R.I.P. Tommy.

The cast of Martin reunited yesterday for the funeral of Thomas Mikal Ford, better known as Tommy. Ford played Martin’s best friend on all 5 seasons, where he became the running joke of never having a job.

The actor passed away at age 52′ last Wednesday, October 12th. He was placed on life support after an aneurysm ruptured in his abdomen. After his health continuously declined, his family made the decision to turn off support.

In addition to playing Tommy on Martin, Ford also played supporting roles in New York Undercover, The Jamie Foxx Show, The Parkers, The Proud Family,  and recently Zoe Ever After among others. Martin originally aired from 1992-1997. Ford would be nominated for ‘Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series’ during the 1996 NAACP Image Awards.

Tichina Arnold shared her thoughts on losing a dear friend in an Instagram post. “Today was not easy, but by the grace of God we all got through it. Words cannot express our gratitude for all your prayers, positive thoughts and support for us throughout all the years. Tommy will be missed but most certainly not forgotten.”
