturized. Until I walked out of the house and into the Utah weather… It dried up real quick under the sun lol. It still looks good, and I'm sure it's moisturized, it's just not soft like it was earlier :/ It's alright though, in a few weeks I'm getting crochet braids put in to protect it from the Utah sun and then the Vegas sun πŸ™‚

I think I would say that my hair texture is a mix of tight and loose coils, and random frizzy hair throughout all of it.

  • Godz Kidz: The Jackson Family Blog says:

My 4a coils are trying to stay in the battle. I used homemade too much flax gel on it when I'd already put a little Pantene R and N condish and coconut oil on it to set it Saturday night. The result is defined curls everywhere except the front. I wrapped it last night using Naptual85's minitwist wrapping method. This method is great but with all this product on my hair the front of my head is flat. So it's half up half down today.

Today my hair is playing…(drumroll)…NICE! I used the argan oil that was recently posted here on the site and my hair LOVES it! Frizz is no more, hair is supple and soft and I will know by the end of the day whether or not it really works against shrinkage. So far I am super happy with it and my hair and I are definitely doing the waltz today πŸ™‚

oh and I think my hair is 3c/4a hair texture.

We are playing nice today. Im rocking a two day old twist out thats pinned up on one side. I refreshed with my curls quencher this morning. My hair is soft and my curls are popping.

Right now, I'm feeling real good about my 4a/4b hair. Woke up this morning with twists that looked a hot,hot mess. Was about to wash when I got this idea to rock a twistout. A twistout turned into flat twists in front with a lil hump and twistout in back. I got one word to say from here, FIERCE!

It's so hot here in Tennessee that i'm mostly staying in with the kids until the sun goes down. My hair is all mad about the color I put in a few weeks ago but I've been doing some deep conditioning and trying to get back on her good side. I'm 4A hair type and it's been a blast getting to know my hair.

I am feuding with my hair today. I am transitioning (almost a year in). My hair texture is dry, thick, tightly curled (4abc) pattern. Today I pulled it up into a bun. I am BCing tomorrow so my hair and I should be getting along tomorrow!

  • JnB says:

Well last night I washed my hair. I planned to do the Tonidalay 3 flat twist style. I've flat twisted before, but not great. However, I figured since they were big it wouldn't be a problem. Not so much. I couldn't flat twist at all. But I'd already applied product, it was too dry to shingle, so I ended up just rolling something up because I didn't have time to really fix it as I had a test today. Doesn't look that great. Sigh…

  • tynee_bella says:

My hair is awesome today! Why? B/c it's currently in mini-twists! This is my first time with this style and I'm in love. πŸ™‚ I have an extremely fragile mixture of 3c/4a/4b hair and it can tough trying to wrestle with the different textures. With the twists, I can just get up, shake and go if I desire. So awesome!

  • Steel Magnolia says:

Having a pretty good day, making friends with my curls. Still learning but enjoying doing my own hair for the first time–ever! I'm on the second day of really nice twist out. The Kinky Curly products seem to be working nicely, but I got a little crazy with the products, so I was to try the Shea Moisture and Komaza stuff I have. Also planning to try a wash and go and a set with curlformers soon. So excited!

  • TiAnna Mae says:

I'm not really feeling my hair today. I wet it last night and I started to do a two strand twist style. My hair shrinks up terribly and the twists look so tiny compared to its actual length. I'm going to continue twisting it and wear a tam for until Sunday when I'll untwist for a twist out.

My hair and I are feuding today lol. I threw two flat twists in the front to make it presentable from a failed twist out. I am still trying to figure out my hair, and what products to use. My hair texture is a coarse mix of 4a and 4b, and I have thick strands with a defined curl pattern.

My hair and I are getting along today pretty good. I took down some chunky twists yesterday after wearing them for about 4 days. When I took them down I used some hair milk for moisture and my hair is pretty soft and big, which I love!

