Organix Coconut Milk Conditioner: Review for Natural Hair

“Pssst… I got that good good.” I was walking down the aisle at Tarjay (Target for my international curly sisters) and I swear the little white and gold bottle on the shelf was toying with my inner PJism. Determined to be strong I kept it moving. I turn to go on the next aisle and there it was laying all alone partially under the wheel of my cart….a damn coupon. Awww damn I thought, now I have to buy it; the thing said a whopping $1.00 off. Not one to pass up a good deal; I bought two bottles and skipped my junkie behind home.

How I Use It:
  • In the shower, I slapped on some good ole HE Totally Twisted and finger-combed through my strands after I’d separated my hair into 4 sections.
  • After detangling, I let the HE sit in my hair while I cleansed. I’ve found that the steam from the shower coupled with the conditioning elements in HE really enhance the moisturizing effects.
  • I rinsed completely and then it happened…. I flipped open the cap to the Organix bottle squirting a generous amount into the palm of my hand and WOW!!! My mouth started watering, conga drums started playing, and the sound of ocean waves crashing filled my little shower. When I say this stuff smells good, it smells good! I closed my eyes and began massaging it into my hair….ding ding ding ding YO!! This stuff is the BOMB DOT COM! It melted onto my strands, loving on them as I applied from root to ends. But seriously ladies, as a product addict, I’ve had my share of product affairs and I might have to go on and “boo” this one up. Yes I said it, I think I’m ready to commit.
Why I like it:
  •  I was bummed when my hair rejected coconut oil; I want the vitamins and nutrients it provides and as a junkie being rejected by a product is NO BUENO for my image. Organix Coconut Milk Conditioner gives my hair the nourishing effects of coconut in a medium that my hair appreciates. You see, coconut oil feels great on my hair while it’s wet. Once my hair dries though it feels like greasy straw. My hair feels amazing after the Organix dries which is so relieving.
  • The ingredients are yummyliscious (it’s a word damnit) with ingredients like organic coconut milk, whipped egg white proteins, and a little something called Behentrimonium Methosulphate (I’ve found this is a key element that my hair is really attracted to).
  • Works great as a DT (especially after henna), leave-in, and co-wash.
  • Finally, and very important ladies, the smell alone is guaranteed to get you some. My hubby was losing his mind, face and fingers all in my tresses…you know how I do.

Price and Where to Buy: $6.99/130z –purchase from Walgreens and other drug stores

Dl Water (- Aqua) , Cetyl Alcohol , Behentrimonium , Cetearyl Alcohol , Cetearyl Glucoside , Glyceryl Stearate , Glycerin , Cyclomethicone , Dimethicone , Jojoba Oil , Panthenol , Silk Amino Complex , Coconut Milk , Egg White Protein , Coconut Oil , Tocopheryl Acetate (- Vitamin E) , Tetrasodium EDTA , Fragrance , DMDM Hydantoin, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone

  • Madirv says:

I used this shampoo after reading how bad SLS was for your hair. I have used it twice and my hair is worse than when I used ordinary SKS based shampoos. My hair was very dry and dull. Definitely not recommended

  • Anonymous says:

Does it have harsh chemicals? I've been hearing that lately.. It isn't as great as the paraben free products. Can someone confirm?

  • Anonymous says:

  • Anonymous says:

i love this stuff. i just so happen to buy this product two days ago just to try it. The smell got me. it smells delicious! but is very light and rinses out clean. my hair is definitely softer! will be a keeper. i just wish it came with a little more in the bottle

  • SimplyMars9 says:

ITA!! Before using this I always have to spend at least a minute just smelling it, it smells like coconut heaven! and it just turns my hair to butter! and the best part??? I can use it to DC, co-wash and as a leave-in. Definitely a staple product.

  • Anonymous says:

Wonderful review. What concerns me are the silicones that are in this product. That's the only thing that stop?

  • Natasha J says:

I just wanted to say that Queen and I have the same hair type!!! I was taken aback to see hair like mine. YEY!! I've been looking for a hair twin………The Organix Smoothing Shea Conditioner works the best for me as my hair is prone to frizz. It gives me super star hair. Beleive me I sent pics to everyone i knew the first time I tried it; I was just that amazed to have totally frizz free hair without the assistance of gel. Great review!

