After an unexpected and wickedly inconvenient overnight layover in Philly, Hubby finally arrived safe and sound this afternoon. We took to the roof to enjoy the weather–
so, um, how hot are these leggings?!

they spinnin’!
My mom arrives tonight at 9 pm! This will be her first time in LA…ever, and I want to show her the city, but it can get overwhelming, real quick. If you could pick only 3 sights, what would they be? Where should I focus my efforts?
*Fierce Friday will resume next week! Send pics!*
Oh wow those are very beautiful .Your excitement is clearly justified! I want to tell youtrue religion shorts is my favorite and hope you can come in and see.
I really loved what you said. nike zoom hyperfuse 2011 is also a good recommendation.Very much advocated.
I love the whole look. From your hair down to those boots. *WERK IT*
You look gorgeous Nik!
Gimme them leggings! You look great!
The Getty Museum ! Great view & babe friendly. Really good outing for the family.
Yeah yeah all the above but if you haven't already been you must go to Crustaceans! The garlic noodles and crab are amazing!
Roscoe's on PICO and LaBrea….that's the best one. Also, the one our POTUS visited
Rodeo Drive or Beverly Center
Downtown L.A….The Alley!!!
And for THE BOMB Mexican food…..Ortega 120 in Redondo Beach. They have 120 different types of Tequila!!!! ( I know that's more than 3….sorry!)
My suggestions for L.A.
1) Griffith Park Observatory-it's beautiful there. You have great views of the mountains, downtown LA, and the Hollywood sign. It's great at Sunset.
2) Hollywood Walk of Fame area-you can see the Stars and get one one of those bus tours-they're pretty fun and cover a lot of fun.
3) The beach-I prefer Redondo for swimming, but Venice for people watching.
aww…how cute! love the outfit and you are WORKING IT!
All of the places people named are great!..BUT if you and hubby have time, you guys have to stop by L.A. Live in Downtown Los Angeles!!
If u go to arclight. Go on Sunday so you can run thru amoeba (Music store with classics) and the farmers market(across the street) with the best food. Cheap!
Nikki–These tights are FABULOUS on you (nice website) HOWEVER, As a public service announcement: Ladies who have a really big butt, thunder thighs and cellulite, need not try! I'm dead serious!
Girl I have no clue about LA but those tights are hottttt and the combat boots love them I have the same pair 🙂
. . . So the only thing left to do is copy/paste this page and edit it onto a map of the city and the transit lines, pick what you're doing in the next few days, then pick what you'll do when you return for a whole week. The Angelenas (I hope that's correct) here have certainly given enough suggestions for us all to come have a blast at every price point, according to what appeals, inside/outside, etc. It's true what people say: If you want to know the best parts of a city/town/etc., ask the people who live there. They'll rarely steer you wrong, especially if they like you, and it's far better than any guide book. Thanks, y'all, and I'm not even the one going :-)! Enjoy the rest of your stay, Nikki :-)!
1. The Grove
2. Santa Monica The Pier
3. The Alley
These all involve shopping lol!
1) Roscoe's on Pico & LaBrea (if you're close)
2) Hollywood & Highland
3) Venice Beach or Santa Monica Pier
Forgot one item, if you are so inclined to catch a movie, try to visit an Archlight theater. They have the BEST caramel popcorn. I mean fight your hubby, slap your mama good, homemade caramel popcorn.
1) Co-Sign Franki and LACMA. Even if you guys don't go in, try to swing by at night. I'm sure hubby would get some great shots of you out front (for lack of a better descriptor, the poles out front at illuminated at night – I believe it's actually a permanent exhibit, but I'm just gonna call them poles – http://www.panoramio.com/photo/36866481).
2) I'm a bit of a foodie, so for me, Phillipe's (http://www.philippes.com/) is hands down the place to go (lines are insanse). Try the lamb french dip with the spicy mustard. ::faints dead away::
3) Also, Nickel Diner (http://nickeldiner.com/) downtown is great. One note, the area is dicey/shady/scary as hell at night, but the food is so well worth it.
I always like going places and doing things I can't do in my own city when I visit a place I've never been… My three choices would be:
1) Hollywood & Highland – you can go to Roscoe's in Hollywood during that same trip. Grauman's and Walk of Fame are a must if you've never been here. Touristy, but you gotta do it.
2) Beverly Hills/Rodeo Drive – again, if you've never been here… You could hit the Beverly Center (if you are so inclined, but it's just a mall) on this outing.
3) The beach! My preference in Manhattan, but that's because that's my 'hood. Venice is both scary and entertaining and Santa Monica is cool too.