  • Randy with-a-Y says:

Well I just did the big chop 3 days ago at the wonderful Curltopia in ATL…I've been done this road one too many times, I hope I get it right this time, I've been natural since the late 90s but I was addicted to wearing my hair carefree out wild and about…I was then introduced to "KnotCity" so I every other year or so I big chop, when will I learn? I'm 4a/4b with 3c tendencies πŸ™‚

Today my hair is on and poppin, I washed w/Trader Joe's Moisture Shampoo, Condished w/Herbal Essence Hello Hydration, slapped some Coconut Oil and then lathered on some long aid curl activator gel and boom bam out the door –> Juicy Curls & Happy Face!

Sasha and I have been having relationship issues. What else is new. Sasha is fine (in every sense of the word :)) and there's not much of her (a rather thin gal she is). Today, Sasha insists on a fit of tangling and knotting. I try to soothe her with her former favorites, shea butter and castor oil, but to no avail. Sasha complains that I'm not keeping her moisturized enough against this harsh summer heat. I told her about this giveaway and her ears perked up. She claims this could be the end to our issues. I hope for the best. If not, it's off to Dr Phil…

  • B. Johnson says:

I love my hair today!I took a break from my curly fro and went back to my twist out. It is EXTREMELY humid here in the DMV so my hair was looking a little big. But I have been usid Aveda's anti-humectant pomade since monday night and my hair and i love it. I have a mix of 4a and 4b hair and the pomade is helping to keep the frizz at bay. So to answer your question Nikki, we are playing VERY nice!!

  • Nicole says:

My hair and I are trying to find a common ground today. I am love the back because the curls are defined, but the side is a whole different story.

  • MillieB says:

Today is wash day! Yay! And I've found my go-to style: The Flat Twist-out!

Im kind of transitioning. See, I've been natural for about 10 yrs…but i was an avid user of flat irons and pressing combs…and you can probably guess the rest.

Now my goal is to have healthy, HUGE hair. And im pretty excited at the 3c/4a (?) hair i see coming in. I love wash day and I love taking care of my hair. I need to name her πŸ˜€

  • JoiyaE says:

Today I am in love with my 3c,4a, 4b fine, thick head of hair. Considering I just got out of an "I want a relaxer!" slump, that's a miracle. This journey for me had been challenging. But, I love my hair more days than I dislike it. This biggest issue for me is that it doesn't seem to grow long enough fast enough. And, I'm not very talented when it comes to styling. I have great ideas, but I can never seem to pull them off. So, for now I'll just continue to be a wash-n-go curlie girlie.

Nikki, my hair and I have been beefin' today! It is not cute! After taking down my twists, I discovered plenty of growth and a nest of a disaster (to say the least) with clumps of curls and tangles. I will be pampering it with love later this afternoon using a special mix of EVOO and Shea Butter as I sit patiently and detangle to restore my beautiful halo.

  • Risse Nikole says:

My hair and I are having BEEF!! I have two different textures the back of my hair is 4a. The front of my hair I'm not for sure but it's less defined than the back of my hair. The BEEF I have with my hair today is…the day is not even over and my hair is so frizzy.By the end of the day I will have a frizzy afro(I did a braidout last nite) The BEEF my hair has with me is the constant dryness and breakage my hair is having. So I have decided once and for all to squash this BEEF!! Tomorrow I am going to attempt to do mini twist on my hair(protective styling). Maybe we can get along!! LOL

Well today my hair, which is currently in pencil diameter twists, are trying to reach some sort of compromise. It has been hot as hell these last few days and my hair is mad at me for being lazy with it. So I am suffering from a dry scalp that even my coconut oil is not helping. So I'm finally going to meet my hairs' demands and wash/co-wash. I believe that I am sweating WAY too much in my head. My hair type is mostly 3c and is past shoulder length. Its' still hard to find a good regimen when my hair is in small twists but I am working on it -Brittney E'Lise

  • Shake says:

My hair and I have been playing pretty well lately. I've really been listening to what she wants for summer. My routine always has to change at least slightly when the seasons and the air do. I've rediscovered a great wash and go and am too amped to revisit those! On my way to other styles I've found other things that I'd like to try some time. Like yesterday, on my way to a flat iron, cut, and trim session I discovered that braiding soaking wet dc'd hair in about 6 braids with only coconut oil and bit of whipped shea, will resemble a blowout once dried, separated, and bunned for a day. CAN'T WAIT TO TRY THIS STYLE. It's all the bigness, AND STRETCH, without the very massive feeling of twist outs. ie. my hair collapses to very small diameter if squeezed in my hand. plus it's BEAUTIFUL! I'll def be doing this sometime on one of those nice summer nights in the park. My hair is a mixture of fine all over, dense all over, shiny and dull, very curly and loosley curly, (plus a few spots that seem to have no real curl once dry lol) 3c-4a (maybe some 3b and 4b too? hate hair typing) happy, healthy curls. I've been ACHING to try the Curls line but am not allowed as i've promised myself (and my bf) no $ on anything new for a while.

My hair and I are in a very beautifully harmonious place this morning. I BC'd June 7, 11 and my hair is starting to come into it's own. I'm still working on my regimen and tweeking it daily. My wash and go provided great results today. It's in that wonderful place today where it's not too stiff or greasy and it's soft like a baby's tushee. I think I'm 3B/3C maybe..I'm still trying to figure that out too. I have plump corkscrew curls, so whatever that is… πŸ™‚ If somebody knows they can definitely let me know. Hey Nikki,
I have a complex relationship with my hair. During the week, when I'm too busy or too tired to do anything (including my hair), I give my hair the ULTIMATE silent treatment. I tie it up in a bun, wrap at night, and gel it daily until the weekend. Come Friday, we're back on speaking terms, when I pamper myself, love my hair, and show it off for all to see.

  • Andrea says:

My hair (4a/b) and I are at war right now. I need to give her some good old TLC this weekend.

  • Cherie says:

After a couple weeks of sporadic bickering, my hair and I are finally on pretty good terms. I pampered her all day yesterday, since it was wash day, and she loved me for it. We're in a good place right now, and I hope this lasts for a while. My hair is kinky curly for the most part, with a looser curl pattern in the "kitchen".

  • LoveZaporiah says:

My hair and I are not getting along. She's been drier than a desert of late and nothing I do seems to please her. However, since I respect her and realize that by being dry she must be trying to tell me something, I'm deep conditioning her for the first time in months at this very moment. Hopefully my mixture of 3c/4a/4b hair will love me again once I am done.

I am trying to come to peace with my hair. I have stress related hair loss in the back of my head, which has limited how I wear it. Its super hot and humid in CHI so my hair is a little frizzy but we are not fueding…. im playing nice… THE PJ IN ME WANTS THIS LOL! oh and my hair texture is a mixture of 4s, prone to tangling lol

  • Anonymous says:

My hair texture is kinky and tightly coiled in the front half of my head and loosely coiled in the back half of my head. I describe it as 4abc. It is very hard to retain moisture for me. Most of the time it has a very low sheen. It is fine, not thin not thick, but somewhere in between.

I live in Long Island, NY and work in NYC. Like most of the country we are experiencing a heatwave. It is extremely hot and humid here! So today and for the last few days my hair has been as dry as the NYC concrete! I moisturize at night before I put on my satin cap and in the morning before I leave the house AND AlWAYS seal with oil. Despite these efforts my hair has succumb to this harsh envoirnment and will not behave! I am not mad at it, though. I love it and am so glad I am not rocking that relaxed doobie I used to have in this heat!

My hair and I are still in the DATING stage.

I treated my Type 3a-c hair with fear, impatience and with a lack of understanding since I went natural in 2000. My hair is a relative stranger to me as my hair was hidden under micro-braids & Elgin Charles weaves for the past 10 years. I decided in February 2011 to commit to a long and healthy relationship with my hair.
I realized (thanks to my 4yr old daughter) that my hair will respond favorably and kindly when I treat it with TLC. I am ready to do so. I am nervous, yet excited because I am comfortable with "natural" myself now.

