Today, my 5-year-old daughter called her afro pretty. This may not seem big, but I am currently transitioning because she would cry because she wanted "pretty straight hair" like my relaxed hair–not her "ugly big hair". Since I now want hair like hers, she brags and calls hair "curly and fierce" lol

My first job review as a teacher went perfect (so not only do I have a job I love for the first time in my life but I am actually good at it)!

    Woke up early every day.

Left for work on time every day. (A miracle in itself.)

Missed traffic 4 out of 5 days.

Got Starbizz this morning. (Salted Caramel Frapp)

    I passed my licensure test.

And this week I surpassed my goal of 70 hours of volunteer work for this month.

This week went from a Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad (complete with a menstrual related embarrassment I won't bother to detail) to a Wonderful, Fantastical, All Good, Very Great week!

I'm blessed to have a wonderful husband! This week he told me how much he appreciates me, and how I add value to our family. I have struggled over the years about being a stay at home mommy with a college degree (which I have yet to use). I truly am blessed to stay home, and I thank God for it. However, sometimes I wish I can see His plans for my future. In the meantime, I will rejoice and be gratful for my amazing husband and children!

I'm currently transitioning. I am at 8.5 months post and for 8.5 months I have been the ridiculed and/or interrogated about my decision to go natural by my family. Even though it hurt not having their support, I stood my ground each time. This week, I received a phone call that lit up my heart. After over 30 years of relaxing, my auntie has decided to go natural. When my little 14 year old sister heard, she proclaimed her journey too. I showed them your site & several of my favorite youtubers. I got some hair buddies/family in this thang now! Ooo yeahhh!

(I didn't see my post so re-posting) Nothing Major really happened, but I do have a funny story to share. This week my 5 year old brother watched a program with kids going off to college. He listened then started to ask me and my mom a bunch of questions about college. After that he left and went to his room. When my mom checked on him 5 minutes later, she found him crying. She thought he might have harmed himself. So we were asking him all sorts of questions, "did you fall? are you hurting?" (that type of stuff). Then he cries even louder and we couldn't calm him down. So I said, "Jaiden use your words, we don't know what's wrong". To which he cries, "I DON'T WANT TO GO TO COLLEGE." Me and my mom just stared at him and then at each other and started laughing. "why don't you want to go to college?" I asked. "I don't want to leave my family, don't you want me?" he asks. "Yes Jaiden we want you a lot; but you'll be older and bigger, you'll be 18, you will be able to take care of yourself, you will be happy to leave home by that age," I replied. This I found was the wrong thing to say because he started crying even more than before. He only calmed down when my mom told him he didn't have to stay at college, he could go to college and she would pick him up from college they way she picks him up from school now and she would pack his lunch. This made him very happy. My only regret was that I didn't get it on video.

Wow… so many great things happened this week! I'll just share a couple so as not to bore you. Lol 😉

In class last night I was sitting next to a girl who kept staring at me. She finally said she loved my hair (aww) and that I remind her of Alex from The Good Hair Blog. Lol Alex and I are friends so I called her to share. The girl in class was so nice and is currently transitioning.

Another great thing is that I'm REALLY enjoying life, meeting people, and have realized how blessed I am each and every day! 🙂 Whether outside circumstances are good or bad, I always feel GOOD inside and that is a beautiful thing.

Enjoy your Friday and have a great weekend, everyone!

My house got broken into 2 days ago and my laptop, wallet and purse were stolen. I came home after sleeping over at my aunty's house to find my valuables gone. I'm a writer in the beginning stages of a freelance career so losing my laptop was devastating. I called the police. After they left, I didn't cry or anything, I went inside looked in the mirror and said: I am unbreakable, I am the head and not the tail, this is a setup, not a setback, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me..then I cleaned my house, took a shower and kept it moving. This incident showed how much I've grown up over the past year. At 24 years old, I'm a women on a mission – to make my dream of being an author and full time writer a reality. Nobody and nothing can stop me – you can steal my laptop and my money, but you cannot steal my talent or my joy. Thank God for that!!!!

But instead, wa;l over to my 12 week olds crib and notice her admiring her feet with a really serious face (lol). Well when she finally notices me, she smiled and let out a big laugh as if someone had given her a million bucks. Her smiles still feel like the first time im seeing them everytime she does it. Im so totally in luv with my little riley! :))

My hubby manages a client who travels internationally. Well, he has a show in Manchester, England Saturday. On this past Monday clients dog eats his passport, hubby has to talk his ish ( he's know for it), and convince his celebrity, but-a-hermit/loner client to even go in public to the passport office where he gets them to give him his passport that same day on Wednesday. Today, Thursday we pick up preschooler cone whine for lunch, leaving out fir meeting, notice passport is misdoing. We all just saw it 30 mins ago. Miss meeting put out neighborhood, condo association, and preschool alerts thinking we're trip pin' he must of dropped. Retrace all his errands for the day. Goes to tell client bad news (as flight is for 8 a.m. Tomorrow). I'm so frustrated for him I start cleaning and organizing at 9:30p.m…..3 yr old has put passport in her "purse" and stiffed it in her arts & crafts drawer and it magically falls out onto newly waxed floor as poor hubby and client are across town going through!!!!!! Amazing, gotta watch those little people!!! So quick, so clever!!!whew, going to watch The Golden Girls!!! Lol