Whatever you decide I am sure you will have a blast. Enjoy our city while you here, you cannot beat this weather – it's why we pay so much to live here!
ceavesy
I'm not sure becuase I've never been to LA but I plan to visit soon. Can I just say that I am truly lusting after those boots 🙂
i would like to comment on those absolutely sinful leggings!!! thanks for the 'share' i see a purchase in my future…
oh and sunday night try the Laugh Factory on Sunset for Chocolate Sundays (black comedians)
I'm in LA right now! What's the occasion?
the beach: if you want tourist spots got to Venice or Santa Monica(they are right next to each other. If you are looking for a pretty beach, go to Laguna or Malibu
amusement parks: Since you have Gia, maybe Disneyland would be fun, but if you are trying to stay in the Hollywood area, then you can go to Universal Studios
shopping: rodeo dr, 3rd street promenade in santa monica (if you go to the beach there then u kill 2 birds with 1 stone), the grove, the beverly center (but who wants to be inside a mall during this great weather), melrose for some funky boutiques, fashion district downtown for some cheap finds
touristy stuff: Griffith Park & the Hollywood sign, Sunset Blvd, Hollywood & Highland, The Getty
restaurants: Roscoe's…u have many to choose from but if your in the Hollywood area go to the one on Sunset, they stay open til 4a on the weekend. Also, there are a lot of great restaurants on La Cienega near the Beverly Center
nightlife: Stone Rose Lounge (no cover, chill place), Buffalo Wild Wings on Crenshaww tonight from 9p-1:30a for a old school game night,or you can hit hollywood for the clubs, if you here monday go to Happy Hour at Nic's Martini Lounge and make sure to try the VodBox!
Sorry for the extensive list, just wanted to make sure I cover all bases. lol

I don't know a thing about LA, but honey you look amazing! Lol. I need those leggings in my life!
Hey Nikki! My votes are for Venice Beach, Griffith Park, and the Grove! I would've added Roscoes but I don't want Boogie in the hood!
Roscoes chicken and Waffles a must to do in LA – you will not be disappointed. Old hollywood and the Farmers Market! Enjoy
Cute leggings!
I haven't been to L.A. yet, so I can't offer suggestions….but whatever you do, have fun! 🙂

Hey Nik, you can just hop on a bus to go the beach. The big blue bus for Santa Monica.
Hey Nik, go to the Pan African film festival (big deal). You can probably get free press passes by contacting Babu(director) or his team (their naturals). They have a press tab on their site. They will have more events for you to wear fancy stuff and celebs. Also the grove is a Must, today Extra the Tv show shouldbe filmming during the day and you can see folks. Also Roscoe's on Manchester. The hood, I don't kid, but they will treat you like Fam. Finally a beach. You can shoot up Venice blvd or Wilshire and run into a beach. Oh, wait, you may want to relax at Burke Williams Spa ($$$) or go to the Korean Spa Natura ($) and get the dead winter skin exfoliated off for cheap. Luv u!
Hi Nikki,
1. I would absolutely love if you visited my showroom in LA and picked out an outfit. WE CAN DELIVER IT TO YOU TOO! I suggest Spice or Cocoa, you can see images on my site www.shophautechocolate.com.
2. The Roscoe's in the hood like rei said hahah- the best one!
3. I personally like Universal City Walk with the silver man break dancing on the corner 😉
Please let me know if you need any dresses for any more upcoming appearances or events, we can ship it to you. We custom make everything
I'm second and thirding and whatevering all the votes for Griffith's Observatory and the Santa Monica Pier. Also, for you and the hubby, there's a lot to do at Universal City Walk.
Roscoes (manchester and main)–u have to visit the hood
or
el puerto escondido — near LAX the best mexican seafood!! mexican hood spot.
Griffith Park Observatory — lovely view (family time)
Santa Monica Pier/3rd Street Promenade — try the calimari at the Lobster. yums!
one more….Farmers Market/the Grove…Pan Pacific Park is right next door as well.
Nikki, I love how you often show that looking fabulous can be affordable; I really appreciate that!
Girl those tights give me life. Very cute causal look. I agree with the other ladies Roscoe's a must
They are HAWT on YOU! On me, they'd look a hot MESS!! LMBO!!! Beautiful! *Singing (badly)*: "Reunited and it feels so good … reunited like I knew it would …"
*lol*
Shelli
Gotta go to Venice Beach…ditto on Farmers Market and the Grove. (sigh) I miss home, I'm a Virgin Islander now
Beautiful pics…luv those leggings!
Roscoe
Farmers Market/The Grove
Santa Monica
Getty Center- amazing art, architecture and views
Hollywood Bowl for a show/concert
Farmer's Market/The Grove- decent shopping and variety of food options (including tasty healthy options)
Universal Studios- theme park featuring movie sets and restaurants/shopping (There is Gibson Amphitheater which has great concerts too)
There are also tons of individual ethnic communities that make you feel as though you are in the country of origin (Ethiopia, Thailand, Korea)
It all depends on what you want to do. The typical tourist stuff vs. cultured/eclectic look at the city. There is tons of stuff to see and do in L.A.
Enjoy your visit!!!