So after 5 months of being in a committed relationship, I can say that I am learning to accept my fine AND thin natural will never be like the you-tube videos. That's okay too.

I look forward to knowing my hair like I know my husband and 3 children.

  • hairscapades says:

Oooh!!! I've been wanting to try that!!! Seriously, I am SUCH a PJ!!

So, my hair and I are playing very nicely. I've had a Vatika oil pre-poo in since Monday and have been too lazy to get around to washing and styling it!!! There's been a 90+ degree heat wave in New Jeru all week and it's supposed to top 100 today, potentially breaking the days records all over the north east. But my hair has been VERY accomodating by going easily up into a big ol' banana clip bun within 5 minutes each day so that the hair and oil are not all over my neck, clothes and hands!! I throw a flower into it and am good to go with a cute little style!!! Easy, peasy lemon squeezy!!

My 4b/4c hair and I are getting along just lovely today. Other than the fact that I need a shape up on my neck, my 2-strand flat twist at the front and remainder in a fro style is looking cute. Oh where do I start… I have thick, coily 3c- 4a hair with the worst shrinkage ever. I washed and dc'ed Tuesday and couldn't decide on a style so I put my hair in 4 big twists, tied on a scarf and left it alone. Its actually still this way and will remain until it decides to cooperate. The only attention it gets is the mandatory nightly duties of getting moisture and sealed. We are taking time off from each other to see if this relationship is worth the work. Yes! I have been thinking about relaxers lately but does that make me a cheat? I think not. What's wrong with wanting to try new things… testing the waters never hurt… Right?

I am having a bad hair day -and I am currently wearing a weave (soo sad I know). I have not had a relaxer for 5 years, but worn a weave and not taken care of my hair underneath. Yesterday, per recommendations from this site, I ordered natural hair care products from Amazon.com (Direct Leave-In, Coconut Oil, Glycerin, Shea Butter) to truly embrace my God-given texture. Based off what I have seen in between weaves I think I am a combo 4a/b texture. I get off work in 1 hour and I am releasing my natural hair including taking out my weave and cutting off my tragic/heat damaged ends. I am beyond excited to truly begin my natural/healthy hair journey!!!!

As of late, my curls and I have been getting along very nicely. I've been taking a break from my habitual twist outs and have been wash & going with Jane Carter's Curl Defining Cream. You don't know how big this is–I've been twisting my hair every week without fail since last August! lol I haven't worn my un-styled curls until now! And ya know? I love them. I mean, I really love them. Like, standing in the mirror-being-vain-as-I-dunno-what-love them.

At any rate, everything's cool and copacetic!…aside from a newly developed and highly acute case of Hand-in-Hair Syndrome. Oh well.

This week we are playing nice but recently we'v been feuding. I moved across the country and tried some new hair products. There is now some breakage near my hair line and I've been trying to figure out what caused it. I'm thinking maybe protein overload. My new shampoo has wheat protein plus I tend to love coconut oil.

My hair is an interesting mix. I think it's 3c/4a in the front and 4b in the back. I'm actually mixed on how I feel about my hair. We're not feuding, it's actually behaving but it's probably the apprehension I have about wearing my hair natural that it caused the mixed feelings. I usually straighten it but this week i've been aunatural. I've been getting comments and looks about the bigness of my hair. But I actually like it natural.

  • Lenn G. says:

my hair is feeling me today, to bad the weather isnt. i have an amazing twist out that i dont want to keep in an updo, it should be free and wild. But this hot weather makes that not practical. i have multitextured hair with coarse and fine strands, that curl and kink. i think my texture is changing though in the back of my head, and ive done nothing different to it.

