I modified mine and I think it is the culprit of my new slit ends even though it defines my curls like whoa! I have very thick hair.

I did this last summer & it still pulled out too much of my fine, soft mostly 4a/b . I THEN CUT OFF EVERY OTHER BRISTLE in each row. It's a bit better but it pulls my hair too much so I still seldon use it. I do MUCH better with a heavy wide tooth comb. I really don't see how anyone can use a Denman on 4b/c hair without ripping it all out.Gonna get a Ouidad Double Detangler & see how that works.

It works. I did it with my $4 conair denman knockoff and it works like a charm. Ladies do this asap.

I did this and I love it!

It wasn't horrible for me before doing this, but it's even better now. Easier to get through the hair and still gets the sheds out. They make single strand knots worse if I leave them out.

I modified my brush last night and used it in the shower, what a big difference it made for me. Thanks for posting.

I did it I dont think it has made a huge difference for me. I didnt have a problem with the Denaman before though, just thought i'd try it out.

It's so funny…I was just about to put up a thread about this. I did the same thing to my denman about a month ago and I can definitely notice the change. I loose about half the amount of half the amount of hair that i did before.

Good tutorial, but I would recommend getting a Denman D41 or D31…it's worth the $13. I've never been happier.

I just did this to my Denman last week, I forgot to try it in the shower though,I'll be trying that out tonight 🙂

Yes! I came across this video a few months ago after I had purchased ANOTHER Denman with wider spaced rows (D31 I think) because the one from Sally's pulled my hair out. I don't use it all the time due to the Doctor's article about brushing last week. But when I do use it, it gets all shed hairs out so well. Awesome! It saves your investment!

This is the only way I use my denman.

YESSSS I came across this video recently and it saved my denman cause I was going to trash it too. I only kept the 5 middle rows (no spaces in btwn). It works like a charm!!!!!!

  • Unknown says:

Yup, I did it a few months ago and yes ma'am, it has truly made a difference in my ridiculously thick hair!!!!

  • Beads, Braids & Beyond says:

I DID IT! Woooo. I'll keep you updated on how it works. Kudos to agrlcanmac for the great tutorial.

  • Beads, Braids & Beyond says:

Ahh! I'm fighting with the brush RIGHT NOW! LOL! I can't get it out! This coconut oil on it is not helping.

  • Beads, Braids & Beyond says:

I haven't tried this but I guess I will now!

  • Unknown says:

just bought a denman d3 at sallys on sale 8.99 and tried it and noticed it was a little difficult on my 4a hair so i modified and it really is a difference.

    thanks