Santa Monica Pier (it has rides!) & 3rd st promenade, The Grove (check out the farmer's market there too) & Griffith Observatory. Have fun!
welcome to our city, i 2nd all of the above but especially
1)Beach (venice or santa monica) both easy to get to santa monica you can take pico and it runs out at the beach or venice beach take venice blvd it runs out at the beach too. if you reallllly want to be brave..the Santa Monica Bus line is the cleanest. if you drive to rimpau and pico there is a park and ride and the #7 will take you straight to the beach. and Roscoes is on Pico too. L.A. beaches truly are the best in january and february
2) the grove…you can shop and eat but the way its set up with the trolley and all it really is like a mini disneyland..you feel like you are in some disneyland theme town and fresh fruit at farmers market if you are so inclined!
3) if you like parks griffith park, great view from there at the observatory, they also have horseback riding
i assume you are in the hollywood/touristy area so you can shop at hollywood/highland center, lucky strike bowling is around the corner, of course walk the blvd and see the stars, go up block up to sunset, dont know if you all like brazilian food but Bossa Nova on Sunset great food..ok ive said enough have fun out here, it was gorgeous today as you well know , so i hope it remains this way for the rest of your trip:)
I've got the same boots!
You are too cute for words, love the leggings!
I second the Farmer's Market!
Bring Gia and the fam down here to Long Beach and visit the Aquarium! You'll love it. Then you can eat at Roscoe's afterward!
Omg, go to the Farmer's Market and check out The Gumbo Pot and def get the greens!
that's so sweet that your mom is coming out here and you want to show her a good time. I definitely recommend Venice Beach, you guys and the baby would have a blast!
you're welcome & as far as the beach..I'd take "eatgolearnlive's" advice..I'm not too familiar with maneuvering around the city.
Griffith Observatory – it's gorgeous
Hollywood & Highland is like tourist heaven, but it depends on how comfortable you are with crowds – it's a total crush; I wouldn't want to be there with a kid.
LACMA – I don't know what exhibits are up now, but it's always worth a visit.
Also, if you're into film, there's an African-American Shorts festival at Grauman's Egyptian Saturday.
(it is entirely possible I spend too much time in LA)
1. Bay Cities Italian Deli in santa Monica for the best sandwich EVER!!
2. LACMA/ la Brea tar pits
3. Venice Beach
Can't really limit it to 3…but here are my choices.
Hollywood/Highland – Graumann's Chinese Theater, Hollywood Stars, El Captian
Rodeo Drive
ROSCOE'S Chicken and Waffles (It's a LA institution…lol)
Venice Beach (gotta love the freaks)
PCH between Santa Monica and Malibu
Getty Villa
Mulloholland Drive
I LOVE this look on you. If there was a like button, I'd hit it!
Beautiful outfit!
I love those boots Nik! Your hair looks great too, what did you use!?!
Disneyland!!!!!
WERK! You look like a model!
Melrose and/or the Grove for shopping
Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles
Getty Museum
Hollywood and Highland (because it's right in the middle of all the cool Hollywood attractions)
A studio tour would also be fun. I live next door to Warner Bros. and their backlot tour is pretty good…Universal Studios is great also…
I second Santa Monica! You look fab!
ugh, the traffic.
The Getty Museum!!!!!!! #1
Shopping and food on Melrose, Bev Center
Beach (manhattan for sure or the OC if you can get down there) it is a drive to every good beach; you will have to brave the traffic
1. Cheesecake Factory, Marina Rel Ray
2. Beach, Santa Monica, at Pacific Coast Highway, or Ocean Ave
3. Jewelry shopping, 6th & Hill,
Signed,
Boazwife
I need those leggings in my closet!
Love the whole look! The boots are cute and the leggings are so unique :0) You look great!
1. Malibu (the Canyons are beautiful)
2. Santa Monica Pier
3. Rodeo Drive
Love the leggings! How did you find out about that place?
LOL @ 'i kid' I say that all the time!
Thanks for this… y'all are like my LA tour guides! Maybe one of y'all can come pick us up and cart us around! I kid 😉
hollywood blvd and hollywood sign
santa monica via pch or just pch to get to various beaches.
malibu – is that too far?
getty villa
LACMA
wilshire blvd.
the hood – i kid!!!
la is great for shopping and ethnic food.
The drive to the beach is pretty simple (just hop on the 10 west and exit Lincoln or 4th). There will most likely be traffic on your way back from the beach though, so prepare for that. Parking might be hard, but weekdays are always MUCH better than weekends!
1. Griffith Park
2. Beach (I like Manhattan, but it's not as entertaining as Venice or Santa Monica)
3. Shopping!!!!! (Larchmont, Melrose, Silverlake); or the Grove???
oooh! Thanks!
Is the beach easy to get to? I hate driving in big cities :-/
*typing this as i sit under this hair dryer with one hand free and the other holding the blow dryer*…so excuse any typos lolol
1. Roscoe's
2. the beach (Venice Beach)
3. the Hollywood stars
4. Rodeo Drive (for the glam side of LA)
(sorry had to squeeze #4 in )
