Hola Chicas,
I hope you had an excellent Easter weekend! Things were extra regular around here. It was dreary and wet so we were holed up in the house, Facetiming with the fam, Netflixin’ ratchet ‘D list’ movies and gorging on candy, comfort foods and the like. Oh, and *clutching my pearls* I finally finished 50 Shades.
After Boog and Hubby got chocolate wasted, I dipped off to play in my hurr… in peace. I had recently henna’ed (a 4 hour treatment with yogurt and heat), deep conditioned (Curl Junkie’s Rehab) and blew it back out using Ouidad’s Mongongo Oil as my leave-in and heat protectant. I employed the tension method (after allowing my hair to air dry for 20 minutes) and finished things up with the comb attachment. The results were a silkier, lighter blow-out that I promptly threw up in a bun. In the mood to hone my dry twisting skills, I sifted through my product closet, cabinet, and other closet (y’all ain’t bout that life) and decided to try Curl Junkie’s Smoothing Lotion to set the waves. I only have a little left because it’s a Holy Grail for the munchkin. I use it to re-moisturize her braids and the results are always soft, non-greasy and without build-up… not even over the course of 2 weeks. And what’s good enough for my little Guinea Pig, is good enough for me!
So I created 8 chunky twists (4 in the back, 4 up front) using a finger tip full of Curl Junkie’s Smoothing Lotion for moisture and to set each one. I trimmed the ends, tied the crown down with a scarf, and this morning released the twists before heading out, applying a little more Mongongo oil throughout. My hair is defined, soft and shiny… I’m digging the hell out of it!
Later Gators,
Nik
