I am still pretty new to the natural world but sister i jst want to Thank you for voicing your opinion on ignorance. Its really mind blowing that Blacks are still being persecuted for the simpliest things. If we want to embrace our heritage thru the form of cutting our hair and going natural then whats the big deal ppl. Shouldnt we be talking about something more important like poverty and ppl killing each other. But oh no, if i can be responible for tearing someone thats stepping outside the box by choice then life is complete(thats what she said) smh. By saying that you are too ugly for a twa is just another way of trying to keep blacks closed mind and in a box. I am a full blooded Haitian- American and i keep my ppl high up. When i decided to BG in March it was to make a stmt. Showing that i am not my hair and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Destiny you are very exotic and i absolutely adore the confidence that you exude. ugly with my twa or not, there is no turning back for Rain(my hair) and I. Preciate you girlie and stay up my sister

Thank you sis……you sure did "ROCK" this issue!!! And, we, as women of color need to embrace what your saying & honor one another! We are who we are, and we are beautiful!! We should not try to fit into someone else's mold! Thank you, thank you…..you have inspired me to accept who I am & what God gave me!!! It is what it is…and we are,who we are!!!

Thank you for this video. I think you and I have similar features and hair and I am just starting my natural hair journey. I can relate to ALL the insecurities. I have shoulder length natural hair but still struggling with my edges in the front. So styling is a bit of an issue. I COULD just get a relaxer and ,my hair would look like every other relaxed head with shoulder length hair but I want to try rocking my hair in a way I never have before. I am terrified of the thoughts of other, I have already been laughed at and stared at in public. But when you realize you are doing it for yourself it makes you so much stronger. I want to embrace me and define beauty for myself. I believe YOU and I are beautiful and every girl has the right to feel beautiful in her own skin and hair.

Not everything is for everybody…too ugly for a twa may be a wee bit extreme but i do think its important for us to honestly acknowledge that not every style accentuates us as well as another style would.

Hey! This video really helped me a lot(: I'm 15 years old and recently decided to stop with the relaxers. I was raised with relaxers, but now I am at the age where I can start to make decisions for myself and the whole processed hair thing just isn't for me .. I've been transitioning for 6 months so I do have quite a bit of new growth but I also have my relaxed ends still. I've been debating about getting a twa , but I wasn't sure how other people would accept it . But after this video , I don't care what other people think. I'm gunna make this change for myself and I'm gunna rock it not only fiercely, but happily. Thanks for the inspiration(:

  • Ashley says:

You are beautiful, I think the shorter hair forces people to see YOU! Gorgeous features, glowing skin….. Thank you…thank you, thank you!!! Ive wanted to transition for a long time and once I started I hated those bone straight ends! I went to my bathroom and pulled out my shears!!!! I loved it but was worried about how it would be recieved:( Oh well, its ME and IM LOVING my TWA!!!

Great video and beautiful woman. I personally think that not everyone can rock a TWA. Natural hair, yes of course, but not everyone looks good with short hair. Just my humble opinion. She should try using castor oil on her edges. She can definitely rock the bald look.

Hi Nikki – thank you sooooo much for posting this video! Amazing!!

Not sure why this beautiful woman has any insecurities, with those gorgeous eyes, skin, teeth and personality. But, it's a internal battle all women must face. Be blessd ya'll!

  • Quaneasha says:

Like many of the other people said, she is beautiful and could totally rock the bald look!

Anywho… I can only imagine the backlash that a video titled "Too Ugly For a TWA" would have received. Though I did not get to see the actual video, I can see why it has been removed.

I agree with everything you said. Certain hairstyles may be better suited for certain face shapes, head sizes, etc. However, to call someone ugly is beyond ridic! And I just do not get how one can be too "ugly" for a hairstyle.

Well said on the video, and you are gorgeous love the color of that lipstick.

The actress Viola Davis from the movie "The Help" is actually natural and looks gorgeous with her hair. I'll post the link with all of the pictures of her listed.

Thank you for doing this video!! You are so confident and beautiful. You have no idea what an inspiration you are.

  • NaturallyNatural says:

I think your video, as others have said, is well thought out and put together. Thank you for speaking for those of us naturals who did not see the original but know where you coming from. One thing we all have to remember is, it took years to brain wash African Americans to straighten their perfectly coiled hair and it may take years to reverse the damage. But atleast we are on to a good start. Look at how long we have been working on desegregation. Let's all continue to fight the good fight. Happy Black History Year!!

She is gorgeous. I had a not so twa and thought my head looked too big. But as she said, it's is my head, my hair, and I have to live with it. Live with it, Love it!

  • Dana says:

Love this response, very well stated. This woman is beautiful and her skin is AMAzing! Destiny your inner beauty and intelligence far outshine a large forehead issue. YOU GO GIRL!

    Thanks for sharing

I think this is an awesome video response. You are so well spoken, elegant and beautiful. I love the fact that you are authentically yourself and seem to believe that you should NOT compare yourself to others. I always tell my kids that God made us different – on purpose! It seems you already know that. Rock it!

  • Angelina says:

She is so beautiful and elegant it's BANANAS! If I saw her on the street I would probably fall/knock over/run into something staring at her! LOL!

  • Anonymous says:

that woman is crazy beautiful! like ridiculously beautiful!

  • Anonymous says:

I just want to know if God made us all, who decide who is pretty and who is ugly? I think the UGLY are people who feel they have a right to call someone else ugly.

I cannot believe anyone can look as gorgeous as you and still doubt herself! Destiny, You are gorgeous! Yes, your head is big, but it is flawless! You could definitely rock the bald look too!

Does it make me lookist to say, I could look at you all day and not get tired?

Thank you so much for putting yourself out there as a role model for darker-skinned women. Your makeup- (and other) tips are fabulous. I much prefer you wigless, rocking your natural curls.

  • Marian says:

Excellent video. You are beautiful and your comments were on target. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, beautiful girl and very articulate as well…she should write a book or be a spokesperson. A lot of these youtubers who ramble end up demonstrating their own ignorance. But she is talking very intelligently about this important topic without a script. BRAVO!!!

  • Anonymous says:

Appreciate you doing this video girl! Your strength and confidence exudes so beautifully and I'm going to try to let some of it rub off on me during my natural hair journey (and life in general) 🙂 Thanks for taking the time to inspire. You look great by the way!

Screw this too ugly for whatever crap…I've been there done that, it's thinking that just wears down the spirit.

People are not cutting into a TWA for a new hairstyle but it's BEYOND (even if it was for a new style it wouldn't matter)…that sort of talk is so negative and is just too scare people to doing what they want because OTHERS won't approve of it. If you find someone ugly DON'T LOOK AT THEM, that's what most people do! To sit there and try to discourage women from taking such a personal decision? Get outta here and worry about your own self.

  • RandomlySpeaking says:

You have got the face for NO HAIR at all. I'm looking at just the thumbnails for your videos and while too gorgeous the natural look on you is what's up. (This is coming from someone who wears a wig on the regular–so i'm no natural hair nazi) but you got it girl. Subscribed!

I am watching this with a head wrap/scarf that I learned how to tie from Destiny! I wear my natural hair too, but I am glad I found her scarf videos. They work great as a protective "style".

I believe black women are on the crest of a new wave of self-love and self-appreciation (not just around hair, but in general) and videos like "Too Ugly for a TWA" (which thankfully I didn't see) just bring down that energy. Isn't it bad enough that the rest of the world brings us down? Why do we still do it to each other? Glad Destiny tackled the subject so eloquently (while looking gorgeous).
