My name is Chimere Cooke from Hartford, CT new to the natural hair community and willing to learn every chance I get. I’m a single mom of two. Mental health worker and a praising Christian.
Were you a transitioner or a Big

I did the BC on 3/5/14 so far it’s been easy and I love it when it’s wet.

I had never embraced my texture b/c I’ve been getting perms since I was 12 and I’m in my mid 30’s now

How did family and friends react to your

My mother and I did the BC together after following my aunt and cousin who previously did the BC so far friends and family have been supportive.

My hair is coarse, thick and loves water.

What’s your biggest hair related regret?
My biggest regret is paying thousands on perms over the years
What’s your current hair routine?
How often do you wash, condition, and style? Favorite products! Deets!

My current routine is I wash once a week with castor shampoo or my homemade reetha shampoo. I condition twice a week with my hair butter one day and after I shampoo I like to use either a mayo deep or avocado deep conditioner. I don’t have a favorite on the market product as I make most of my own which for me works really well.

I’m unable to achieve many hair styles at this point since my hair is carpet length 🙂 but I’m embracing makeup and earrings 😉
Who is your curl crush?
My curl crush is Jouelzy. We have the same hair texture and she achieves many great looks.
How do you maintain your hair at
night?

I wear a silk scarf at night so I don’t lose moisture on my cotton pillow case. I also have my 7 oil blend I gently massage through prior to putting on my scarf.
What’s the best thing about being natural?
The best thing for me about being natural is freedom and also accepting my god given natural tresses which are strong and an asset for me to embrace.
