My Top Hair Detangling Tip of 2023
It saves money and hair!

I’ve been wearing turbans for the last couple of years. They’re chic, and incredibly time saving since my hair doesn’t have to be perfect! But I’ve noticed that the old adage, ‘out of sight, out of mind’ holds true as I go way past my regularly scheduled detangling sessions (disrespectfully so, at times) and end up with a matted (and oily) mess on wash day. I go overboard on the castor oil at times which helps tremendously with length retention (my hair is mbl), but makes detangling even more of a challenge.
In addition to making sure you have ample time to detangle (so you’re not rushing and ripping hair out), I also recommend that you keep an empty bottle of conditioner in the shower, next to your full one. I still use Aussie Moist (fave cheapie because it’s HIGHLY effective), so I pump that (like 4-7 squirts) into the empty bottle and hold that under the running shower head to collect enough warm/hot water in the bottle to be able to cut the conditioner with. I shake, shake, shake (with my palm covering the opening) and then pour into my hands… it’s not liquidy, but it’s nowhere near as thick as it was either.
And for some reason, the thinned-out or cut formula cuts my detangling time in half! I make sure my hair is thoroughly wet, apply the cut-conditioner, one side at a time (I divide my hair into two parts), and let it sit while I shower. Then I use my fingers or my Ouidad Double Detangler to gently detangle the situation under the running water stream! Works like a charm!
