I just started a new job and one day while walking to the break room I was approached by another natural who asked about my twist out and complemented my look. She seamed impressed that it was a two week old twist out and asked how i maintain length and moisture. I passed on the name of the curly nikki site and a few products that worked for me.
I just love all your advice!!! I especially love the product reviews! You list the ingredients as well as the pros and cons. That really helps me determine if I want to try a product or not. I recently tried Herbal essence totally twisted and I LOVED it! If it wasn't for your raves about it, I probably would have never tried it!
I love you site, it very informative, congrats on the 900+

Nik, Congrats on your success! I think I was follower number 45 or some such… how time flies! Thanks to you I am a *local* natural hair guru and henna-head. I've even got moms using henna+indigo to cover the grey and my sister's in transition. Every member of my family is natural, and I am taking the revolution to the four corners! Woo hoo!
I love this site because as I have stated to you before, you really helped me and gave me the knowledge to "stick" it out and not go back to relaxing. My biggest hang up was tangling. I dreded washing my own hair, so I would go to the salon weekly just to keep it up and avoid the comb out drama. Thanks to you and your site, I not only learned how to manage my tangled woes, but I also learned a lifetime of information on hair care, growth, and product use. I don't know how to thank you because you just don't know how you have made my journey so peaceful. I look forward to the day that I am 100% natural and I can truly say I owe this pleasant and liberating experience to you. Thanks a million! Your St. Louis Shi Sista!
Hi Nikki!!! I love your blog, and I credit you with giving me the kick in the rump that I needed to give henna a try. My hair has never been happier! Henna, along with shea butter, which I apply all over are holy grail products for my hair. The shea butter seals in moisture like nobody's business, and I believe it also conditions my hair and makes it easier for me to detangle on was days.
Thank You! I hope I'm the lucky one;o)
I love love love this site. It's one of my favorite hair blogs!!!
It makes me so happy to see that natural hair can be healthy and long by just taking care of it. Your site is amazing because I've learned so many styles to do on my natural hair and what products are useful for my hair type. Thank you Nikki and I hope that many people join this site and push the myth that "black hair can't grow long and be healthy".
Henna22
I love my twa because it feels so healthy, even when it's dry. It feels so much better than when it was relaxed. I hardly got sleep at night for fear of having no hair in the morning! Quite frankly, I am in love, and I am so sorry for hiding myself from myself.
PS I love your site because of all the transition stories! I hardly transitioned (2 months) but some were really diligent, and it's great seeing all the pictures. It's like before and after of a super makeover, because all the curly heads always look so much cuter than the relaxed ones.
I love your site! You're a true inspiration 🙂
Hey CN!!!
I love website – classy, sophisticated, and informative- and CONGRATS!!! You know your work is paying off and I hope that your success only increases!! I love natural hair because its originally GORGEOUS and to each curlie, their hair is ALLL their own!!!

Btw, did I mention congrats on the 900 followers?
Hey Nikki,
I love your site. I love forward to seeing what you have to say each day about natural hair care. I've learned so much! My big chop is coming soon and I am a little nervous but excited. Congratulations on 900 followers! You are an inspiration. My number is 12…my son's birthdate.

Congrats on the 900+ WHOOO!!!! I'd have to say I love this site because of the 100% SISTERLY LOVE!!! From this site, we gain more than just information, but it's a bit like we meet other people and we gain friendships and resources that I'll never forget on this journey. I'm so proud to be one of your 900+ readers and I can guarantee you there'll be more! And I love my hair because I can use what I've learned about it to inform others and going natural has been the first step I've taken to real self confidence in a LONG time- and you've contributed to it!
First congrats on 900+ readers! You are truly gifted at what you do, so keep it up! I appreciate the knowledge you share because it has helped me establish my hair regimen, so for that, thank you.
Also, I'd like to say that I love my hair because it's MINE! No one on this earth has hair like ME. And no I'm not arrogant,=)I just love the fact that God uniquely created us all. Being natural with a head full of curls defines who I am; it's liberating! It shows my personality and passion and most importantly it shows that I'm not afraid to be me! Peace!! & Hair Grease!!!
To me…my natural hair has freed me from a bondage that i didn't know i was in. And if it wasn't for sites like this i never would have discovered the beauty that was my natural self.