This week started out challenging but it is ending wonderfully. I started out this week unsure of how I was going to cover my necessary expenses but in just a couple of days I received two unusual miracles. First, I received a money order in the mail from a distant relative. Then, a sibling voluntarily paid a bill for me. I'm feeling blessed and truly grateful. <3

This week made my 7th week at my new job. Since I have been here, my supervisor has been mean and unconcerned about anyone but herself. One of the graduate students in the lab is trying to graduate this December so that she can move with her husband come January. Well, needless to say, my boss came in one day and told her that she wanted to push her dissertation date from Oct.28 to the middle of Nov. The graduate student is almost 8 mths preggers!!! So, I suggested she write a letter to the dean to state her problem–which of course I helped her write since she is from China and English is not her first language. I prayed over her letter and by the grace of GOD, she will be doing her dissertation tomorrow!! To put icing on the cake, she said she is considering joining the Christian race. To GOD be the glory! Just thanking him for the opportunity to bless someone else!

This week was my second week on my new job. I'm doing great but the supervisor and her assistant have been extremely mean to me from the first day i started. If I ask questions I get a a sarcastic loud response that is very embarassing ( its a small office ) Anyway, I have been praying to God asking him how I should handle things without losing my cool..Well, this week I got called into the VP's office along with the HR rep. Someone must have reported them because the VP said she wanted to have my seat moved and have me work with another manager giving me more responsibility. She mentioned that she does not feel I have been supported and wants to make sure the company does not fail me going forward. I couldn't believe my ears…. God is AWESOME! He took care of everything in a matter of days. I am thankful!!

  • Curlz of Luv says:

I fell in love with hair (tear drop). November 3rd I will be natural for 2 years. The entire time I have had moments of joy. But overall I wasn't lovin my hair. I did love the confidence that grew in me as I realized that I am not hair. Most importantly it was about me being a positive role model for my 2 girls (6 & 9). Anyway I am a product junkie and however no matter how good my hair looked in the morning by the end of the day it was dry and dull. However a week or so ago I saw a video on using Giovanni leave in and Royal crown hair grease. I figured why not I have done everything else. I grew up using hair grease like most of us. So I got the Giovanni but I couldn't find the royal crown so I bought some blue magic. Drum roll please… my hair looks and feels great. I am receiving so many compliments. A natural friend even questioned if I straightened my hair. On top of it all Nikki said she is trying grease again. So yeah I have had a good week and for the first time in awhile I have not contemplated getting some creamy crack..

A few months back I had a major setback and lost a ton of hair due to self-relaxing after getting highlights a month prior. I come from a family of long, thick-haired women so I was so upset about the setback. I searched and searched for a way to regrow my hair and found this site and a ton of other forums dedicated to healthy hair. Well, yesterday, I visited my hairdresser and they noticed the increased thickness and u can barely tell that I lost my hair! In fact, its almost APL and it hasn't been that long since childhood! The setback was a blessing in disguise because I learned so much about using great, safe alternatives to some of the chemicals that we typically use dye, pems, etc! So now I learned to better take care and appreciate the gifts that God gave me! I'm truly blessed.

The most wonderful thing? Today is my BIRTHDAY!!! I'm so thankful for being granted another year – to make mistakes, to get things right, to be with my family, to see my nephew grow up, to have a chance for a family of my own. Speaking of wonderful…my daddy still sends his baby girl birthday cards filled with love and a little something 'extra'.

As most of America, I am an unemployed and I am currently a broke graduate student looking for employment. I received an email about a job I interviewed for twice saying that I did not get my dream job ;( But TWO WEEKS LATER(This week) I received a call saying t I was not supposed to receive that email! Even though the position did not select a final candidate yet, I am still hopefully about employment and Hope is way better than nothing. 😉

I called to check in with my 2 year son, who's at the babysitter's, as I do everyday during my lunch break. And as usual he says, "Mommy I love you" before he hung up the phone….
That was the most major part of my day:)

I graduated in 2010 from Howard with a degree in journalism and since then I have been trying to find a job in my field. I have been able to get to the interview stage but never past that. This week however I learned that I made a strong enough impression that I was contacted by a newspaper to interview with them again! Praying that I get this job!

The major thing that happened to me this week is that I found out that I was selected for a program that would help pay part of my son's monthly daycare cost. My daughter is already in daycare, and my son starts next Tuesday. The additional funds that I don't have to spend will go towards Christmas presents and paying my bills =)

  • Tia says:

This week I was blessed to see my sister smile again. She is currently living with my husband and I. A lot of family and relationship issues constantly get her depressed on and off. She hit a very big wall and was in a big slump. To see her smile again this week, get up and go out, all the little things, makes me so happy. There is always hope.

I'm giving thanks for a number of things:

I made it through my root canal no pain.
My son had less seizures this week. This is actually the ONE thing I'm most grateful for. I can take root canal pain but seeing him seizing is unbearable.
