Am I the only one who likes their hair better when it’s dirty? Here is Nala in a chunky twistout (my fav) 14 days post wash!
For me, dirty hair = bigger, perfectly frizzed hair. Y’all know how I like it!
I only wash once or twice a month and I always have splendid hair days.
I know EXACTLY what you are talking about!!!lol I went almost 4weeks w/o washing my hair and it grew a lot and looked voluminous. I get sooo many more compliments when my hair is 3 weeks old…lol. I almost wonder, how far can I push it before the next wash, b/c my hair just looks so good…haha.
:Sigh: I love freshly washed and styled hair, however I seem to get compliments when its way past wash day. I've also retwisted old twistout hair and it came out like new, THEN got a new product and tried it on that same hair and it looked like new! I kinda felt bad that my scalp needed a serious scrubbing but nobody could tell.
Yes. My hair is awesome right before it's time to wash again. Just the other day, I was holding on to the curls of a wash and go from 6 days prior. Right before going out I lightly spritz it with water. Applied some Kinky Curly spiral spritz and voila! I had huge awesome hair.
*off topic side note* my hair was also awesome because my wash and go was mostly free of water so there was practically no shrinkage and my hair stayed "huge". LOVED IT! But I'm sure this is another thread all together! 🙂
I can never go more than 4 days without at least cowashing my hair. Unwashed hair = itchy scalp, course, dry hair. I work out most days of the week so washing is important.
Are you referring to washing as in completely wetting your hair wet and using either a shampoo OR conditioner once a month? and then doing dry styling/dampening the hair for styling throughout the month until the next wash (or co-wash)
Washing as in, ONLY using a shampoo once a month, but doing full co-washes in between?
I would assume that washing means ANY kind of washing (a full co-wash included).
If it wasn't for the smell I'd continue to rock my "dirty" hair. I was going to wash today but my curls were popping that I'll just wait one more day.
I love my hair the most on day 4, because it seems to act right on this day and it always tries convince me that I would get more than 5-7 days wear. However on that day number 5 my hair does a 360 on me and will feel super coarse and dry by the end of the day.
I can go about a week, but after that my scalp starts cursing at me, calling me all sorts of B-words.
People always say "dirty" hair, but not washing just gives natural oils a chance to come back after being washed away with soap. Those oils are produced by the scalp for the purpose of being on your hair. I don't really like it being called dirty because then people link it with poor hygiene! When I work out, I shower while the sweat is still wet if I can, and I wet/wash my hair with water and conditioner almost every time I get in the shower. I usually go three weeks without shampoo in the winter because it keeps my hair from getting too dry!
Have had some of my best hair days when it is dirty…on the same note I have tried to push it one day too long because of stellar look I had the day before
it's the opposite for me. if I go longer than a week without washing, my scalp starts itching like crazy and my hair turns into an oily matted mess lol
My hair starts to look better the farther away from wash day, but it feels too dirty if I wait longer than 7-10 days to wash it. Plus, my scalp would start to itch and my hair would start to smell if I didn't wash it often enough. The most I've gone is 2 weeks without washing, and that doesn't happen often.
I can't/will not go longer than a week with unwashed hair. Just the idea of it makes me feel icky! Lol. Although I do high intensity cardio 6x per wk and that adds into the dirt level, I would wash my hair at least once a week even if this wasn't an issue. Just seems hygienic and my hair performs better when it is clean.
I am fascinated with the varied range of care techniques that work for natural hair.
I couldn't go that long. My hair would smell so bad that I'd be ill.
For me it's the opposite, but we already know that all hair is different. The dirtier my hair gets, the more matted and bird-nest like it looks.
Dirty hair is a friend of mine.
