Today was a great hair day. I wore my hair out for the first time in weeks and it’s amazing to see how big my hair is getting! I always say that “my hair grows upward to the heavens, for the greater good” and I absolutely love that. I decided to wear a twist out style but I was aiming for something a little funky. What’s more funky than a fro-hawk? Well, I’m sure there are some “funkier” things but in my case, since I rarely style my hair, I decided to take a risk. To my surprise, I was pleased with outcome! I attribute my satisfaction to the combination of Oyin’s Hair Dew x Curl Junkie’s Smoothing Lotion. The definition achieved was amazeballs and I went most of the day with frizz free curlies!
–Applied styling products and detangled each section before twisting.
The products I used today were Oyin Handmade’s Hair Dew and Curl Junkie’s Smoothing Lotion. Both can be found online at Curlmart.com or on their respective sites. I did not section my hair first, I simply just started randomly twisting medium sized sections.
-Twisted hair in about 15 medium sized twists
My strands were not wet but a little damp because I spritzed each twist section with water before styling. This T.O. was achieved on week old blow out, in other words, dirty hair was used for this look LOL. After twisting each twist I sealed the ends with Shea butter.
-Sat under the dryer for 15 minutes
The only reason why I did this step today was because my hair was still a tad bit wet when I was getting ready to leave for school. I didn’t want to take the twists out while damp because the frizziness would have been insane. So, you can skip this step if you want.
–Twist take down
I separated each twist carefully. After I untwisted I separated the untwisted twists into 4 sections versus 2. Once that was done I stretched my roots upward with a pick for extra volume. Then I simply pinned the sides to my liking with 4 Goody hair combs and a few bobby pins. To add a little flare I threw some random flower stems down the left side of the fro hawk. Hair accessories always give me that extra “umph!”
How did you wear your hair today?

My is professionally colored with Aveda's "Red Violet," the color is not from henna. To secure it in the back I used 2 medium sized hair combs. I plan to make a YT tutorial one of these days. 🙂
Can you make a tutorial for this style!? I always struggle to get my BSL hair to stay in a FroHawk. What is your method to pin your hair and make it stay?
love it x 2 [hair and color]

I absolutely LOVE the color of her hair! The style is super cute too =)
Gorgeous!!
I see that you are using combs and pins to keep it in place, how do you secure the hair in the back? Do you just let it hang?
So pretty! The flower is a nice touch. ~KF519