I just BC'd last night and my ten year old sister was so impressed by what she called my "confidence" she decided that she too would go natural once she turned 13. Thank you for giving me the information I needed to make this decision and to demonstrate to my little sister how confident and beautiful we, as black women, can be in our own skin.
Wow CurlyNikki – 900+ followers! All I can say, is just keep on doing what you're doing – you're amazing, Lady!!
I've grown frustrated on my journey a number of times, but visiting Curlynikki.com keeps me from crying. The sharing from other members keeps me motivated each day. I'm a victim of chronic split ends, which hinders my growth progress, but I'm not going to give up!
This site has really helped me with my transition. I appreciate all of the information. I am confident that because of this site and it's followers I will soon have a healthy head full of curls.
Imagine my disappointment after I stumbled on your blog on the same night after I had highlights done for the first time at an Aveda hair salon! My hair is doing well, but I can't wait to "experience" henna after the color grows out. I have enjoyed reading your blog daily for the past month, and it has been an eye-opener. You have revealed the multitude options which exist for us naturals. Thanks!
Oh wow, first I would like to say thank you for your time, energy and dedication to this site, it has helped me in a tremendous way. This site was the first among many I came across to learn about natural hair,I've been a reader for quite so time now and you only started 10 months ago. I love natural hair because it is unique, sexy and illustrates who you are as a person without even saying it to the world. Congratulations to your success and I hope this site gets even bigger and better!

hey. nikki! this is kimberleigh—(the girl who wrote the long poem about her trainsition to natural hair-)
just wanted to say that I love this site because
it's run by someone with gorgeous hair
it doesn't uplift one hair type
it has everything from product reviews, transitions to interviews and of course giveaways!
you really have the best natural site that there is in my opinion
and i just wanted to say thank you!
Hmm. Beyonce's single 'Ego' comes to mind when thinking of your site: "…You talk like this 'cause you can back it up". I follow your site because the flyness of your hair validates your advice. kudos to you!
Thank you so much for your site it has given me loads of inspiration. I came across your site and when I read what you said about when "you're not feelin your hair, you're not feelin you" it really spoke to me. I'm 20 and for the last 10 years I have hid my natural hair with braids and weaves. This summer I decided to say goodbye to buying hair and discover the marvelous hair that God gave me. I've successfully done 2 henna treatments, started using Oyin Handmade products, experimented with twists/twistouts and in the course of 2 months I have fallen in love with my naturally curly hair! So thank you again!
-Taylor Sigh
I love my 4 a texure but I can't wait for it to grow out, I've only been natural 1.5 years.
Hello Nikki!!! I just love your site. Although I've been natural for about 7 years, I still have a lot to learn. Coming here I've begun to see a huge difference in my hair. It's more moisturized and healthy. I really love the transitioning accounts. It makes me wish I would've had you when I was transitioning, but also helps me expand my routine and try new things. Your site is a GOD send!!! My beautiful cousin in California has also starting her natural journey and your site was the first on that I directed her to!! Strangely enough, she had the same experience as the lady who continues to wear her hair natural for her daughter. So, keep it up!!! I'll keep coming back for more!!!
Veronica Lynn
What i love about my hair is that it never ceases to amazing me. I never have a boring day. I love that my hair is thick, coarse and can hold a set easily. I love that my hair can be kinky one day and curly the next depending on how I chose to style it.
Hey Nicki!
I don't remember what I was looking for when I found your sight, but I know that I have found a wealth of ideas and knowledge here. I read CN daily!
You have been my step by step helper on my path to henna-dom. I no longer fear humidity!
You and the other ladies have been in my corner when I tried something new with my hair.
Due in large part to this sight, I have honey in my shower. And Olive Oil. And Apple Cider vinegar. And I don't think its weird ( my DH on the other hand…)
CURLY IS BEAUTIFUL!
Through my natural hair journey, I've read about the negative feedback that some ladies have received about their hair. It's very frustrating and upsetting to read the negative comments, especially the ones that come from the mothers. If anything, our mothers should be the most supportive in the life journeys we all make. So, my comment is to the unsupportive mothers: May you have a change of heart and stand behind your beautiful daughters, in love and support.
I love my hair because it's all me. And thanks to you, I've realised that taking care of my hair is a learning process. I did my BC on the 10th July 2009 and I'm amazed at the beauty of my natural hair and I'm thankful for every strand that is growing out my head.
