5 Questions with Mary Mary's Erica CampbellErica and her sister, Tina

A CurlyNikki.com correspondent caught up with Erica Campbell, one half of the award winning duo Mary Mary, at the release of Mikki Taylor’s book, Commander in Chic. Check out what the gospel singing diva had to share about her hair and holiday plans!

CN.com: How are you rocking your hair today?
EC: This is a weave. But I do wear my own hair and it’s natural. I wear it straight, I roll it, or I just let it go. I switch it up because I enjoy diversity. I used to do hair. Before I became Mary Mary, hair was still a big thing for me. I love healthy hair…healthy, shiny hair. My hair is actually black so I don’t have to damage it with color. I can just play with a little hair and then take it off and be Erica. [Laughter] So this is Mary, Erica has black hair.

CN.com: Got any hair secrets?
EC: Moisture, moisture, moisture, nothing beats it. Take care of your ends. A lot of people take care of the scalp, which is good, but if you take care of the ends as the hair grows out, you keep more hair, because the ends of the hair get the most damage. They get the most heat from the utensils we use. So if you take care of the ends, then you keep the length and the shine longer.

CN.com: Which products are you loving?
EC: I’m loving Kim Kimbles‘ line! I like Miss Jessie’s too and I use that on my daughter and my son who has a small afro. I like old school stuff like Motions [Laughter], I keep it real. Soft Sheen Carson products… I still love those. A little old, a little new. You gotta mix it up.

CN.com: Any holiday plans?
EC: I will be having Christmas breakfast at my house with my entire family, so that’s about 70 people. We start cooking at 7am and yes, I actually cook breakfast! We enjoy the family, exchange gifts, laugh and have a good time. I love having my family over.

CN.com: What are you most grateful for?
EC: The love of God and the love of family.

Their hair looks great both in it's natural state and also with the wigs/weaves as well. They are such good singers and loved watching them on that show for gospel singers called sunday best or something :).

I love Mary Mary! I knew that Tina was natural (especially when they first hit the scenes…don't know if she is now) but I had no idea that Erica is natural too. I like how she kept it real :). I'm looking forward to their new reality show coming out.