  • Anonymous says:

I have a mix of 4a/b hair and it is thick and coarse. We both find it ironic that we are getting along today mainly because I am not fussing with it and trying to make it do what it cannot do. It is in a braid and curl and pinned up in an updo to protect it from the heatwave here in Jersey! I would love to try the Curls line so I hope me and my hair are the winners!

  • Cupcake4 says:

Today I an hennaing my hair for the first time, so I am not sure how I feel about my hair today. I decided to do a henna treatment because of the benefits it has on hair and my hair could definitely use some strengthening and conditioning, especially because it has been so hot lately (101 degress in DC right now), and I could definitely benefit from an easier detangling session, lol.

  • Paula Lawrence says:

I love my bestie but she has not been playing nice latley. She is demanding that I stop feeding her that jello (hair gel lol)and give her what she has been begging for throughout her entire life… Curls souffle and Whipped Cream! At this moment she's resting under a satin scarf. I had to make this short but I believe she is a spunky, curly, medium density, and sometimes frizzy 4a. If she finds out that this info was released I was never here.

  • Anonymous says:

I suppose, this moisture lush, I call my hair and I are on good terms today, ha! She is definitely gratifying my need for straight hair this week as it was time for a trim a couple weeks ago and after much procrastination, I stretched with braids and flat ironed on low heat on Sunday. Oddly enough, she is still holding up! Now her skin/my scalp on the other hand is begging for wash so this will all be over by this coming Sunday. I am rocking a small hump and side bun! Feeling a lil sassy…: O

i am a 4c hair. my hair is fluffy, soft, little coils when wet. currently my hair and i are loving each other. since buying a satin cap my hair has been behaving. i even noticed some growth. i have also been mosturiziing it with coconut oil every few days so my hair is doing well.

Today my hair & I are "cool-de-la" lol. My hair has 2 different textures throughout: wavy-curly all around but a small part of my crown is easily dry, susceptible to frizziness, must use more effort for curl definition.

me and my hair are loving each other today. A two-strand flat twistout for the heat wave attacking us……

I am having a fabulous hair day today. I was beyond frustrated with my commute into the office this morning – it's hotter than hell in NYC and the tempers are flying. I came into the office fuming and my co-worker said "even if you're frustrated and mad, your hair looks great and still frizz free in this weather", and just like that my frown turned into a smile.

I am LOVING my hair today especially since its around 90 degrees here in Buffalo but I decided to put my hair into twists the night before because I know my hair is not happy about the heat and humidity. But my twists look great and are moisturized with Shea moisture curly enhancing smoothie and protected with castor oil for the ends. The last thing was to protect it from the UVA & UVB rays using Jane's Moisture lock spray (filters out these rays from sun. My hair is 4a and 4b texture.

Prissy (my 4a coils) does not like the summer heat and humidity. She has been dry, brittle, and frizzy like something crazy! I have finally found a solution to help with dryness. My hair LOVES oil and water. So every night I re-twist my hair by dampening with water in a spray bottle and next apply a leave in conditioner, twisting cream, and last oil to seal in moisture. My hair looks shiny, feels soft, manageable and hydrated. So we are best friends today : )

My hair, tightly coily/curly medium size afro, is behaving as well as can be expected. I am currently interning in a hard water city, unlike the soft water back home, and the water has my products acting all kinds of jacked up. My hair and I are agreeing today. I'm in an unusually hot and dry climate this month, so I've been extra careful with my high porosity, 4a/4b/4c hair. Just washed, finger combed, and bantu-knotted my hair to get it stretched and out of the way. Not sure what to do with it now, but it feels soft and is responding well to the extra TLC.

  • Lee H. says:

Me and my hair aren't really feuding or getting along…we both are just here. Lola and I are tired, the humidity isn't working for us. This morning I had to share that I'm loving my hair, being able to sweep it into a beautiful bun and having my EcoStyler gel play nice with the hair milk & curl smoothie (in this NY furnace) is the best thing to happen to my hair and all week I've been getting compliments πŸ™‚
These 2 products will be my staple from now on.

I have hair in the deep 4 range that does not define with gel.
