A Natural Wedding Story- Temara

My husband and I were married on
the 4th of July, 2012 at The Crane Residential Resort in Barbados.  I
had no idea what I was going to do with my hair.  I love wearing my
curls, but for formal events, there’s always that pressure to straighten
it or throw in a weave.  Our ceremony was just the two of us (no
guests, no bridesmaids, no one), so I didn’t have any helping hands to
get ready for our big day.  I knew I needed a style that would be easy
enough for me to do on my own.  I decided to 2 strand twist my hair 3
days prior.  For maintenance, I sprayed with water and a little oil
(jojoba and sunflower seed) when it looked dry.  With my hair in twists,
I was able to go swimming in the ocean, get caught in warm sun showers
and just enjoy my vacation before the wedding.  If I had straightened my
hair or gotten a weave, I would have been chained to a beach chair and
worried about getting my hair wet!    On the day of the wedding, I
untwisted, fluffed and added the birdcage veil that I had made.  It came
out perfect, with very little effort.  It was very breezy so my hair
was blowing everywhere, but I think it held up pretty well and added some
drama to our pictures.  The veil decided it didn’t want to cooperate
with the breeze, so I ditched it and pinned in a simple white flower
from the arch that we were married under.  By the way, thank you so much
for curlynikki.com.  You are truly an inspiration!
