DIY Pore Minimizing Mask

by Briana of The Mane Source

Many woman have problems with large pores. Creams and masks to remedy this problem can be really pricey. Here’s a simple recipe for a DIY egg white mask that will instantly minimize your pores and improve the overall condition of your skin.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED: One egg and small container. That’s it!

STEP 1: Take your egg and separate the yolk from the egg whites. (Instead of discarding the yolk, you can use it to condition your hair later)

STEP 2: Pour egg whites into a small container and whisk with a fork until the whites become frothy.

STEP 3: Apply the egg white to your face. Be sure to apply evenly, avoiding mouth and eye area. Allow mask to dry.

STEP 4: Gently rinse face with warm water and pat dry. Follow with a light moisturizer.

In the end, your skin will feel amazing. Your pores will be minimized and your skin will glow! Here are a few more benefits of using an egg white mask:

  • tighter/firmer skin
  • helps to control oil… which is perfect for people with oily skin
  • smooths complexion
  • conditions skin
*Do not use if you have egg allergies. Discard leftovers after use.

This worked really nicely on my face, I have sensitive skin so it's extremely hard for me to find something that works for me. Thanks!

I was about to make an appointment for a facial, until I read your article. Good to know that true sisters are still helping one another. Thanks for sharing this information.

My mom, and my grandmother have done this for years. When I was younger, I use to give my mother the " what are you doing?" face but my mother has beautiful skin many years later. I do it time from time and my skin feels a little tighter— heyyyy! It's nice to see this article and know that mamma was right—-on this one at least (chuckles)

So use about every week or so? And do the powdered egg whites work as well? I do baking and that's what I have for custards, etc…. I may try and give results

I did this years ago as a high school student and it worked pretty well. When I washed it off, my skin felt so soft. Using egg whites for face masks have been around for a long time.

I use Burt's Bees rosewater and glycerin toner, and punee, I think you can tell if your pores are large because your skin will have a sort of finely bumpy texture. I'm no expert, but that's what I've found!

I've always heard great things about eggs being used for the hair but never heard it being good for the skin! Maybe I'm just afraid of that sticky film that'll get left behind. lol Who am I kidding, I'll still probably end up trying it. lol

But you can also put toilet tissues or paper towel strips and dip it into the egg whites. Then put this on your face and let it dry for about 10 to 15 minutes and wash off face with warm water. I like to use egg whites like this on my face about twice a week, for tightening the pores and keeping the shine down.