On the train heading home with my older sister (who is also a napptural) I sat next to a white girl who had a cute curly bob. Somehow we engaged in a conversation and she said "by the way I just want to let you know that you have the most AMAZING hair. When you sat down all I could think of was WOW" This made me feel really good because I have been trying to master this fro-hawk for about a week now and I wasn't that confident about how it looked.

Now i do my own henna treatments without any problems. When you mentioned aohr i went out and got it and girl i have not looked back! thanks for all you do!
Hey Nikki! I’m feeling more and more comfortable wearing my natural hair just out and however it wants to be. I got a great feel good compliment from the guy at Trader Joe’s the other night. He said I had some "awesome curls" and I can’t tell you how great that felt. I think it’s all about embracing you. I’m gaining confidence as I go!
Hi Nikki! I love your website. Thank you for taking the time to educate others on their natural hair. I am currently transitioning (4 months) and falling in love with my natural hair. Every day I check your website for the wonderful hair stories which inspire, inform, and motivate me. You have a wonderful spirit which is displayed through your website. Wishing you many blessings!
Hi Nikki,
I just recently went fully natural. I transitioned for 9 months and couldn't take the two textures any longer. Plus I really liked the texture of the new growth. So, on July 10, 2009 I did my BC and loved it. Right now I have kinky twist for the summer months (I live in GA so it's very hot right now). I can't wait to see my curls again.
I love this website. It's so full of information on everything curly. Love, Love, Love. Thanks Nikki for such a great place to share and learn.

Congratulations Nikki! I love this blog because it provides a fresh perspective on natural hair and it encompasses all hair types! I love the stories shared by other naturals as well as the emphasis on better hair care!!
I love being natural because it meshes so well with my personality. Liveatiously vibrant!!!
Hi Nikki!
Congratulations on your 900 followers! I want to thank you for sharing your experience with us, making us stronger to face the challange of being natural in a society that don't accept our hair.
I love being natural!

I love the different textures and curls in my hair!!!
im guessing the number 72
Im transitioning and have been embracing my natural hair and loving it! Im feeling proud of my hair and of me. My curls show that I have the strongest royal blood flowing through my veins, so strong that with just one drop it's more prevalent than any other ancestor in my bloodline, it overrules. It Rules.
My african ancestors were the first warriors, thinkers and scientists; they were so powerful, strong and unique that no matter how much someone mixes the blood line, african blood and features seeps down into the end of time. Ive come to realize that my hair is so exotic, that I should want to showcase my authentic natural rare curls off to the world, not hide or conform them. My hair is so beautiful, I wish I would of had the choice to keep my curls as a child, but now that i am older and wiser I will set my curls free and Proudly show my ancestory and strong features.
love your site! keep up the good work and sharing all the great pics and info!
hello hydration is such a staple for me!
I LOVE this site! I enjoy reading about other curly girls' journeys and I am encouraged and inspired each day! Invariably, I learn something new each time I visit this site! L-O-V-E it!
My # is 42…
I am completely in love with this site. I LOVE reading the inspirational stories of all my sisters and their journey to Au'Naturale!
I am learning my hair…what she likes and don't like…we are learning each other…THANKS for your advice.
Hello Curly Nikki,
Love your website, because not only do you provide us with information on how to care for our hair, but also you share other's experience with going natural..which makes everyone feel apart of the community. And….I love my hair, because of its texture and how it makes me feel. I AM ME FOR EVERYONE TO SEE!
-MC
Girl…this site is the bomb! I love your hair! You are like my hair idol. You have truly inspired me to love my natural hair. I just recently tried the twist n curl and it's definitely going to be one of my staples for the rest of the summer. Words can't express how grateful I am to have found a forum where there are others who are going through the same issues and challenges that I am with my hair. Thanks to your site…I will never perm again!
Peace!
Moni B
Heyy CurlyNikki :-)!
Your site is fab & I love that your blog features transitioning articles, so thank you! I'm sure other natural beauties, including myself find it very helpful. I love my hair because it's very thick..I'm in love with BIG hair!
Hi, Nicki!
The reason I have continued returning to your site is to see the pictures and read the stories shared by so many others who have made the transition to natural or who have, in some cases, always been that way. Seeing the faces, and the hair that frames those faces, is a constant encouragement to me, especially now that I'm trying to simultaneously keep my hair healthy and natural and find ways to offset the effects of hypothyroidism on my body, including the resulting dryness and brittleness it causes to my hair.
