Tell me about yourself!
Were you a transitioner or a Big Chopper? What was your journey like?
I transitioned about 2 years ago, stopping all chemicals. Then I big chopped last year May. The journey was scary.

Had you always embraced your texture?
I never really got the chance to. I began working in a hair salon when I was 13 as a shampoo girl and ever since then, its been, perm, cut, weave.

How did family and friends react to your decision to go natural? What was your response to them?
My friends truly rooted me on. They knew I loved BIG HAIR, Farrah Faucet was my idol! With every move they could tell I was uncomfortable and always went out of their way to make me smile. I fought for a while, rejecting all the reassurance.
Describe your hair (fine or coarse, thin or thick, highly porous, low, etc.)
Curly, thick and easily managed. I know my texture as a child was amazing but I never thought that I could get it back after all the processing I have done over the years.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done to your hair?
Oh wow, so many to list. But one year my hair was a cherry cola color and spiked in college. Color was great but it was very daring!
What’s your biggest hair related regret?
Sigh, pulling out glued in weaves! I have a reminder that just won’t quit until this day!

What’s your current hair routine? How often do you wash, condition, and style? Favorite products! Deets!
I wash and condition twice a week. Styling the same. My favorite products at the moment are the Dominican Magic Deep Conditioner, Motions Define My Curls Crème, Eco Styling Gel (Olive Oil) and Almond Oil (essential oils).
What’s your favorite hairstyle? Where do you get hairstyle inspiration?
My favorite is the style I am wearing now. Because I am addicted to height, I need to have the faded sides and lots of curls on top (wild and free)! Google and Youtube ColouredBeautiful, we are very similar in look.
Who is your curl crush?
I love Teyana Taylor’s curls!
How do you maintain your hair at night?
Don’t judge, but I do nothing to it. I don’t wrap it, pin it or anything. However I have always had satin pillow cases.

How do you maintain healthy length?
Length is not important to me, thickness and health are my main concerns.
What’s the best thing about being natural?
Less time doing my hair!

Where can folks find you on the web?
I am no “who is she” just an average Nikki who has gone natural and loving it!