  • Anonymous says:

Ok… "I might have to go on and “boo” this one up" had me in stitches!

Awesome review and love the condish too… used it to co-wash this morning and I'm still smelling it now… YUMMY!

  • YLonda says:

I love this product. I have the shea butter and grapseed shampoo and conditioner also from Organix. Walgreens currently has a sale 2/6.99! Yippee I had to get my winter supply.

  • Anonymous says:

I thought i was the only one loving this product and mixing it with cantu shea butter!!! yeah, it leaves my hair so soft and fluffy, especially after my apple cider rinse. I'm totally inlove with this product but i wish the bottles were in a bigger size. i use the conditioner to co-wash and the shampoo twice a month and it works great with my hair

  • Anonymous says:

Ive tried this stuff a couple of time; my hair just doesn't like it. It always ends of feeling dry and crunchy. A word of warning to those who are sensitive to smells: this one gave me migraines. Wished it worked; I was actually pretty excited when I bought it…

  • Anonymous says:

I absolutely stand by this product. My hair loves it. The smell is ridiculous and stays on all day. You know how you walk pass someone and your like 'girl what is that making your hair smell so good?' With Organix Coco milk I am that girl and I love love love it!!! If only they made it in jumbo size. I use the entire coco line. I too use it with Cantu Shea Butter and my hair has never been softer!

  • Monique says:

Wow I thought I was the only one that loved this conditioner!! I recently BC'd about 3 weeks ago and I have about 1 and a half inches of hair. I use this as a leave in conditioner and it does my curls so good!. It also gives my hair a little bit of shine. It defines my curls but doesn't leave it hard. All I do is apply some of this conditioner with some Cantu Shea Butter and seal it with a little bit of olive oil and I'm set! I love this conditioner!!!!

  • Tiffany says:

I use it also, it is AWESOOOOOOOOOOOOMEEE! I also use the Organix Tea Tree Condish as well (I use it and mix it with the Pantene R&N when deep conditioning) BUY IT!!

  • Anonymous says:

Aww, dang. Y'all trying to make me go out and get this. I said I was going to use up what I had, but I've been eyeballing this for a couple of months.

  • Nicole says:

I use the shampoo on my scalp only and conditioner. It works wonders for me and my daughter's hair. I must admit our hair loves coconut!

  • Anonymous says:

I have been using this product for a while now and the smell is amazing, sometimes i feel like just eating my hair. 🙂

  • MJ says:

Cosigning! This is the best post ever! Too funny! I felt like I knew her. 🙂

  • Queen says:

Thanks ladies!! Be sure to hit me up…my contact info is at the end of the post.

@ Nappturall: I do that with EVOOO every once in awhile but never thought to try it with coconut oil. Thanks for the tip!

  • Nappturall says:

@ Queen and others who was was bummed when their hair rejected coconut oil; wanting the vitamins and nutrients it provides….you can still use coconut oil two ways…to get all its GREAT benefits…you can put coconut oil in you hair at night and wash it out in the morning….and/or add to a cheapie condish.

  • Cygnet says:

@dajewel1982, If I read the review correctly, she used the HE to cowash and followed up with the Organix as a leave-in. This makes sense in light of the fact that, according to Tiffany (The Curl Whisperer), most leave-ins have the same ingredients as a rinse-out, just watered down, which is why some of us use rinse-outs for leave-ins.

  • dajewel1982 says:

but why do you use the herbal essence before you use this?

  • the eXclusive says:

LOL, I love this product, I don't use the conditioner though, just the shampoo and it has an amazing affect on my hair.

  • sweetdrk1 says:

LMAOOOOOO I love it! Please know I will be purchasing a bottle tmrw. I have to after this!

  • The Way God Made ME says:

I SWEAR by this product. I love it. I use the shampoo and the breakage oil.

  • Anonymous says:

I think cetyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol that is derived naturally from palm or coconut oils and used as an emollient in cosmetics and thickeners for shampoos and conditioners.

  • Pretty Awesome Penguin says:

I love the shampoo, now I have to try the conditioner!

  • kimmie0810 says:

I see this all the time and I'm so tempted! Now the PJ in me MUST go and get this. CN is bad for my pockets & my addiction. I've bought no less than 15 conditioners in the past 2 weeks. My friends are thinking of doing an intervention lol. Now I've GOT to go get this. I love the smell of coconut & this little bottle has been callin me like crack called Pookie. And I resisted. Until now.