Perhaps the number one thing I've most liked about wearing my hair in it's natural texture is also the worst habit I could have: Playing with my curls. I like pulling them out gently and then letting them go and trying to find to where they bounce back. I think of them as little hair slinkies, and they're such fun :-)! But I've discovered that this is one of the things that can result in knots at the ends, so I try not to do this too often.
Beyond that, just knowing that my hair can curl, albeit tightly, is a rush. My hair grows slowly, so I'm waiting patiently–or impatiently, depending on my mood–for my hair to grow out enough to put into a tennis-ball-sized pony puff. Then maybe I can start pulling it back into French braids like I used to. My fro is fun, and I think it's the style that looks best on me for now, but I'm a little tired of it.
Thanks to your blog I decided few months ago to never put any relaxer ever again and I started transitioning.
Elsy F.
I love reading the personal journies. It helps to know that there are a whole lot of people who have done it successfully and it's been helping me finally decide to transition!
I love your blog because your hair is so gorgeous and serves as a motivation. I am currently 28 months post relaxer (currently wsl) and I am interested in trying henna once I am natural.
-Shanti
I've always tolerated my hair but with the help of your blog I've learned to absolutely LOVE it! I'm transitioning and this journey has taken me through so many changes. It's like having a sibling. You fight constantly but the minute someone disrespects them, you're ready to fight FOR them. That's me and my hair. I think I like your journey to personal accounts section the most.
Love the site. I've been natural for a year and I am always hunting for sites to assist me in my journey. I really liked the henna post with the pics and I will be trying henna really soon.
I've loved this site from day 1. U are always an encouragement and I get so excited every time I see u've made a new post.
I love my hair because it fits me so perfectly. I love every spiral and coil on my head. We are in this for the long haul. 🙂
I'm not natural yet, but I'm loving all my new growth. I'm trying to transition for 2 years.
I love this site! I check it every morning before starting my routine. The photos, comments left by other readers and your (Nikki) own persistence in keeping content current bring me back everyday. Going natural is one the best decisions I've ever made. I love what it's done for my hair, self-esteem and how it's opened opportunities to connect with so many women across the country.
Thanks Nikki!!!
Hi Nikki! This is my first time posting a comment but I just wanted to complement you on a blog well done. I just found your blog and I am LOVING IT!!! Keep it up lady 🙂
I wrestled with the idea to go natural but now that I'm in 2 months into the transition process I've never been happier. This site has proven to be a great resource for products and inspiration! Keep up the good work.
I love this site because it has some very positive energy emitting from it AAAAND I learned about henna and the good ol' twist n curl.
Curlynikki.com has inspired me to do the big chop sooner than I expected (only 3 months of transition). I stalk your blog for transition stories and innovative twa styles. Your labor of love is highly appreciated and I look forward to growing with my hair with this site by my side. Thanks again.
Hey Nikki,
I check your site everyday [at work, lol]!
A recent compliment that I recieved was on a day when I thought my hair looked a mess. It was about that time to wash, but I had been to busy to do so and it was in a huge twistout. I was attempting to pull it back into a ponytail on the elevator when an older white man said "it looks like a lot of work, but it sure is beautiful". That made my day 🙂
I just recently henna-ed for the first time this past weekend and I am already excited and convinced of the results! Even my grandmas who is verrry stubborn and skeptical in general asked what I did different to my hair and wants me to mix up a batch of henna for her! (which is amazing considering she wears wigs all the time but has a cute little mini fro underneath)
I am pretty sure that I will have to be the guinea pig for my whole family and display the effects of caring for my hair correctly and using henna in order to convince my little sis, mother and gma to become henna heads too! 🙂 But im up for the challenge and sooo excited.
Thanks so much for your forum!
ha-wa
p.s. i am relocating to egypt in 2 weeks and i was wondering if you have any resources for ordering my henna in cairo? or any other suggestions about how to maintain my new regimen..thx
I found CN one day on naturally curly.com after 6 months of transitioning. CN has def. helped me get through it. I am oging on 10 months strong. Thank you CN
what i love about my hair is the versatility. that i can have straight hair today and back to curly tomorrow. i love that ever since i really started caring for my natural hair that im not always caught up on how good my hair looks, now i care more about the health. just the other day i cut my hair bcuz the ends werent healthy and my mom flipped out bcuz shes length obsessed. and i love ur website, very informative, i plan to use henna one day to get my hair healthy
Hey Nikki,
The site is just wonderful. I get so many more compliments about the health of my hair…and it's only been 7 months. I think what I like most about your site are the spotlights, and seeing all the beautiful naturals. Keep it going lady!
