Hola Chicas,

It’s Thursday which means we’ve officially taken over Essence for the day!

¡Viva la Revolución!

Check out my latest installment,
where I decode alcohols commonly found in hair products. Head
over there, check it out, ‘like it’, share it and comment! Also, leave
questions of your own for the next article!

Thanks divas!

Later Gators,
Nik

Thanks for decoding the different alcohols! I am a mixed chick who has rocked my natural curls my whole life.I am trying to break away from using so many chemicals in my hair.I have been using my homemade peppermint skin quencher soap on my hair & body. Then I use gel & my diffuser on my blow dryer {essential for shiny bouncy curls} Why does a diffuser make our curls look amazing?

I didn't know this either as a new transitioner. Thanks for the heads up!

I did not know about alcohols either I have been natural my whole life (I am 22) but started straightening my hair with the hotcomb and flat iron in 6th grade. I remember I bought this flat iron spray from Cantu Shea butter that smelled like alcohol. I did not read the ingredients it had SD alcohol in it I saw it as I threw it away because my hair became dry and brittle and broke off in my hand 3 weeks later when I was in my first year of college. I now do not straighten my hair every month it is more like every 3-4 months. Right now I am rocking my 3c with a little bit of 4a hair right now and loving it.

When I like a product I always do my research on the ingredients especially if I can't pronounce them or they don't already have what it is in parenthesis. This has saved me money on a lot of products.
