YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!! thats what i said when i first saw this pic! She was working it! it's so sad that she was being called brave for rocking her natural hair when she should've been just being called sexy!

  • Nikki3C says:

    she looked absolutely stunning!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Anonymous says:

I like her natural hair, but I didn't mind some of the wigs either.

  • Fatima says:

Viola got ROBBED without a gun! They know good and well she deserved that Oscar. What a sham! But she looked amazing!

  • Anonymous says:

her hairstyle was just stunning. and the color, wow. all the colors, skin, hair and dress worked together magnificiently.

  • Anonymous says:

    Stunning!!!

  • Anonymous says:

all i can say is wow! wow! viola Davis was beautiful. that wig was covering her real natural beauty. you go girl. I am aiming for that look also.

  • Anonymous says:

she was workin this look. I like how the hair popped with the green.

  • Anonymous says:

She has a summer glow in February lol! I'm amazed how the non-kinky/curly/coil world responded so positively. We can be who we are and be seen as beautiful. I love it and appreciate her glow!

  • Kudos says:

I read this yesterday and was like, YES VI, YESS!!! The hair SO compliments her face!!

  • Sequitta J. says:

I thought she was BEAUTIFUL! But even more beautiful was that it was her husband who convinced her to rock this look! He told her "If you want to wear wigs for work, that's ok. But for life, wear your hair!" Two thumbs up to what sounds like a great hubby!

  • Felicia M. says:

I was waiting for someone to put out a section/comment on Viola Davis. She looked fantastic! And it was her husband that encouraged her to go without the wig! I loved that too! He already knows what the world (40 million + and worldwide views of the Oscars) now knows, that she is beautiful and that being black is beautiful and going natural is realllly beautiful! Like someone said, she looked like a "Bronze Goddess". Go on Viola, with your bad self!

  • Anonymous says:

Amazeballs…even the fashion critics on yahoo likes her hair and glad she let go of the wigs.

  • April says:

Dang it, you beat me to it! That's what I get for going to school 13 hours ahead of the states. Lol. I really wanted to see her go natural. I think that she's such an important figure for black women and Black Hollywood right now and it's great to see her embrace her natural self. I love it! 😉

  • Carla says:

Love the dress, love the hair! She was the beauty of the night.

  • Anonymous says:

LOVE this look on her. I was never a fan of her wigs…but this look, this look works and is so flattering!!

  • Nia says:

I think it's great that she decided to sport her natural hair!!! As a woman of color myself, I love to see other African-American sisters being true to themselves by wearing their own hair! I believe the song goes "It's your thing. Do what you want to do." This song applies to all women of color who go natural, and then find the beauty of it. So…rock on Ms. Viola Davis!!!

Am I the only one a little glad she didn't win last night?

That role and that movie wasn't that great in my opinion, and I think she's a talented actress with hopefully many more powerful roles in her future where she can showcase her talent.

  • NIAELAN says:

Simply Beautiful!!!!!!!! She did HER thing – HER WAY!!!!! WORK IT Miss Viola 🙂

  • Toni says:

@ Joie, I wasn't surprised that Wendy gave her the side eye today being that she's so insecure with her own hair. I really love Ms. Viola's hair.

  • Joie says:

wendy williams' style reporter gave her best hair but Wendy hated it yet everyone on "The Talk" was very supportive……..

Her hair was flawless. We still can't help ourselves… Thanks Wendy

  • CurlyChemist says:

LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT !!!

  • Erica says:

Ms. Viola's natural hair and hair color is absolutely gorgeous. I am so glad she decided to get rid of those old looking wigs. Esperanza Spaulding looked beautiful too. Her fro is super big and beatiful.

  • Raquell says:

UNRIVALED grace! She is gorgeous!! I know her Oscar will come – she's a great actress. Admittedly, I'm a little relieved that she didn't win for this role. She can do so much more

  • Dana S. says:

Viola's natural hair style looks absolutely gorgeous. I was shocked to see what it looked like because a lot of comments that were being said on the radio waves, implied that she looked bad and needed a wig or relaxer. I don't think some people will ever get it.

  • Anonymous says:

Mrs. Viola Davis looked very vibrant, youthful and confident. Having this look is a winning combination for any woman…icing on the cake!

  • Anonymous says:

I first saw her with her natural hair when she did an interview with Oprah. I couldn't believe how young she looked. I was so proud to see her on the red carpet in all her natural glory. The only thing better was if she won over Meryl but she is a winner in my book!!!

  • Anonymous says:

I can't believe some of the commenters here still found something to be critical about ("I love her hair, BUT her brows/dress/makeup/bodice is terrible")

    C'mon – she looked AMAZING.

  • Sunflowergurl says:

    Simply beautiful!

  • Anonymous says:

I loved her hair! Her entire look was on point! I thought the wigs made her look much older! She looked great!

    Erica

  • Jeannette says:

I think that she looked absolutely stunning! She looks much better with her natural hair, I am just loving her style! I gotta admit, I'm not a fan of the color green but she still looked absolutely fantastic!

  • Dee Emerald says:

She looked stunning, younger and very "Bronze Goddess-y".

  • Whitney says:

When I saw her arrive on the red carpet the first word that came to mind was amazing! She looked beautiful and so confident in her skin!

  • Sonya says:

She killed it! I'm so happy for her! And for "us." It's moments like these that change the face of fashion, beauty, and blackness. She was breathtaking!

  • Anonymous says:

Viola rocked it! And yes she does look years younger. Even though I didn't know she had natural hair under her wigs, I always felt her wigs made her look very matronly.

  • Anonymous says:

The hair is nice, but the color of it is not in my opinion…a darker color would be better against her skin.