Jamie W.
I love being natural because I love being chemical-free!
I have been natural for over 30 years (brief period of relaxer at about 13/14 yrs old). Until recently, I've been blow drying my hair into submission. Until I found this site (and several others like it) the only thing I did with my hair was the 2-strand twist. Thanks for showing me that I can do other things with my hair. I'll be doing my first henna next weekend – cross your fingers for me 🙂
I love this site because you are a down to earth kinda girl and I can always count on your readers to be the same. Also, I get tons of great tips how to maintain the strength and growth of my natural hair (3 yrs). Gooooo NIKKI!!!!!!
I love my hair because I've singlehandedly managed to convince my younger sister, a best friend and maybe even co-worker to start transition and start rocking their curls. And I LOVES your website for all the information about products from other curlies is just awesome! 🙂
Congratz! We Curly girls are blowin uuuuuuppppp! LOL. Thanks for all the great advice and continuous support through your experiences and others'.
I am going through a tough mental stage (Im missing my old length and wish my TWA would hurry and grow into a BAA already lol). This is the first time I've been so discouraged but visiting this site daily really keeps me going. You're def in my Top 3 of hair blogs that I must stalk daily 🙂 he he. Thanx Nikki. The numbers just keep getting bigger 😉
I started transitioning about four months ago. thanks to your website, my journey has been easier. especially your sleek and shine recommendation, I love that stuff. and the hair stories. i love it
Hey Nikki,
I'm contributing my random thoughts on the hopes I win something again! I love, love love this site! Oh! I received my Anita Grant products from my previous "win" and I will provide a review as promised, as soon as I get a chance to try them all out! Annnnnddddd, I'm so looking forward to the henna giveaway!!! Whoppee!!
Trena J.
I love this site because you feature women of color who have various textures/types of natural hair. I have been able to identify with many of the profiles you have posted and have gotten a lot of styling and haircare tips. I truly appreciate all the work and love that you've put into this blog and I am so thankful that I found you while casually browsing the web one day. Thanks for all you do!
wow 900 followers? That's fabulous – congrats!
On friday – I washed, used my leave-in and added coconut oil before adding my kinky-curly.. about an hour later my friends says – "your hair is absolutely gorgeous!" I think it's the coconut oil – I usually don't add it – but it made my hair smoother, curlier and softer.
My comment is just to say Thank You!!!! Us readers help you to stay motivated, but it's an even exchange. Without this site I'm not sure if I would make it. All of the pics, tutorials, hair stories and all the many things you provide here has pushed me to stay true to my natural beauty. Whenever I have doubts I go straight to my computer and type in curlynikki.com. So Thanks again and keep up the great work…
This site has been amazing, it gave me a chance to share my story and it's so weird to me to remember the time when I had no idea how to manage and appreciate my natural texture. I seriously thought it couldn't be combed without pain, it was bad hair or not even hair, some curse I had been born with, would never stay moisturized, or be pretty. Crazycakes. And you CurlyNikki and your wonderful site has gone a long way to making that horrible time a distant memory.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
nikki ur blog is amazing! i love that my hair is getting healthy
Congratulations!!! Here is to wishing you continuous success. I've come to love the new found curls I didn't know I had. I've been enjoying the natural process and continue to discover new things and I owe it to your site, the info I've learned from you and your readers has helped me a great deal.
Much love chica!!!
I love my hair because I have learned how to properly care for it and I know that it makes me unique. My favorite thing about this site is the great pictures and the infamous TnC. I just got a compliment yesterday on my twists. Everyone always wants me to do their hair once they see my hair, even if they have straight hair – what better compliment. Keep up the good work!

23 . . . I love your site. It's such an inspiration to me. I'm transitioning and it's not easy. But . . . your site and the testimonials and profiles are such a help.
What I'm loving about my hair is that as I learn to moisturize is, and get it to retain moisture, its texture is beginning to define itself; and I like it.
My favorite part of CurlyNikki are the interviews for the Natural Journey – Personal Accounts. This section gives me motivation to continue on my Natural Journey and also ideas on how to be successful. Thank you so much for all of the wonderful information. :o)
