Very informative
I don't work out much because I was relaxed for as long as I remember. Now that I'm transitioning, I can't wait to work out and not be a slave to my hair. 🙂
Can you do one on how to trim natural hair without straightening it? Please?
I sweat but not that much. I usually do a top knot bun when my hair is straight and curly. For some reason I have a sensitive scalp and it itches like fire ants attacked it lol. But when I excersise my scalp does not itch so regular wash week for me.
For me, it is much easier working out with natural hair than with relaxed/straight hair. I sweat profusely when I workout, so I usually pull my hair down into a low or high pony puff if wearing it out. Otherwise, I wear it in a bun. In either case, I usually tie it down with a scarf mainly to prevent sweat from pouring down my face. I leave the scarf on until my hair is dry and then remove it. For some reason, my curls are often more defined after my workout than before. Also, I rarely feel the need to rinse my hair after workouts as it appears that my scarf absorbs most of the sweat.
Don't worry about the hair. Sometimes it may need a light rinse but most times its okay.
Congratulations on your weight loss! Awesome!
I don't worry about rinsing my hair after I workout, it doesn't bother me as long as my scalp dries completely. I just stick to my weekly washes unless my head starts to itch.
Thanks for the helpful information.
Working out is the reason why I went natural! In 2010-2011 I lost almost 30lbs with just working out & selective eating. In order for me to maintain that weight loss I had to make some changes to vanity. And that included rocking braids & sew ins and letting my natural hair grow out.
Now I'm wearing my natural hair out & I find that I have to wash or co-wash my hair the same evening of my workout. I put alot of product in my hair because my twists outs & braid outs wont stay otherwise. And while I'm working out I'll sometimes feel the oils (and smell them) sweating out of my head. So washing the same evening works best for me. And doesnt dry my hair out.