  • MღRLz says:

Loved the review and I've wanted to try this for a long time but it contains DMDM Hydantoin and I heard that was bad for the body….I'm about ready to give in though, thanks to this review! LOL

  • Anonymous says:

Another commenter mentioned this but I was curious about the alcohol too… It doesn't dry out your hair?

Which leads to another question for someone CN or the curl whisperer or anyone: clearly alcohol by itself would be damaging but what is the ingredient that offsets the effects of the alcohol? Cuz there has to be one right???

  • Anonymous says:

Queen, I REALLY enjoy your reviews and your writing style in general! Keep them coming, you are the BEST!!!

  • Aye Luah says:

Nikki, where you find this girl at? Queen you are HILLARIOUS! anytime I see her name, I know an honest belly laugh is on the way. Everytime I see that conditioner I walk right on past it with my nose in the air. I'm thinking I might hop on over to Target this weekend and try it out. I'll make sure to update on how it works on my 4c hair

  • danniebella says:

I LOVE this review. I think this is one of the best reviews I've ever read. (Btw.. u would make a great English teacher… onomatopoeia and all of that stuff or even a marketing exec) And I'm definitely going to try this product.

  • af says:

great review (very entertaining). someone in my household uses it and youtube'r rusticbeauty used to use it on her hair. i read the ingredients on the back of the bottle and when i saw cetyl alcohol i was kind of leary of using it just b/c i know that the use of alcohol in products can really dry out your hair.
so i haven't tried this product yet, but it does smell really gud.

i personally like to stick to burt's bees baby shampoo twice a month, ACV rinses and an eggyolk, honey conditioner every wk. which seems to do the trick

but thank you very muchf or your review, ill have to go back and look at some of your past reviews!

  • Cygnet says:

This lady is a first-class wordsmith! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this review; I laughed my way through it. If I knew that was all it took to "get me some" . . . okay, circumstances and man must be right, but hey! if they ever align, I'll be sure to have this product on hand :-)!

And the hair is rockin', too.

  • Kiya says:

    very pretty

  • nellboogie says:

    Best. Post. Ever.

  • Vibrant1 says:

Awesome review! lol I agree 100% I love Organix Coconut Milk Conditioner, the smell is sooo nice!! I also liked the Tea Tree Oil Conditioner by Organix as well!

  • Chardae says:

I've been on it for a while now but the protein makes my hair so hard and crunchy I had to let it go…I was not happy!

  • Queen says:

@Beverly: I do what I can. Glad you enjoy!! Go get it girl, you won't be disappointed.

@Sweet LD: Girl I'm from The Great State of Texas! I live in NC now though. I used to go hard at HEB lol

@Anon #1: I don't share either and hubs is bald so I don't have to issue out any beatdowns.

@Tina: Girl, it was LIVE in the shower! Trust.

  • Maria says:

LMAO i love your reviews! LOL@Conga Drums!
I used this product a few months ago. I love the smell, but I noticed that after a few uses my hair just wasn't responding the same so I had to discontinue using it. You should try the shea butter and tea tree oil conditioners, they smell great too.

  • Tina Beanie says:

Bwhahaahh @ Conga drums…I was picturing you dancing madly in the shower while you condished the locks! LOL! I have to grab this one, too. I have the pomagrante/vanilla one, but have not tried yet. www.elantresses.blogspot.com

I saw this in HEB and I thought it looked like pretty good, but I haven't tried it! Im going to have to give it a try! Thanks for the feedback!

Listen I have gone in the store and bought multiple bottles so i didn't runout. This si the best conditioner ever. I even looked on ebay for a deal on multipke bottles. If they stop making this product i would loose it – I even fought my husband and daughter over using it. IT'S MINE!

  • Danielle says:

I can totally co-sign on this review. It is a great conditioner – but its one of my favs b/c its the BEST smelling out of all my products. No contest.

    YUM!

  • Sweet LD says:

I don't know where you're located, but HEB (a grocery store in Texas) has all organix products buy one get one for free. The price is $5.99. I bought the shea butter and coconut conditioners last night.

  • Beverly says:

Queen, I love your reviews! You're hilarious. I've been eyeing this one for awhile and saw another good review on a different site. I'm sold!
