the bun I rocked in St. Thomas years ago on our babymoon! |
Cookouts mixed with sparklers, family and friends and a dose of “the spirits” are what holidays are all about. Although the actual Independence holiday was yesterday, many of us are continuing the celebratory behavior all weekend long. The last thing that should be on the brain is your hair. I wish someone would tell that to the weather. Not only have the temperatures been elevated but it’s been raining cats and dogs in my community, which only adds to the humidity factor. As someone who rocks many stretch friendly styles, such as dry twist outs and braid outs, this is not a good thing. I was once a natural who denounced the umbrella citing the super powers of my mane to be like kryptonite against the rain. That changed long ago after multiple mishaps and hair infractions. I’ve since resolved myself to stick with styles that are low maintenance don’t mind a little moisture #iaintgotnoworries. Styles such as wash and go’s and buns have served me aesthetically well during this time of year. Cute textured top knots and slicked back hair decorated with some sort of headband or scarf are great ways to fight off the steamy weather brewing almost daily.
