What am I thankful for? Well, as far back as I can remember, this time of year has invoked reflection upon our sources of gratitude and November of 2011 has proven no different.
“What am I thankful for?” Hmm…maybe I should rephrase that.
“Who am I thankful for?” Yeah, that’s better, more precise.
Actually, this fall season has found me not even looking much beyond my very own household. First on my list is our family dog, Noreaga. He is unfortunately stereotyped when I walk his pitbull-ness down the street, but unbeknownst to onlookers he is the most loyal sweetheart you could ever meet. Nore is definitely the baby of the house!
My “other” three kids, (should I add “Daddy” to this category?) that I lovingly attribute my sprouting grey curlies to, are inspirations to me as a mom. The resiliency of children’s’ spirits never cease to amaze me! I find myself learning and gleaning numerous life lessons from them daily – out of the mouths of babes, right?

Stacy is one of those people you encounter and become fast friends. She mentioned to me last week that, after almost two years, we have yet to really argue (knock on wood). Nothing is perfect, so it probably is looming somewhere in our future, but I do know that until then and even afterwards, my cousin-in-law will continue to be honest with me when most others just smile & nod, and that she will make me laugh hard, often times at myself!

Of course, there is a cornucopia of things to appreciate on a global scale, but I feel my family, human and beast alike, represent exquisite examples of the tangible and unconditional love that God has blessed me with.
So, enough about me!

Well, let me say thank you, Curly Nikki, for letting me share my story. Thank you also for the wealth of information you provide via your online presence! I have read each daily submission for these couple of weeks and it solidified my opinion that everyone has something they can be grateful for. Now, speaking of opinions… I think all people have the right to their beliefs and should be able to express them, but the level of assumptions, negativity, and ignorance expressed in some of the comments posted (most anonymously) presumably from my own Sisters has been disheartening. The important thing to me is knowing that my loved ones realize daily their significance in my life regardless of how it is written in cyberspace.
???? Your dog first, your beautiful kids second, and a barely mentioned husband? Wow I don't understand the order at all.
Thank you first posters for talking about what I am about to mention. I have two dogs who I love dearly but I would have mentioned my son first. What also stood out to me is that this dog that you say you love so much, you have him chained to a tree stump? She sounds just about as crazy as Autumn (the nut who said her husband wanted to leave her because of her natural hair.
Speaking as a dog parent and someone with no kids, I noticed that also and though it was hilarious. But not as funny as barely mentioning her husband!
But yeah, after a hard day I am thankful to go home and have two cute fluffballs running around all hapy that mommy is home. Now my damn evil cat is another story though.
AND STOP PROFILING PITS!
Wow! Not to jump on the bandwagon and focus on the dog, but I've raised pit bulls and they are not a problem. Their irresponsible owners are. So to anon@ 2:21 your ignorance is ridiculous.
Secondly, I'm sure the order in which she listed what she's thankful for does not reflect the degree to which she cares about them. Let's not be so simple and off topic. Sheesh!!
I just hope the dog doesn't act like Manuel Noriega. Lol! Just saying……
Anon 12:13 PM: DUH, It's a pit–it should be chained,caged and tranquilized!
@anonymous 10:29 – you crack me up with your "u like it…I love it" response to everything…lol..I just thought that maybe the dog saved her and her family's life at one time or another…or why else would you list a dog first…but that's just me, I couldn't appreciate her story once I saw that she listed everyone else AFTER the dog.
why is your dog on a chain? is it a dangerous breed? even so, doesn't the chain cause problems for the dog?
lol @ DONNA DORRANE…I swear I was thinking the same thing…Must be some special dog. But hey, to each his own. U like it…I love it
you mentioned being thankful for your dog first, before you mentioned your people *puzzled*
