Me: Age 2 Gia: Age 2
I finally got to show my interweb deprived grandma the pics from Boog’s spontaneous photoshoot.
She laughed ’til the tears rolled, then promptly reached into her purse and produced a picture of me at a church picnic. Gia thought it was her.
Speaking of inherited swag, peep Momma! She’s on her way to speak at a luncheon and I was quite proud of the outfit selection!

In other news, on my endless quest to find the ‘perfect’ curl cream for my WDT&Gs, I immediately regretted revisiting Miss Jessie’s Stretch Silkening Cream (gifted) last week. While it did prevent some shrinkage, it left my curls stringy, dull and hella grimey. Hubby was feelin’ the fragrance though 😉 I allowed it to fully air dry and almost immediately washed it out.
Next, I revisited Curl Junkie’s Smoothing Lotion (gifted) since I’ve been having such success with it on Gia’s twists. It leaves her naturally very dry hair smooth, moisturized and detangled for days. It also smells like heaven. For me, it’s a great leave-in/moisturizer… soft, popping curls, but I need something to hold that definition. I turned to Curl Junkie’s Pattern Pusha Gel (gifted) with high hopes, and although it initially appeared to clump the curls, as it dried, the definition went piece-y and the volume was lacking. Fail.

day 2 w/ Curl Junkie’s Coffee-Coco Curl Cream
Yesterday, I washed with Shea Moisture’s Thickening Shampoo (purchased, it’s BOMB), detangled with Herbal Essence’s Hello Hydration (purchased, *claps hands* ‘me and you, us never part!’) and used Curl Junkie’s Coffee-Coco Curl Cream (gifted) which claims to “combine the moisturizing properties of a leave-in conditioner with the hold of a light styling gel”. Product perfection, right? Hopefully. I applied it to my soaking wet hair in a raking motion followed by lots of curl smoothing. The texture is dreamy… it’s very rich and creamy like a deep treatment which made the curls pop and clump, add that to the slip and my wet hair was looking and feeling some kind of amazing. Unfortunately, it took 50 years to dry, but when it finally did, I was left with moisturized, shiny, bouncy curls. It feels devoid of product… exactly how I like it. So far, it’s a keeper despite the glycerin. I’ll keep y’all posted!

I put some in Gma’s TWA and let it dry over night. She usually combs through her definition, but this morning, she allowed me to finger style it. She still can’t figure out where all the curls came from!
What are your recent hits and misses?
Also, any of you tried the Cofee-Coco Curl Cream? Whatcha think?
