The Best Black-Owned Hair Care Brands to Shop in 2022 – Our Ongoing Series!

Hey, hey! Welcome to the final installment in CurlyNikki’s ongoing series featuring a mix of well-known and up-and-coming Black-owned hair care brands.
Each has an identity all its own but they are all connected by a common goal: creating Black hair products that will produce the best results for textured hair. A healthy scalp and hair, leading to curls with tons of definition, hydration, and bounce are what these brands are all about.
Our series included a total of 60 Black-owned hair care brands. We are honored to have been able to share them with you. We know it’s just a small sample of the entrepreneurs of color who are striving to make a positive change in industries that impact the Black community.

Here are the five Black-owned hair care brands we are highlighting for you in our final round-up.
1. NaturAll Club
NaturAll Club is truly one of the standout Black-owned hair care brands. It is “the world leader in fresh and frozen hair care” and is dedicated to helping you “be deliciously you.” The brand was founded by Muhga Eltigani in 2016. She had done the big chop on her damaged hair and then nurtured new, healthy hair growth with plant-based, all-natural products she made in her kitchen. Today, NaturAll has a wide range of hydrating, strengthening, and smoothing products, along with frozen treatments and curly haircare accessories.

That may be because this is one of the Black-owned hair care brands that focus on hair of all types – from tightly coiled to bone straight and everything in between. Owner and product developer Marsha Coulton has big plans for the brand, including fulfilling her mission to create the true “holy grail” hair care product that works wonders for ALL types of hair!

The Rucker Roots product line is inspired by homemade hair care products the sisters’ mother concocted to help their hair flourish when they were growing up.

Like many other little girls, Jamellah Ellis loved styling, coloring, and cutting her dolls’ hair as a child. That passion inspired her when, as an adult, with her life at a crossroads, she walked away from a secure 20-year career as a lawyer and ventured out into the realm of Black-owned hair care brands. With the philosophy that “life begins at the end of your comfort zone’” she opened her own upscale salon for natural hair, Curl Theory, in 2017. Its success was soon followed by a line of Curl Theory hair care products.
