CN: How long have you been natural?
I’ve been natural for about 12 years
CN: Were you a long term or short term transitioner, and why?
I was a long term transitioner. Back then there wasn’t a lot of info on what to do so I had to figure it out on my own. For a year I got it braided, or rod set it. Then one day I didn’t feel like setting my hair so I sat at the mirror and started cutting off my relaxed ends until it was all natural.
CN: What is your current regimen?
My regimen is pretty simple. I shampoo with Suave clarifying, then follow with Suave almond and shea and Garnier Fruictis Triple Nutrition. Then I condition with Aussie Moist, Garnier Fructis Triple nutrition, Pantene [Nature Fusion] Moisture Balance, Pantene Beautiful Lengths and Dove intense moisture. During the week I workout so I leave the conditioner in and put it into a donut or a french braid. Then by Thursday, if I have plans for the weekend, I’ll rinse the conditioner, shampoo again with the Triple Nutrition then style.
CN: How do you achieve your signature fro?
It actually takes me 2 days to achieve my fro. After the shampooing and conditioning, I detangle my hair then put it into a fro ponytail for a day. By the next day I take it down, pick it out and shape it.
CN: Any tips for achieving voluminous twist or braid sets?
I’ve been using the same thing for my twists, braids, fro. etc., since I went natural. I like to mix all of my conditioners and water in a spray bottle to moisten my hair with. If you like you may add EVOO to it too!! I guess it’s like my version of leave-in conditioner for my hair. When my fro gets dry, I also spray my hair with it and it makes it much easier to pick out. That mix also works great as a detangler for little girls!!!
CN: How do you maintain Length? Moisture?
90% of my natural hair life is spent with conditioner in it and I think that has helped me with maintaining my hairs length and moisture. I very seldom have to use moisturizer in my hair, and when I first went natual my hair was extremely dry!!!
CN: Night time routine?
At night I usually tie it with a satin scarf and I always sleep on satin pillow case. If I wear it down, I’ll stufff it into a satin bonnet to keep my curls from going flat.
CN: What would you tell a new natural, or transitioning diva?
I always tell them to just be patient and pay attention to your hair.
CN: What’s the best thing about being naturally glamorous?
The versatility is what I like the best, but the fact that almost all of my family and alot of my friends have gone natural because of seeing my hair and how healhy it is, is what I love the most.
CN: Anything else you want to add?
I would just like to thank Curly Nikki for letting me tell my story and tell and tell everyone to enjoy their nautural hair. Going natural was the best decision I’ve ever made for my hair, I wouldn’t change it for the world!!!
Love the look. Great!
Congrats on winning the Guiness World for your beautiful hair.
Beautiful hair!! That's what I want to achieve! I tweeted this and emailed this article to myself!

BEAUTIFUL HAIR!!!!
THAT IS THE BADDEST AFRO I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE! YOU'RE MY INSPIRATION! YOU GO!
I love it Aevin! Thanks for sharing!
Stunning! Your hair is just so beautifull. 🙂
Domino took the words right out of my mouth. My new hair idol literally. I'm giving myself the net 5 years to get that fro. So absolutely gorgeous!!!
Who said kinky hair won't grow? They lied to ME!
Aevin, your hair is so juicy I wanna take a bite (no homo). LOL… Keep doin ya thing, cuz u do it well!!!!
Thank you all for the compliments!!! In the 3rd pic my hair was twisted and taken aloose. I used ponytail holders to wrap down the length of the twists to get them to hang longer. Then in the 4th pic, it was twisted and the ends set on orange rods. (Thats how I get my hair to appear to be another texture) My hair is far from curly and very much kinky!!!LOL!!!!!! It used to be really dry too but I think the conditioners over the years helped with that alot. I've suggestd these same products to people with kinkier hair than mine and for some of them, they wrked. I can't say that my regimen will wrk for all, just as others hadn't worked for me. With natural hair, it really is a trial and error, hit or miss kind of thing. I just hope that my suggestions helped somebody a little. AEVIN
I saw her hair on BGLHonline and while I will say I thought it was lovely then, deep down I knew she was not anywhere near a 4b (the third pic here was not included on there. It was hard to tell without that third pic. Aevin has great hair but it is nothing like my hair and I feel she was being pushed as an inspiration to type 4 women who will never achieve her length or fro size. Another give away would be the products she uses and her simple routine. I'm glad she has inspired many but just hope people realise that this is not a reality for all naturals.
i saw her interview on BGLH. I would like to see an afro video tutorial from her, because hers is obviously the biggest and baddest! I want to know how she gets it that big
I love the simplicity of her routine and the photos she shared. I wish I could travel back to the 70s when our natural styles were much appreciated and adored beyond our supportive circles.
absolutely stunning!!!!!!!!!!!
love how she's not afraid to rock that huge fro! loves it

Hair Porn!
Absolutely GORGEOUS!!
Your hair is beautiful!
Your hair so healthy and beautiful. Gives me something to look forward to. I'm only 2 months into transitioning so I know there's a long road ahead for me. *thumbs up*
Anonymous 4:53pm, I also have very curly 3b/c hair & I wore it in a 'fro for Halloween. I had absolutely no tangling & didn't have to manipulate it much either. What I did was moisturize a dry wash n go & make fat plaits all over my head & tie it up the night before. When I was ready to style, I undid the plaits with a little oil on my hands & just picked it out. It was huge & soft & billowy but stayed in place & was no trouble to comb down & twist that night for bed.
I learned this from my dad who is a 3b bordering on c & had the biggest baddest 'fro EVER! LOL
Thanks for the encouraging story and patience is the word. Love love your hair!!
Wow! What beautiful hair and a beautiful spirit! You are definitely my new hair idol! I'm going to definitely take your advice. Thanks for sharing your story!
Absolutely stunning!
Beautiful, just beautiful!!
This woman is my hair idol right now. Big giant fro, my texture, and low maintenance keep up? Yes, please. I'm saving her pics for inspiration (okay that sounded creepy lol).

She is beautiful and her hair is gorgeous!!! The fro is to die for! lol Love it!!! Aussie Moist, Suave Almond and Shea Butter and Garnier Triple Nutrition are 3 of my favorite. Avevin are the conditioners listed mixed or are they rotated?
Great interview!
I need to go back to leaving conditioner in my hair all the time. I don't know why I ever stopped doing it.
how did you achieve the style for the 3rd pic? looks so pretty and wavy
Thank you for this info! So it won't damage hair to leave conditioner in it??? I mean, it sure seems to work for Avevin!
She is gorgeous! Glad she was able to share with us
Hair is awesome. I tried the same hairstyle for my birthday and it was awesome as well, an attention grabber for sure. However, my very curly 3b/c hair was extremely manipulated from combing it out into the fro and as a result, washing and detangling afterward was a challenge and it took forever. I love the style so much that of course I'm not done with the style.
Very beautiful hair. So huge and lovely.

Your hair is SO beautiful! I love it – something to aspire to 🙂
I love your hair it's so fly. Garnier Triple Nutrition is one of my favorites too. It makes my hair so much eaiser to detanglel, and it keeps the moisture in far better than many other products I've tried.
Absolutely stunning!
Lovely hair and great attitude!