  • Anonymous says:

    YESSSSSS!!!!!!!

  • Anonymous says:

Love it!!!! felt so proud of her…..looks way better than the fake wigs.

  • Anonymous says:

She made me rock my natural hair for the 1st time since I did my big chop. I big chopped on January 19th. After that, only family members in my home saw my natural hair. After seeing her look so regal, I wore my hair out today. So I will always thank her for that moment.

  • Sydney says:

Viola rocked it!!! So happy she was nominated! The lady is fierce and if I ever see her in person (we live in the same city-woot!), I'm going to tell her so!

  • Anonymous says:

You know I think she's a beautiful lady , and I love the afro she's rockin' and at the Oscars too . Go on now !
I'm not a fan of that color combo on her. I don't think it's all that flattering on her.

But I won't hate too much because she's a home town girl doing something positive. I respect that!

  • DrChuck24 says:

loved it…and you guys have to read why she decided to do it in her InStyle interview…:My husband told me to take my wig off.." #dope

  • Anonymous says:

SO PROUD OF HER FOR BEING SO CONFIDENT!!! AND THAT HER BLACK HUSBAND WAS RIGHT THERE REPRESENTING WITH HER! THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! THE REAL DEAL!

  • Anonymous says:

I will be soooo glad when the majority of black women will be associated with wearing REAL hair, being fit (of normal BMI and look like they could actually wear a bikini and look FAB), well-spoken and classy, as opposed to the opposite of that. The fact that Viola is all of that should not be as much of a surpise as it is being presented to the public.

I love the way Viola looks and acts (professionally and in real life), but I detest all the hoopla over what should be a normal occurrence. Even her husband said that.

She looks absolutely gorgeous! Make-up, dress and that beautiful hair all make her look so regal. You go, Ms. Viola!!!!

  • Anonymous says:

The brows are too light, but she looks FREAKIN' FABULOUS!

  • Anonymous says:

She is so freaking beautiful! Such rich features! GORGEOUS! Love confidence, her talent and hair. (Why do people post negative comments?! Come on!)

  • Anonymous says:

I've been waiting since last night to see this posted. It is a big deal that she wore her TWA that is gorgeous on Hollywood's biggest night and it just made me feel even more happy to be natural and to see it more in the media is exhilirating and I bet inspirational. To me she won an Oscar for wearing HER hair!

  • lovingmenaturally says:

She looked so pretty and I love her hair color!

  • sblazer227 says:

i love the hair, the makeup, and the color of the dress and even the bottom of the dress but that bodice is horribly, reminds me of jhudsons orange dress, in the way that their breast are supported correctly. a different neckline or maybe from ultra pushup would have KILLED it.

  • Anonymous says:

Viola's authenticity is what makes her so great on and off the screen. The look was so refreshing.

  • Anonymous says:

I LOVEEEE Viola Davis BUT that dress is not doing her justice. She has a FABULOUS body and that dress doesn't accentuate it appropriately. Her hair is lovely! Just not feeling the color.

  • Tiffany says:

Her hair does look good, the color is very complimentary to her skin tone. Definitely Fabulous! 5 stars, she looks great, now show her the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ heehee

  • Anonymous says:

I have been following Viola Davis' career for several years and am elated that she's getting the respect and accolades that she so rightfully deserves!

And she absolutely KILLED the Red Carpet at the Academy Awards…hair, gown, physique…flawless!

  • Anonymous says:

Absolutely loved her look!!! She looked so regal and gorgeous…and IMO the natural took about 10 years off of her and she looked so fresh and alive…and the hair color really bought out her beautiful color. Definitely no need for a wig/weave…just lovely!!!

  • MizzFugeela says:

The makeup was TERRIBLE but Everything else was nice. I still don't understand why everyone's making a big deal about her taking off her wig.

  • Anonymous says:

When I saw the LA Times photoshoot pics I wondered why she bothered with wigs and such. This looks much more effortless and suits her. I have seen some snarky comments about makeup etc but to me that seems like people nitpicking. There's always an opinion…
Lovely, there's nothing like "stepping into who you are"!!!

  • Erin says:

I wish I liked that gown, but I don't. She looks incredible from the neck up, though. I love love love that she went natural at the Oscars. I hope to see more of this in the future.

  • Anonymous says:

I loved her entire look!! Oh, how I wished she had won that Oscar.

  • Anonymous says:

Viola Davis looks wonderful. So did Esperanza Spalding and Octavia Spencer. Congratulations to Viola for her nomination and to Octavia for her win!!

I read some articles about Viola wearing her hair natural and was pleasantly surprised at how many commenters had such positive things to say about her natural hair (and her coming out of the wig closet). Sometimes, I think we do more of a mind job on ourselves about our natural selves than anyone else does TO us. Viola's husband was right when he said that her being her authentic self is great and should be no big deal.

  • Anonymous says:

Viola and Experanza represented big time!!!

  • Anonymous says:

I was so pleased to see Viola abandon her wig and strut her stuff in all her natural glory. She looked magnificent and the style she wore is what I hope my hair will look like in 3-4 months. She was absolutely gorgeous. Even without the Oscar she is still a winner for representing beautiful Black women! (mzcnnd)

  • ShoeHOTLINE says:

    Stunning

  • Anonymous says:

OMG A TWA ON THE RED CARPET…THE OSCARS (i don't care much for it but I know what a big deal it is in hollywood).

I LOOOOOOOOOOVE HER OMG!!! She's working it!!! I hope more black women in hollywood start rocking their hair.

  • Pecancurls says:

    Viola is just gorgeous!!!
