I love putting cornrows between ponytails. They add such a cool twist to what otherwise would have been a boring hairstyle! The only product that I used was Just for Me moisturizing lotion to moisturize and add shine to her hair. Whatever product that you currently use will do. I also used rubber bands in this style.
The key to using rubber bands is to make sure they are not too tight, and cut them out. NEVER pull them out.
First, part the hair as above to make 3 sections. The two sections in the front will be pony tails.
This is the right side’s ponytail. Divide the hair in the ponytail and make 2 twist plaits or you can make one. Your choice.
This is the left side’s ponytail. I chose not to divide the hair in the ponytail on this side to make 2 twisted plaits, but if you want to you can.
Now you are going to make the part for your cornrows. Go along the outline of the part that’s already there for the pony tail and work your way around the head as below. Do the same thing for both sides.
Next, include the cornrows in the pony tail like the picture above. If her hair isn’t long enough to go into the pony tail, use a barrette or the like to clamp the braids in place or you can let them hang and add some beads to each cornrow. Be creative.
