So in my previous post, MsPooh, who has taking a liking to black beans as well, comments–
…Now, if you tell me that eating black beans (or any other kind of bean) will do wonders for my natural hair, you will have a convert for life!
Knowing that they must be, I did a quick Google search and looky what I found on WebMD—
Beans, beans, they’re good for your … hair?
Yes, it’s true. Legumes like kidney beans and lentils should be an important part of your hair-care diet. Not only do they provide plentiful protein to promote hair growth, but ample iron, zinc, and biotin. While rare, biotin deficiencies can result in brittle hair.
Blatner, who is also a spokeswoman for the American Dietetic Association, recommends three or more cups of lentils or beans each week.
They named salmon as the number one hair food… I eat salmon at least three times a week.

I'm a pescatarian…no beef, no pork, no poultry, but I eat fish, seafood, eggs, and dairy. I eat a lot of vegan meals and get protein from beans. I love black beans and lentils, but chickpeas (aka garbanzo beans) are my favorite. I use them in stews, curry dishes, vegetarian pot pie, and in salads. Of course, I also eat them in their pureed form–hummus.
I love beans. My mother cooks her own beans and we never buy them from the can (ugh). I eat lima beans, red beans (aka kidney beans), and black eyed peas. It's nice to eat something that I enjoy and get a nice bonus from it as well.
I hate the smell of Salmon. It makes me gag. But beans. I love beans.
Thank goodness! Finally foods that I actually like are good for me. I like beans (lentils especially), and I LOVE salmon. I would eat it every day, if I didn't think my husband would kill me for serving it every day.
Now if only they'd put ice cream and chocolate on that list…. LOL!
I think that making beans taste good will get more people to eat them more and not just out of the can with lots of sodium. Just a thought.
