I have been natural all of my life!
Have you always appreciated your hair texture?
I had a major complex about my hair. I was told that it was too big and too curly. I am part Pakistani and several people within that culture would question if I was Pakistani because of my big and curly hair. I began to straighten my hair all of the time and conform to what I thought was right. I was conforming because I believed that it would help me “blend in.”
I lived in a small town; so people were a bit taken back by such massively fabulous hair! I would receive the evil eye from all directions. As time went on…I realized that I needed to be me! Embrace my individuality and let this hair be what it wants to be! So years later, I am at a place where I fully embrace everything about myself (from my hair down to my toes).

My hair routine is as follows:
I have recently decided to stray away from shampoos because they tend to dry/strip my hair of all of its natural oils. I comb my hair out in the shower; I then use an all natural/organic conditioner. After I condition my hair, I nourish my scalp with natural oils (avocado, almond, olive, etc) so that my scalp can feel alive and rejuvenated. After the shower process I let my hair air dry.
Nighttime routine?
At night, I spray rosewater mixed with vegetable glycerin on my hair. I also make sure to pull it back so that it is not wild and hard to comb out in the morning. Lastly, I sleep on a silk pillow.

What’s your favorite thing about being natural?
I love being natural because I am embracing everything about myself! I enjoy waking up in the morning, doing a quick condition, shaking my hair out and starting my day. It makes me smile when my fro blows in the wind, the comfort, and the happiness is like none other.
