Yesterday, at an afternoon press conference in Los Angeles, the nominees for the 45th NAACP Image Awards were revealed.

I am honored to share that for the category Outstanding Literary Work- Debut Author, I am among those nominated!
Between now and Feb 21st, members of the NAACP will vote for their favorites in each category and winners will be announced shortly thereafter (at the televised event on the 22nd and the non-televised event the evening before). Of course, to receive a nod from such an esteemed organization is an award in and of itself. But there’s no denying it, this is major and I’m pretty excited! As always, this honor belongs to the natural hair community and I am excited to share it with you. Who knows, we might just win!
