Meet Chime…I’m literally rendered speechless! This girl’s got it:
CN: How long have you been natural?
C: I have been completely natural for 8 months (since February 2009). I began transitioning 2 years and 3 1/2 months prior to that.
CN: What is your current regimen?
C:
~I wash my hair once a week.
~I co-wash with Aubrey’s Honey Suckle Rose conditioner. I used to shampoo my hair with Aubrey’s Island Naturals and Honey Suckle Rose shampoo every 2 months but they both made my hair feel stiff so I stopped using them. I’m still looking for a great all natural shampoo.
~I don’t wash my hair in braids anymore. I wash my hair in four sections. One section at a time. It doesn’t tangle as much this way.
~After co-washing, I spray my hair with a Vegetable Glycerin and water mix, Giovanni’s leave-in conditioner, and I seal it with Coconut Oil.
~I only comb my hair after I wash it and it is still wet.
~I deep condition my hair weekly with Aubrey’s Glycogen Protein Conditioner. Most of the time I wear two plastic caps with a stocking cap to bed for an overnight conditioning. I usually do this on Fridays and rinse my hair when I wake up and then I’ll twist it. If I don’t have time to do an overnight conditioning or I’m out of the Glycogen Protein Conditioner, I’ll use the Honey Suckle Rose and wear a plastic cap for an hour or however much time I have to spare.
~I twist my hair after I wash it. I wear twists the majority of the time. I would say 75% of the time. And I will wear my hair out to church or whenever I want to look fierce! lol
~I use coconut oil on the ends of my hair daily.
~I only use all natural products or products that are at least 98% natural. I order mostly from iherb.com.
CN: How do you maintain length? Moisture?
C: I apply Giovanni’s Direct Leave-In Weightless Moisture Conditioner after I wash my hair and a Vegetable Glycerin and water mix. Both products keep my hair moisturized throughout the week.
CN: How do you protect your curls a night?
C: I just apply Coconut Oil and a Satin scarf. I re-twist some of the curls that have lost their spring with Giovanni’s Leave-In Conditioner.
CN: What would you tell a new natural, or transitioning diva?
C: You will become frustrated somewhere along your natural hair journey but DON’T GIVE UP! Educate yourself as much as you can on the best transition styles and how to care for your hair while transitioning and when you’re completely natural. There are so many blogs, informational sites, and youtube videos that you can learn from.
CN: What’s the best thing about being naturally glamorous?
C: Natural hair makes anything I wear look EXTRA fly! It’s really like an accessory!
C: Natural hair makes anything I wear look EXTRA fly! It’s really like an accessory!
CN: Anything else you want to add?
C: Saying no to the chemicals is the best thing that you can ever do for your hair. Being natural is so freeing! And it really helps you to embrace and love who you truly are!

Hey Chime! I just started my journey, May 2010 was my last relaxer and I plan to transition for a year or two (If I can) My hair was cut into a jaw line bob so cant do much with it. I currently have a sew-in, what styles did you do to transition?
Your hair is stunningly beautiful btw!!!
OMG I LOVE YOUR HAIR!!!!
i saw chime's fotki page before curlynikki interviewed her and it was seeing chime's page that kept me going with my transition 'cause I was about to go back to the creamy crack. i am glad that curly nikki interviewed her and showed the world what I saw that night when I was depressed and thought I had no choice but to go back to relaxing — gorgeous, THICK, healthy, natural, black hair. chime i left you a message on your fotki but if you didn't get it and you are reading comments, please know that you being natural and actually sharing your crowing glory has helped a sistah out there keep hope alive and keep keepin' on to the natural. 🙂 take care.
OMG your hair is beautiful!

Thank you so much Chime for sharing your hair info. I have felt like shaving my head many a times, but when I saw your pictures, I realized that I just need to take better care of my hair not to get frustrated. I love your look and style.

Hey guys! It's me Chime! Thanks for all of the lovely compliments guys!! Wow! You all sure know how to make a girl feel special! lol My hair ego is through the roof right now! lol Y'all really had me laughing out loud with some of the comments! I'm going to try to answer all of the questions that you guys posted. I hope I don't overlook any. Here we go:
-The brand of coconut oil and vegetable glycerin I use is Now Foods. I order it from iherb.com
-The vegetable glycerin and water mix is done at home. Just fill half of a spray bottle with water and the other half with vegetable glycerin then shake it up.
-I clip my ends maybe twice a year or whenever they need it. I mostly dust my ends.
-I have never straightened my hair for fear that some of the ends will not revert back to its kinky texture so I'm not sure how long it is exactly. I may straighten it for a wedding in May and do a length check then. We'll see…
-My fotki name is BrwnSkinBeauty.
Umm…I think that was all of the questions! My twitter and facebook info. is posted on my fotki page. Thanks again and happy growing ladies!!:)
